Multi-state rescue team frees manatee trapped in crab lines

A rescue team from the Georgia DNR successfully saved a manatee near St. Simons Island that was severely entangled in crab trap lines. The operation, which took two days, involved drone surveillance and careful disentanglement to prevent the animal from drowning during low tide. The manatee was eventually freed and tagged for satellite tracking to monitor its recovery.
