Andrew Boushell Performing - Wild Mountain Thyme - Francis McPeake arr. Stephen Wake

In this edition of 'Workshop Sessions' we have Andrew Boushell performing 'Wild Mountain Thyme', a very famous tune, originally written by Francis McPeake. This arrangement is by Stephen Wake.

Andy's Bio:
"Andy is originally from Dublin but now libes in East Lothian. He currently plays guitar and Bodhrán for the group, Systir, with whom he has toured, performed and recorded extensively for the past 2 years. Including performances in Iceland, Italy, Ireland, Finland and China.

Despite playing guitar, Andy is primarily a singer and is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, Lond and Operastudio Vlaanderen in Belgium. He has performed as a soloist in both operas and concerts at prestigious venues such as The National Concert Hall in Dublin, St Georges Hanover Square in London, Brugge Concertcentruum in Bruges, De Singel in Antwerp and Handel Halle in Germany.

Besides his solo engagements, he is a current member of the ensembles Anúna and M'ANAM and also holds an MA enthomusicology from University College Cork, where his own research focused on the influence of Irish song on diasporic identity."


The guitar he is playing was a custom order from a client, it is one of my 'Jazz Hybrid' Nylon string models. Essentially these guitars are somewhere between a traditional Classical and a Steel String. This one actually leans more towards a Classical in terms of the neck widths, quite often on the hybrid models I lean towards slimmer neck profiles. But we still have the cutaway for access to the higher frets and the string heights are slightly lower than traditional Classical, demonstrated nicely in this demo video by Andrew.

This guitar features a Euro Spruce top with Ebony back/sides, cedar neck, ebony fingerboard/headplate and bridge.
