Oakland firefighters tearing down burned railway trestle

The Oakland Fire Department is dismantling an old railway trestle following a fire that began on Wake Avenue. The blaze started in vegetation and spread to the abandoned structure and a nearby East Bay Mud facility. While crews are securing the site, residents in Oakland, Berkeley, and Emeryville may see and smell smoke throughout the evening.
