You don't need a ton of money to create a beautiful
and cozy home this fall.
I found an inexpensive dupe
for the viral pinch pleat drapes.
I have several simple DIYs you can make
to create a cozy atmosphere this season.
And in this video,
I am sharing 30 easy fall decorating ideas
that I think you'll love.
So let's get started.
First up, I always recommend swapping your pillow covers
only for the season, not the entire pillow.
So I have a collection of feather inserts
that I keep around and then I can easily store
some different pillow covers for each season
or simply whenever I want a decor change.
I found this adorable ruffled gingham pillow cover
on Amazon.
I will link it down in the description box below
as well as everything that I'm featuring in today's video.
I love how it instantly warmed up my couch
and it brought in some really subtle colors for the season.
And I love this modern cottage look.
This one is my favorite swap in the whole video.
Pinch pleat drapes have been huge in home decor
for the last few years.
I've been searching for some budget friendly drapes.
These are perfect.
They come in a variety of colors.
They're already trained so that right when you open up
the package, they pleat perfectly.
You can put these plastic attachments on the back
and adjust them to be whatever height you want.
Add these rings onto the clips
and then hang them on your curtain rods.
I chose this soft brown color to tie into my cushion cover
and just add a lot of warmth to my whole room.
It also ties into my flooring and my fireplace.
You can make a rustic wood riser for your kitchen.
I simply used some old boards for this fence
that we took down.
I simply cut one piece to size,
the size that I wanted a riser.
And then I cut two smaller pieces
that were about two inches high.
And then I attached them to the bottom of the first piece
with some nails and some wood glue.
I cleaned mine and kept it rustic,
but you could stain yours.
You could sand it, whatever you want.
It's so cute on the kitchen counter
with candles or seasonal decor.
Now, instead of buying drapery fabric,
you can make your own DIY drapes with flat sheets.
I found these ones on Amazon and I love the gingham pattern
and I love the ruffle they had on the bottom.
So I'm using the flat sheets from the set that I bought
because I don't really use flat sheets in my bedding.
I use a washable duvet cover.
It's a queen size.
I'm cutting it in half vertically,
hemming all the way around.
Except for the bottom,
I'm gonna leave the ruffle at the bottom
and then I'm going to use some clips and curtain rings
to hang these up in my dining room.
They add such a cute and cozy look to the space.
If you have an old plaid scarf in your closet
or if you find them at the dollar store,
I found this one at Dollarama.
You can easily use it to create a pillow cover.
Simply find a pillow insert that fits inside.
I found this rectangular one
that was the perfect size for this plaid scarf.
And then you can cut the scarf
and sew all the way around,
leaving a hole in the middle.
Turn it right side out.
I left some fringes from the original scarf
on either side of my pillow.
Put the pillow insert inside.
Hand sew that hole shut
and you have a really cute seasonal pillow
for your couch this fall.
You can also take a plain knitted throw blanket.
I found this one at Ikea.
And then take some of your favorite color yarn.
I'm using some burnt oranges.
And use a running stitch
to create a plaid pattern on the blanket.
This is a really easy way to make a blanket
that you may already have in your stash
look a little bit more festive for the season.
And this one is extra simple.
Drape a plaid throw over your ottoman or your coffee table.
It adds a pattern and texture to the room
in about 10 seconds.
I put one here on my ottoman in my living room
and it makes it feel so much more festive.
Adding texture to your curtain decor
is a really simple way to make it look cozy
and chic for fall.
You can create your own DIY faux fur blanket.
You can buy one from Amazon.
I love this one.
And just simply adding that furry texture
to the decor you already have
is instantly gonna make it feel so cozy and inviting.
Now you can take two pool noodles.
I got mine at Dollar Tree.
And you can attach them together with zip ties
and put a few Dollar Tree candle holders in between them.
Then you can take some Dollar Tree faux florals
and push them into the pool noodles.
The pool noodles are going to act as some floral foam.
Key here is to cut up your florals into individual pieces
and use as many florals as possible
to make this look more high end.
Then you can add some candles to the candle holders
and this makes a gorgeous centerpiece for the season.
I love these burgundy stems from Amazon.
Burgundy is definitely a color
we're seeing a lot this season.
Adding them to a textured vase
and then using the triangle method on a tray
on your ottoman or your living room coffee table
to create a designer look.
So we have one tall item, which is the stems in a vase,
one medium item, and one short item.
And using this triangle method
as you're styling your space for the season
always looks amazing.
Amber glassware is everywhere at the thrift store
and this is something that you can easily find
at Value Village, Goodwill, et cetera,
and add to your fall tablescapes.
It gives such a warm and cozy look
and you don't have to have everything
exactly the same pattern.
You can grab a variety of different patterns
of glassware, vases, et cetera, in this amber color
and it's gonna look incredible.
Also from the thrift store,
there's always some amazing glassware that you can grab.
So you can grab a plate,
pick up a couple of different cups in various sizes
and some candle holders,
and then you can glue those containers onto the plate,
add some candles.
I also found these on the thrift store
and you create this gorgeous, special candle plate
that you can also use as a centerpiece
and make your home feel so cozy.
Fill a Dollar Tree hurricane vase
with some mini pumpkins and acorns.
Also from the Dollar Tree,
you can add some twinkle lights inside of that
and place it on a tray again
with a tall, medium, and short item
as another little centerpiece
or for your side table this season.
So easy and looks cozy and glowing.
Also from the Dollar Tree,
you can grab some faux fall leaf stems,
take off the individual leaves
and hot glue them to some napkin rings.
I found these rattan napkin rings on clearance at Ikea
and I thought they were the perfect texture for fall.
This adds so much to your tablescape
and they're super quick to make.
Dollar Tree gold frames can look really cheap and shiny
right out of the store,
but you can make them look antique
by picking up some brown colored paint,
also from Dollar Tree,
and applying that to the frames.
Then wipe off any excess once it's almost dry
and this gives your frames a beautiful antique look.
Once you have these antique frames from that last hack,
you can add some scrap fabric to the back of the frame.
Then you can take these Dollar Tree faux bundles
and glue them onto the fabric.
This makes some beautiful 3D art
that's perfect for the cozy season.
If you have a dated word art sign
just sitting in your closet somewhere or in storage,
you can upcycle it and create something amazing
for your home.
Simply print out an antique art print.
You can find lots of free ones online.
I'll link them in the description box below.
Send it to your local print center
and make sure they print at the same size as your sign.
Then you can use some Mod Podge
to apply that print to the inside of your old sign art
and then apply some more Mod Podge on top
using brush strokes to add lots of texture.
And this creates a beautiful vintage looking piece
for your mantle or your wall.
A DIY blanket ladder makes such a beautiful piece
for the fall and the winter season.
You can easily make one out of dowels
and copper pipe fittings
you can find at the hardware store.
Simply cut your dowels to the size that you want
and use the copper pipe fitting to create the ladder shape.
And I'm simply using some epoxy glue
to make everything fit together.
I'll leave the full tutorial for this one
down in the description box below
if you want the exact step-by-step version.
Swapping out some of your cabinet knobs
to a beautiful antique brass tone
is a really easy way to warm them up for the season.
My favorite antique brass knobs and pulls are from Amazon
and I love how they add this vintage vibe to my space.
I've used them everywhere from my kitchen cabinets
to my sideboard to the knobs
on the nightstands in my bedroom.
Swapping out your area rug to something with richer tones
is also a great way to decorate for fall.
My favorite area rugs are washable.
I have this beautiful brown-toned one in my living room.
I also have this gorgeous one
in these deep blues and green tones in my dining room.
They're really easy to clean
and I love how they make the space
instantly feel layered, elevated, and cozy.
Grab a mug or another heat-resistant container
from the thrift store
and you can create a beautiful candle from that.
I'm simply using some soy wax and some candle wick
to create my own at home.
It's such a cozy personal touch
and it's a fraction of the cost of buying a new candle.
You can make your home smell incredible
by simply taking some food scraps.
So I like using things like cloves, cinnamon sticks,
orange peels, apple peels,
and adding them to some simmering water on the stove.
Let it simmer on low for about half an hour
and then turn it off
and you'll still have this beautiful scent fill your home.
You can also fill a heat-resistant container with water,
add things like coffee beans, other aromatics,
and put it under a candle warmer
and this is also another great way
to add a beautiful scent to your space.
Instead of using your typical orange and red tones for fall,
you can consider other beautiful colors
like cream and green.
I created this wreath with a Michaels wreath base
and some faux florals that I had on hand,
some faux pumpkins from the dollar store,
and just simply used my hot glue gun
to glue everything in place
and I love how this one turned out.
To create a beautiful fall coffee station,
all you need to do is add some faux stems in fall tones.
Again, I'm loving these burgundy tones for the season.
I draped this faux leaf garland over my coffee station
and it instantly makes it look seasonal and gorgeous.
You can also simply swap your plain soap jars
in your bathroom for amber-toned ones.
I found some beautiful ones at Costco.
Even Dollarama has amber-toned bottles.
You can fill them up
with just some different Dollar Tree soap
and this amber-toned glass
is going to make your bathroom feel extra cozy.
Take a Dollar Tree leaf-shaped bowl.
I found mine in the seasonal section
and make your own baking soda paint
with some brown paint and some baking soda mixed together.
I usually use about one-to-one ratio.
Paint the leaf bowl all over, let it dry.
Paint it one or two more times
to make sure that you get everything covered
and it looks like some homemade pottery.
I love the texture of this.
You can mod podge some pressed florals onto pumpkins.
I love these black pumpkins I found
at my local pumpkin farm
to give them some extra texture and color for the season
and you can use them in a centerpiece,
on your mantle, or even on your front porch.
You could also take some Dollar Tree faux pumpkins
and use some chalk-style paint
or create your own baking soda paint once again
to give them more of a cottage cozy look.
For mine, I'm also adding some faux greenery on top
and a little bit of lace trim.
Also from Dollar Tree,
you can string some wooden beads onto twine,
add some of Dollar Tree's faux leaves
and use this as a garland for your mantle
or simply draped on a table centerpiece.
This is a great way to add some texture
and some warmth to your fall decor.
One of my favorite hacks
for creating a welcoming front door
is adding some pumpkins from my local pumpkin farm
onto my steps or add faux pumpkins if you'd like,
adding some mums or some faux florals
and then taking some string lights
and weaving them throughout.
I think that just adds so much gorgeous ambiance.
It's really beautiful at night.
And those are my 30 favorite ways
to make your home look cozy and beautiful
for the fall season.
