The Art of Slow Living in the Countryside | Finding Coziness in the August Days: Cottagecore Habits

Slow living in the countryside during the cozy days of August — seasonal harvesting, cottagecore homemaking, preserving vegetables for winter, cozy cooking, gardening, flowers, and sewing.
In this late-summer countryside video, I gather the last zucchini from the garden, preserve seasonal vegetables for winter, cook a homemade dinner, press summer flowers, bake a farmer’s cheese pie, and sew checkered pillowcases with lace and ruffles for our upcoming camping trip by the lake.
🥒 I harvest the last zucchini of the season and try a new preserving recipe with zucchini, bell peppers, carrots, onions, herbs, and spices, filling jars with a little taste of summer for the colder months ahead.
🍽️ For dinner, I make stuffed onions with rice and ground meat, dried apricots and prunes, together with cheesy baked eggplant — simple seasonal cooking inspired by the garden and everyday countryside life.
🌸 Around the garden, the grapes are beginning to ripen, a pumpkin is still growing, and the last cosmos flowers are slowly fading. I collect a few summer flowers and finally use my flower press to preserve a small piece of the season.
🪡 As we prepare for our first two-day camping trip by the lake, I sew two checkered pillowcases from second-hand fabric, adding lace, ruffles, and handmade ties to make our little temporary home in nature feel cozy.
🍰 Between sewing and everyday homemaking, I bake a simple farmer’s cheese pie while enjoying these warm August days and the gentle transition from late summer toward early autumn.
