Before the heat settles, blue-grey mist rests between terraced rows and a rusted gate latch holds a single curling tendril. An empty wicker basket waits under the vines while a swallow breathes quietly on its wire. Later, a keeper lets go of a grapevine instead of reaching for the shears; a tortoiseshell butterfly opens and closes its wings on thyme, and only a few grapes rest in a metal pail. By afternoon, closed shears lie beside two unpicked clusters as gold moves across the hills. The music follows this same unbothered pace, holding nothing back and asking nothing of you either.
