在物质贫乏但精神还自然舒展的1980年代，八面山区一位端公的女儿——牡丹面对10元班费的困境，虽有好心同学的热情帮助却终究难以为继，坦然面对命运的不确定性，没有顺从“人往好处走、水往低处流”的定势，却往云雾缭绕的八面山深处走去、接受自己的命运归宿。

In an era of 1980s with material poverty but fairly spiritual relaxation, a pitiful girl named Peony by her father who acted as a sorcerer in Eight-edges Mountains, en-counted by a big trouble of a fee of 10 yuan. Despite her good friends’ warm-hearted help, she decided to face frankly the uncertainty of fate en-counted in her own life, she didn’t follow the formula as most people, described in the famous old adage of “Man struggles upwards, while water goes upwards”, but upward entered into the deep of the Eight-edges Mountains, shrouded in clouds and mist, to accepted her own destiny.
