Well, this is video number two
in the FireGyro to Rebuild series.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the channel
and welcome back to the vlog.
The first step in today's video
is to pull out the driver's side interior
and that's because the ECUs actually sit
behind the driver's seat and in front of the firewall.
The single hardest part of this entire project is here.
This wiring harness that is absolutely fried.
You can see it runs the length
of the driver's side of the chassis
and it is absolutely cooked beyond repair.
So step one today, we gotta try to remove this,
but if you see, it kinda snakes around the fuel tank
and around the frame as well, in through the firewall
and connects off to the ECU.
So trying to snake it while the motor is still in the car
and that fuel tank could be a little bit difficult.
Assuming we can do it and keep the motor in,
it's gonna make this project a whole lot easier.
So step one, we gotta pull the interior
and try to pull that wiring harness.
And step one, we gotta pull this driver's seat.
I apologize for the worst shot in the history of my channel,
but that wiring harness there, we gotta disconnect.
Pulling the driver's seat is never a whole lot of fun.
Full transparency, that was actually one
of the easiest seats I've ever removed.
The graveyard continues to grow.
I'd spend more time cleaning in here,
but we're gonna make a big mess anyway.
So this little shelf piece comes right on off.
That fire extinguisher material just gets everywhere.
Like the amount of dust underneath the carpet.
I mentioned this in video one,
this latch mechanism is completely gone.
We're gonna pull this all the way through.
Some of it might be salvageable.
I'm not gonna toss the entire thing,
but now wedged on in here is this harness there.
07L905534D02 Lamborghini, hungry.
So we now gotta pull this entire wiring harness.
We got this connection, this connection,
all the way through here, there, there.
And then you got the grommet here.
This is where we wanna pull the wiring harness
from the engine bay,
which means we gotta cut all these zip ties.
Every single wiring harness is like a little bit different.
Usually the bigger it is,
the easier it actually is to disconnect.
And for ease of access and prosperity's sake,
one ECU fully removed, I guess.
I'm actually really glad I removed that
because there's actually an access panel under the ECU.
Be very cautious.
And that reveals the fuel pump on this side of the car,
which we really don't need access to,
but I definitely wanna clean that on up.
I hate trying to remove interior trim on this guy,
Ardo, because it's 21 years old
and clip technology has improved dramatically.
These are so brittle.
Disconnected this portion of the wiring harness.
We gotta pull it through here.
Come on.
We basically have the entire wiring harness pulled,
but there's one connection here
that goes through the center console
and I think it should be right there.
I was wrong.
It's not that harness.
The wiring harness that will never end.
And we gotta spin the ball on off
and this piece will slide.
I already removed all the wiring harnesses
and now we have access to this ball
and access to this.
I thought removing the center console,
I could get to this wiring harness,
but it actually runs parallel to it.
So we're gonna pull out all this carpet
if we can get access to that.
We have finally made the momentum.
It is officially time to pull this wiring harness
out of the guy, Ardo.
I'm pulling the good side of the wiring harness this way
because I don't want all this to end up in the cabin.
I could cut this, but I guess you never know.
So I'm just snaking the good part of this wiring harness
through this side
and then we should be able to remove the entire thing.
I can't believe this is actually gonna work.
This means we probably can get away
without pulling the motor, which is a huge relief.
Someday we'll probably do that anyways,
but maybe we don't have to do it today.
This thing is an absolute disaster,
but it is fully removed from the vehicle.
The fact that we should not have to pull the motor,
not a guarantee, there's still a chance,
but one wiring harness fully removed.
I'm definitely not gonna throw this away
because to the right person,
this is worth an absolute fortune.
Obviously this half is completely discardable.
Someday in the future, this might be valuable to somebody.
The goal is to just buy a whole new wiring harness.
I feel like it's a relatively cheap insurance policy
compared to trying, obviously that can't be repaired,
but even trying to find just the back half
and mating it with the front half
just doesn't really make sense.
So yes, we're gonna buy a brand new wiring harness,
but on that bombshell,
today's video has been sponsored by SimpliSafe.
Now, if you guys want security and not surveillance,
you are going to love SimpliSafe,
and using my link right now,
you can save 50% off your system.
Now, you guys don't know how much I love SimpliSafe.
I've been using my SimpliSafe home security system
every single day.
At some point during the day,
I access the live feed from the SimpliSafe cameras
on my cell phone to make sure the house is safe,
make sure the cars are safe,
make sure little Oscar Marshmallow is safe.
Now, I first installed my SimpliSafe home security system
off at Borough Lackers' house almost eight years ago,
and I thought you guys might like
seeing this little throwback.
So we're going to install this in today's video.
We're going to install,
we're going to install this first.
We're moving on up.
This is the new doorbell.
You got the camera right there.
Today's reading comes from the SimpliSafe setup guide.
And after having SimpliSafe off at Borough Lackers' house,
I then installed it at my rental house,
and after that, I installed it here at the current house,
where it's been protecting me for the last four years.
I did the installation myself.
It was super easy.
It took me less than 30 minutes,
and there's no drilling required.
And with SimpliSafe,
you can get started for around a dollar a day.
There's no long-term contracts.
Safe to say, I'm a customer for life.
Now, I have SimpliSafe smart security devices
located throughout my entire house.
I have outdoor cameras just like that one
that cover the entire perimeter.
I have indoor cameras.
I have smart locks.
I have smoke detectors.
I even have carbon monoxide monitors.
Car guys, you are going to love that.
And they all integrate together seamlessly
via the SimpliSafe app.
I can actually alarm or disarm
my SimpliSafe home security system
with one touch of the button
anytime, anywhere in the world.
Now, most security systems only react
after somebody's already broken into your property.
They've probably already stolen from you,
and they've already caused family trauma.
But SimpliSafe has their state-of-the-art
active guard outdoor protection.
SimpliSafe's AI can actually detect a true threat,
and then their live monitoring agents
can speak to the intruder
before they ever reach your front door,
completely defusing the situation.
That peace of mind, you cannot beat.
Now, I love the peace of mind
that SimpliSafe has given me,
and I want you guys to have the same peace of mind.

Well, I think we are pretty much ready to rock and roll,
and you're probably thinking, where are we headed?
So the Gallardo's reached a point
where there's really not much we can do
for the time being until we get a lot of parts
or a donor car, which is why we're headed off
to Portland, Oregon for all the above.
We have bought a new, not a new Lamborghini,
not even really a full Lamborghini.
We've bought part of a Lamborghini Gallardo
that we are gonna be using to fix this car.
We still need a lot more parts other than that.
Now, the Gallardo that we have bought,
we need a trailer for.
We're not gonna be able to drive it up on the trailer.
We're gonna have to, like, forklift it,
and I prepared for every single scenario possible.
We got a jack, we got jumper cables,
we got tools, we got a tow strap,
we got a ton of ratchet straps.
We even have a sleeping bag and jumper bones,
and I think that's pretty much everything we'll need.
And don't you fret, we got a whole thing of snacks.
Also, I should change my clothes.
And as easy as that, the next time we see the Gallardo,
we're gonna have a transplant donor, I guess,
kind of, sort of, and Portland, Oregon is 11 hours
and 33 minutes away, 789 miles.
Because I was pulling the wiring harness this morning,
we are definitely not gonna make it to Portland tonight.
Well, we are officially two minutes in
to an 11 and a half hour drive,
and a bit of a philosophical moment
as the jack rattles for the next 11 hours.
It's crazy how a leaky EVAP system
has dictated the entirety of my summer.
And you thought your V12 was fast.
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
You gotta be in the right lane.
Literally, the right lane.
The right lane is where it's at.
Let's go, baby.
My luck is about to run out, but we will take it.
Funny how that works.
Everybody clogs the left lanes,
and we're chillin' in the right lane.
Also, leaving at 5 p.m. for an 11 hour road trip,
mistakes were made.
Those clouds there are sick.
We are officially one hour in.
And we are two hours in.
Welcome to Idaho.
Three hours in.
And hour number four.
And four hours and 10 minutes later.
And four hours and 14 minutes.
Very good.
And four hours and 18 minutes, I am completely blind.
Hour number five, the sun is setting.
And five hours and 24 minutes in.
Oh, six hours later.
Seven hours later, welcome to Oregon.
That was a cop.
Eight hours in.
Good morning, Portland.
354 to go.
And hour number eight.
Ooh, nine hours in.
And nine hours and 28 minutes in.
And nine hours and 37 minutes.
We are 10 hours in.
10 and a half hours.
The Dallas-Oregon Mount Hood looking prime.
11 hours in officially.
Boating on the falls right there.
Looking prime, all right.
And officially, 11 and a half hours later.
Welcome here to Portland, Oregon.
We are five minutes away from PK Auto Parts.
I feel like I'm in an episode of American Pickers.
I just hope that this chassis, this frame, this shell,
whatever you want to call it,
I just hope it is as advertised.
Also, that jack is gonna make me crazy.
I have tried adjusting it in every single way possible.
No matter what you do, it's gonna rattle.
So it's what it is.
It's right here.
This is not what I was expecting.
Is it just some dude's backyard?
What in the world?
Okay, that kind of looks like a chop shop right there.
Is this a chop shop?
Is it a graveyard?
Is it a junkyard?
I don't really know what it is.
Kind of sort of weird.
I saw this on eBay.
I made an offer.
The offer was accepted.
And then here we are, 24 hours later.
Well, we're here with Paul,
and we are in the right place.
You're in the right place.
I wasn't entirely sure.
So you sold what to Hubie's Garage?
Murcielago Trans.
And you sold parts to Houston?
Yeah, several times.
Okay, so we're definitely in the right spot.
And there is my brand new baby.
So this is so crazy, guys.
So you're telling me this car
used to have a twin turbo kit on it.
Twin turbo, yep.
And he spun out, wrecked the car.
And now this is my saving grace.
A lot of you guys know,
I had a twin turbo kit on my car years ago.
We ripped it off,
and now we got another twin turbo guy
with a kind of, sort of, not really.
So here she is in all of her glory.
This is what we're after.
This panel right here.
And as I showed you guys in the photos,
we got this tiny little ding right here.
We definitely can sort that out.
But we got the glass.
We got the trim.
This is gonna be exactly what we need.
And now down into the inner vault here at PK Auto Parts.
We are getting the full tour.
Here is what we are buying before Paul dismantled it.
That's insane.
Yep.
Wow.
And I thought it was underground.
It wasn't sticker.
You're right.
That does look like underground.
Someone had a twin turbo kit.
That's what my initial thought was
that it was underground, but.
Now do you have the twin turbo kit?
I do.
Yeah.
Hmm.
That would be interesting if we bought a twin turbo kit.
We're not, no, no, no.
We're not gonna do that yet,
but maybe someday.
Might be one day.
Maybe someday.
Can we see some other photos?
Yeah.
There in the back.
Here, I'll click through.
Wow, there she is.
An 06 guy out of my saving grace.
The exhaust is super sick once we get to that picture.
Oh, do you have the exhaust?
Oh, with the turbo kit?
It's with the turbo kit.
Right, yes.
In my opinion, it's really, really sick
the way they made it.
So, here, look at that.
Oh, sick.
Yeah.
The way teardrop cutouts, stainless steel.
That is so cool.
It looked really, really cool.
I don't know what was here before.
Right, right, right.
Ripped it out, but I'm sure it looked cool.
We're gonna have to do some research
and see if we can find the history of this car.
Maybe even what happened in the accident right here,
because there's not that many twin turbo guys.
As you can see, the turbo's right there
with that exhaust setup, especially on a pre-LP car.
So, when Paul bought this car, it actually fired on up,
burning a little bit of blue smoke right there.
Now, somebody watching this knows this car, knows this kit.
Let me know in the comments below,
because we've got to figure it out.
What a crazy car.
Dude, a five liter twin turbo,
best sounding car in the world.
This is why I wanted to turbo my car.
In general, man.
Exactly, best sound.
So, we might end up getting a little bit more
than we originally thought we were getting.
We got a whole list of parts.
Basically, I feel like everything I need is right here.
Sure hope so.
I sure hope so.
I do too, I hope so.
But I think we're gonna get basically everything today.
This has gotta be one of the coolest places I've ever been.
You just got Gallardo parts everywhere,
and that is my wiring harness right there.
Let's go, baby.
You got everything I need.
You are my saving grace.
Oh, you gotta keep those Gallardos on the road.
Oh, yes you do.
They're only getting better and better.
Especially yours is gated.
Yes, it is.
That should be it right there to the vent.
Yeah, so that kind of goes around the oil cooler.
You guys might remember, this was an absolute mangled mess.
So, PK Auto Parts, I'm on their website.
You can see all the different cars
that Paul has torn apart.
All these cool kind of specialty style sport cars.
Lamborghini Gallardo there, Lamborghini Murcielago.
It's wild how the parts individually are worth more
than the car put together, usually.
And right here we got the power steering reservoir.
I feel like we almost are gonna find
every single part we need right here in Oregon.
This is crazy.
You guys know what piece this is.
Mine completely melted off the car,
and she looks perfect money.
This is the right side.
Oh, okay, right side, left side.
Thank you, sir.
There you go.
So, somewhere in here is a twin turbo system.
There is part of the exhaust.
Super dark in here.
Way back there somewhere is the turbos.
And so, this ran on a stock ECU that was tuned
and was about 1,000 wheel horsepower.
Maybe we, no, we shouldn't buy this kit, should we?
No, no, no, big boys.
They're precision turbos, I think, right?
Yes.
Crazy.
Yeah, this kit is like a no joke kit.
Wow, that thing is huge.
You're a terrible influence on me, Paul, wow.
Paul is apologizing because we're not
in a most cinematic environment, you might say.
The lighting is not great,
but I think that adds to the mystery.
I feel like we're on American Pickers right now.
It's exactly, it's more of a wonderland
than a filming paradise.
Yes, yes, yes, exactly, exactly.
This is one of the most interesting places
that I have ever been.
We got hoods galore.
We got fuel tanks right there, it looks like.
And there she is, my saving grace.
So, the little side of spiderweb.
There you go, I'll keep the spiderweb.
That is the oil cooler I need right there.
Wow, okay, money.
Well, I got all the Z3s right here.
So, you specialize in mainly European sports cars,
effectively?
Pretty much, convertible Z3s, Z4s, yes.
European sports cars, M cars, yeah.
All right, guys, well, you heard it from Paul.
If you guys ever need parts for anything European,
especially BMWs or Lamborghinis possibly,
definitely check out Paul.
Dude, you are my hero today.
I don't want to claim it, but I will say it.
I think I buy the most Z3s in the country.
You came at a very midterm right now,
and my yard is empty, but I buy so many Z3s
that it's unbelievable.
We got all these different engines as well.
I keep saying organization is the name of the game,
but it's crazy.
Through your database, you're able to find these parts
in like 10 seconds, no biggie.
What in the world is that, Paul?
That is tiny.
It was a Z3.
That's a Z3, that's crazy.
To see a Z3 stripped out, you realize how small the car is.
We got an SL500 there.
Leftovers of a Z3.
It really is like a treasure hunt here.
Well, we came for one piece, and we're leaving with a ton.
We got a whole crate of parts for the Gallardo.
Might need another trailer, man.
We might need another trailer.
That is a good problem to have.
Well, I guess you could say officially,
I am the owner of another Gallardo.
Hey, it's got a van,
obviously being sold on a bill of sale,
so it's not really a fully functioning car.
A little shot at rejuvenation coming to Utah momentarily.
It's pretty crazy to see how small a Gallardo is
when everything is stripped off of it.
I kind of want to buy that twin turbo kit.
I probably shouldn't.
Paul's asking 17 grand for it.
What do you guys think?
We can always come back here to PK Auto Parts
if we choose so.
I have the built motor already in the car,
so honestly, we could probably push the boost up
and get it to like 1,200, 1,300 wheel at least.
Oh, baby, she is hanging on for dear life right there.
And as they always say, smooth as butter, baby.
Smooth as butter.
I wonder what this weighs.
Probably 600, 700 pounds, give or take.
I just popped off these washers right here
for the motor mount.
We definitely do not want these flying off
into anybody's windshield.
So this car came from Pennsylvania just like this
on an open carrier.
This glass, as Paul said, it's going to be totally fine.
They designed it this way as such.
Dude, thank you so much.
I appreciate it.
So you started this with $700.
You've been doing it for 21 years.
You don't got to reinvent the wheel.
You don't have to have a ton of money.
700 bucks and a dream and a lot of hard work,
a lot of dedication.
A lot of dedication and a lot of hard work.
And you own a Gallardo Superleggera.
Yes.
That's crazy.
Well, thank you so much.
I appreciate everything, dude.
Thank you.
Well, that could not have gone any better.
First off, Paul is the man.
Paul knows everything about Gallardos.
He's got Gallardo parts everywhere.
He even has a twin turbo system.
I have a built motor.
No, no, no.
If I had the knowledge and the skill level
to do a twin turbo, more to come.
We definitely did not get every single part
we're looking for.
Also the oil cooler we discovered
was actually the wrong part number.
I think it was the transmission cooler.
So we did not end up getting that.
But we got the reservoir for the power steering fluid.
We got the body.
We got all the vents.
We got like that shroud piece.
We got a bunch of the EVAP system.
Like we got so many parts all in one location.
We still probably have maybe 10 more parts to get.
But so far, like check a couple boxes,
we're getting there.
Well, on the road again.
And how do I miss the tall pine trees of Oregon?
It is beautiful here.
Now some of you guys know,
I've already mentioned it before.
I'm from Oregon.
My mom still lives in Bend.
And so we're gonna go see her for the weekend.
Mount Hood has gotta be one of the most beautiful mountains
in the entire United States.
I climbed it when I was, man, maybe 19.
The highest point in the state of Oregon.
The dismantling business
is such a fascinating business concept.
Because think about it.
You take a car that's been crashed.
You get heavily discounted.
And then you part out the remaining parts.
And sometimes you make two, three, four, five, six times
what you're into the car.
But the key is longevity and organization.
Because you're not gonna sell all the parts overnight.
It'll take you two, three, four, five, 10 years
to sell a lot of these parts.
But if you're willing to play the long game,
you can make a ton of money.
And of course the key, just like most businesses,
you make all your money on the buy.
You gotta buy the car at the right price.
Whether it's a salvage car, a clean title car,
whatever it is, you gotta pay the right price.
Which is easier said than done.
Well, you can never stop too many times
to check out the car, but also the toe straps.
Let's be honest, we do not want this thing flying off.
Man, I feel so incredibly amazing right now.
The fact that we found this, this panel is amazing shape.
This is great, this is great.
And we have the other side.
Because when I'm done with this, I can sell it.
It's so interesting to look inside this car,
completely stripped on down.
We can see, Automobilia Lamborghini Sant'Agata Bolognese,
October 2005.
And there's the original VIN and all.
Now the passenger side of the car is actually pretty nice.
This panel obviously can be used in a future accident.
Some, not for me, but like,
if somebody else gets in an accident.
Not a future accident for me, guys.
If somebody watching this owns a Gallardo,
if you ever crash on the passenger rear quarter, I gotcha.
We also have like the whole front crash structure.
That's good.
To think back to my A12 project,
how impossible it was to find parts.
Ferrari wouldn't even sell me structural components.
And now on the Gallardo, we're only a couple weeks in.
And we got every single structure component
we could ever need.
And we really don't need anything
because structurally, we are totally fine.
But all in here, you can actually see
a bunch of the brackets as well.
We got the heat shielding.
So there's gonna be so much we can use.
Just even random bolts like this.
Because on my car, like,
might as well replace them if we can.
Now obviously I'm not gonna be doing
the body work or the paint work.
But if I had to guess,
we'll probably slice and dice like right there.
That is such a small section.
And then basically use all of this.
And then somehow slice here maybe, give or take.
So this piece just kind of sort of sits
on kind of like, yay.
Like I came for this and I left with this
as well as a gazillion other parts.
And I spent $1,500 on all the other parts.
So grand total, we are $6,500 into this.
Lot more still to come.
But as I said, I think I can sell the passenger side
for a couple thousand dollars.
By the time this is all said and done,
we might be able to fix it cheaper
than I originally thought.
I don't know if you guys remember when Jerry and I,
Jerry from Fix Auto Provo,
we were looking at this part online brand new
and it was 17 grand, $17,000.
And we bought this whole shell for 5K.
I'm not gonna say this TRX is like
the greatest tow rig of all time,
but I've trailered my A12 to Philadelphia and back.
Cars all around the Western United States
and now a Gallardo shell, Utah to Oregon, back to Utah.
So she ain't bad.
She gets seven miles to the gallon right now though.
So, you know.
I don't know if you guys can really tell,
but there's a forest fire out there in the distance.
And then up there is another one.
And then over here is a third one.
I don't know if this is like a metaphor
of some kind right now,
but to have bought this and be surrounded by fires
as we speak, praying for all the firefighters out there.
You got the fire right there.
You got another one in the distance
and you got this big boy right here too.
Crazy to see the sun hit this paint.
It's actually a beautiful color.
This whole drive back to Bend,
I've been thinking a lot about that twin turbo system.
I wish I had the skill level
to install a twin turbo system myself.
I feel like that would be the coolest way to do it.
I'm not saying it's not possible.
I'm just saying I've never done it.
That never stopped me before though.
When I bought that A12, I had no idea what I was doing.
And then with the Gallardo,
I'm not going to say I know what I'm doing,
but I feel more confident.
What?
Ah, it feels good to be back to home sweet home,
Mountain View High School.
Go Cougars, baby.
Just the other day, I was graduating from high school
from Mountain View and now we are towing half,
a 10th of a Gallardo.
Yeah, a 10th.
We're going to call it a 10th.
What do you think of my new car?
Well, it's interesting.
You can sit in it if you want.
Can I?
Kind of.
Is there a seat?
No, but you definitely could sit in it.
Well, I don't know.
I think I'll pass, James.
I'm kind of old to crawl into that thing.
Yeah, I think I am too.
You always know you bought the right car
when you turn around and look.
Am I right, mom?
Oh yeah, for sure, James.
She is a beaut.
I hope nobody steals her, right?
I hope not.
I don't think anybody would knock this way.
I sure hope not.
No, probably not.
Somebody's probably going to think
that something actually got stolen on that.
So, huge updates.
The Gallardo, we got the body shell.
We got a ton of cool parts.
We got to drive back to Utah soon.
But on that bombshell, yep, today's video is over.
These chop shops come in bunches.
I keep calling it a chop shop.
It's really not a chop shop.
Chop shops are like illegal.
Wow, chop shops.
So we got all four ratchet straps down on the Gallardo.
And the ultimate test is the shake test, right?
The shake test.
You have to have years of experience.
If you don't, don't even try this out.
No, no, no, no, no.
This is very dangerous, kids.
Very, very dangerous.
Yeah, she going nowhere.
If the car doesn't make it,
that means the trailer didn't make it.
Exactly, that means the truck
probably didn't make it either.
And this will be the least of our concerns.
