Guinea fowls freeze and stand still in the rain because heavy downpours muffle ambient sounds, reduce visibility, and impair their sensory awareness, triggering an innate anti-predator "freeze" response. Standing motionless helps them conserve core body heat, avoid detection, and cope with sensory overload when their feathers become damp.
