You've Been Taught BACKWARDS About God's Chosen People

We're told that God punishes His people by allowing evil rulers to govern over them. But if that's true, then the people carrying out God's punishment are even more evil than the people they're supposedly punishing.

In any just system, the people with the greatest character would rule over those with less, not the other way around.
Even in the "end times", the Four Horsemen don't just punish the wicked. They bring destruction on everyone. The saints suffer alongside the sinners. At what point does punishment become friendly fire?

Maybe "God's will" became the perfect excuse, shifting responsibility away from the actions of men and placing it onto God.
