After Losing Daughter, Dad Dedicates His Life to Saving 60 Foster Kids - Dr. John DeGarmo

Dr. John DeGarmo lost his firstborn daughter at birth. It was a devastating moment that fueled the rest of his life - a life devoted to caring for children in the foster care system. John is the director and founder of the Foster Care Institute and the author of 13 books. He and his wife have been foster parents to more than 60 children, providing a loving household for kids who have suffered greatly amid a variety of troubled or toxic homes. John talks about the deep joy it brings by giving foster kids the gift of love and kindness. The end goal of foster care, he says, is not adoption, but reunification. However, foster care can lead to adoption in some cases, as it did for himself and his wife three times over!
