Breathtaking Perennial Gardens at a Connecticut Country Home | Garden Tour & Inspiration
Interior designer Philip Gorrivan never strolls through his garden in Washington, Connecticut, without a pair of pruning shears in hand. When Philip acquired this late-18th-century home, it sat on a plot so densely wooded that the house was barely visible from the road. The initial years were dedicated primarily to clearing work: thinning out trees, rebuilding old stone walls, and opening up the space to light. An unexpected and delightful discovery emerged: once the vegetation was cleared, he found striking rock outcroppings on the property; these became the foundation for the raised perennial beds that now define the garden's character.
