McKenna Earnhardt. She's talking about new developments and attempted armed
truck robbery on Bel Air Boulevard. Now we do understand that Houston police are confirming
two teenagers, teenagers. They are charged with aggravated robbery. This is after they were trying
to rob an armored truck that happened on Tuesday. So McKenna Earnhardt joining us live on Bel Air
Boulevard where it all happened. And I know that you have some new details on the suspect's
Yeah, Raji. So this all happened at this Ace Cash Express here right on Bel Air Boulevard
and Chimney Rock Road. And so last we heard from HPD, both the 16 and the 17-year-old
were still in the hospital in stable condition, both facing felony aggravated robbery charges.
The 17-year-old is known as Aiden Bazey. And they were with a 20-year-old whose name is
Denia Pope. And she's charged with a felony tampering with evidence. And so when I started
digging in to court records today, I saw that both Denia and Aiden, that's the 20-year-old
and the 17-year-old, both have prior run-ins with police. And so court records show the 20-year-old
Denia Pope, she's currently completing a three-year deferred adjunction sentence for 2024
evading arrest charge. Meanwhile, records show 17-year-old Aiden Bazey was charged with felony
aggravated robbery back in April near Heights High School, though court records show that
specific charge was dismissed in June. Now, Bazey's also claimed on social media that he
committed to play football at Missouri State. But Associate Athletic Director Rick Reinhart
confirmed to me today that Bazey's not enrolled, has not signed, and has zero connection to the
university. And that NCAA rules prevent them from commenting on the likelihood of any prospective
athlete committing or signing in the future. And experts with Prairie View A&M's College of
Juvenile Justice say adults hanging out with minors is a major red flag for peer pressure.
When you're dealing with youth that are a little older, some youth that are younger than you have
adult interactions, I would say when it comes to the true interactions, you have to be very
cautious because the older person knows the youth is more impressionable. They're more
likely to do what they say. So when you have an older person giving direction to a younger person,
especially in a negative manner, they're more impressionable.
They're gonna see the light in whatever they're saying, so they're gonna go at.
Loomis, which is the armored truck company that the driver who got bear spray works for,
tell me they are fully cooperating with law enforcement. And HPD is asking
anyone with information to please reach out directly to their robbery division.
For Fox 26, I'm McKenna Earnhardt.
