Welcome to Tour Constructor guys and today we've got a 2012 XR650L with us and we're
just going to run through the top five basic upgrades to make this bike more livable.
So the first thing on the list is a handlebar razor.
This handlebar comes out quite low, so I did put a small razor in there, it's 25mm, just
to lift it out of your lap and make it more comfortable when standing through the technical
sections.
Second on the list is this small, little, lovely brake light.
The stock standard one is huge and quite big, for example here.
So yes, a little bit of a tail tuck here, smaller number plate and a small brake light.
It does have a white light for you to reflect on the number plate when you're riding at
night, but I tend to try and avoid that.
Third on the list is a air filter, factory air filter, it's a paper air filter, quite
a chunky little metal box, so I opted for a more enduro type of style air filter, also
much more compact when you have to ride with a spare.
If something happens tomorrow, what legacy would you leave behind?
It's not just about what you own, it's about making sure the people you care about are
protected and provided for.
With the right planning, everything is clearly set out, no confusion, no unnecessary stress.
Your legacy deserves clarity, care and peace of mind.

Number four on the list will be a slightly bigger header and a silencer.
The header takes you from the factory's 29mm header tube to a 35mm.
This still got the factory headers on here and the factory silencer, but it's a nice
little upgrade.
It gives you a boost in power and the silencer will obviously give you a little bit more
of a throaty sound to not make this bike sound like some delivery bike.
Also a big weight reduction in the silencer, we'll put that on the scale now and then you
can see how much you can actually throw off this bike.
Much of the guys say that this bike is tuned to lean from the factory, so a good idea would
be to also run the jets bigger when you do upgrade the headers and the silencer.
Factory silencer coming in at a humongous, fat, bulky 2,900, let's call it 40 grams,
so it's 2.9kgs, so obviously a good reduction, well possible reduction, let's see what the
other one weighs.
So this is a nice aftermarket silencer, let's call it a no-name brand, for 1,706 grams,
so let's call it 1.7kgs, so what, that's 1.9, 1.2, a weight reduction of 1.2kgs there, which
will be quite comfortable and welcome if you take the complete weight of the bike in consideration.
And the last of our top five suggestions for upgrades on this bike is the footpegs, I put
this last because it's the most comfortable upgrade I did on this bike, it's quite a big
improvement from the factory standard, factory fitted footpeg, so you can see the size difference,
so yeah, definitely out with the old, in with the new.
So and that's our top five upgrades for the Honda XR650R, thanks for watching and please
