AI GeneratedA talk show panel explores a diverse range of trending topics, from celebrity mental health and unconventional social events to legal rulings on insurance and urban management. The discussion balances perspectives on personal empowerment, public accountability, and the intersection of professional standards and personal expression.
That's our principal question tonight.
No, no, it's not.
Welcome to the show.
It is a Wednesday night.
Happy to have you here tonight.
Al Reynolds is back in the house with you.
You were you were you were here
on the take it to on Monday.
Yes, you did not leave the cup upstairs,
did you? No, no.
Well, we're still trying to get to the
bottom of that, cause last night when
they were moving the cameras around the
studio we found a cup that was still
stashed up up there and we're trying
to figure out who's OK.
It's my cup. It's my cup.
I'm so sorry, was it really?
Yes, seriously.
OK, because we were because
because apparently here's the thing.
I don't really get.
I know it's all interesting to you,
but but I'll tell you Marina said
she didn't think it was you because
you had a Tate cup.
I had both cups.
Oh, OK, so I had a T for my voice
and then I had a coffee.
The point is, the point of this is so
that Jim could say he's right to Marina.
And she'll make some other.
She'll be like, no, really, I was.
No, I didn't.
I didn't go.
I had.
I just said we were just trying to name.
Anyway, welcome to the show tonight.
Kenneth is here at Kayla.
It's been a while since you've been in.
It has been a long time since I've been on,
so I'm allowed back.
I guess my probationary period is over.
Deep breath.
I mean, you know, you're kind of like,
well, I guess I gotta do this again.
It's sort of like work release.
I it really is because I feel like
I haven't done one of our talk shows
and didn't quite even know where to look.
Oh right here in in a long time.
Too much weather, so it's good.
It's good to see you guys still look great.
I must tell you I haven't worked
with you in a while,
but you still look beautiful.
Thank God, but that's so sweet.
Alright, appreciate it.
What do you come over?
Like you look rough.
It's been a while.
No wonder you haven't been.
How are you aging quickly?
Let's fire it up.
Ariana Grande is setting the record
straight about her plans to step
away from the spotlight during
an emotional four minute speech
at her concert in Chicago.
She told her fans her upcoming break
has been in the works for a long time
and it's not a reaction to recent
headlines or online criticism.
Grande says her tour has been one of
the most healing experiences of her life,
but added everyone needs time to recharge.
So Al, let's start with you.
Ariana giving her some time to relax.
Like it or not, listen,
let me tell you something.
I really like this because if you
really think about it,
she's just like the rest of us.
She's human.
She may be a superstar,
but her feelings are made of tissue
and blood and a heartbeat just like
ours and we can't expect them to
always always be authentic to
expect them to be transparent.
And then when they are,
we jump on them.
That's not fair.
I am in support of her taking a step away.
If that's what she needs to continue
to be the great female that she
has been so over the last decade
and motivating all women,
including men too,
then take your time you need.
I think with her,
there was a lot of speculation about her health
because she's tiny.
She's a tiny little thing.
And she looks like she's lost some weight
and I think people were weighing in on that.
I can't imagine like seeing all that criticism,
seeing all that speculation about your health online.
Right, or just how you look in general
and just how you are in general.
It's, I mean, I do sympathize.
I mean, I feel like we get a very,
very small taste of that just being on TV
and criticism sometimes really stings,
but at that level and I mean,
it had been ramping up for her for a long time,
mostly about her weight.
She hasn't said that this break
has anything to do with it.
You could infer that it does,
maybe it doesn't,
it doesn't really matter.
I think that that all leads to the exhaustion level,
the burnout level,
when you're on tour,
when you're making movies,
when you're doing so much,
she just needs a mental health break
like a lot of us would.
Caitlin, to your point,
being a celebrity is hard.
I know it well.
And sometimes you just,
sometimes you just need a break.
No, no, really, this is a,
this really is about mental health.
And sometimes I go back and forth about,
depending on the celebrity about,
these celebrities like,
look, love me, love me, love me,
know everything about me,
but only what I want you to know.
And so when sometimes when the fans go a little crazy,
a little overboard,
and want to know more and push more,
then it's like,
oh no, now I'm pulling back here.
And so I think you can't pick and choose.
But again, to Al's point,
yes, we're all human,
all the same here.
And so I feel like on a human level,
you have to feel for her,
give her the space,
and she's being open with people.
I agree with that.
I want to point out that she had been signed on
to do a production of Sunday in the Park
with George in the West End.
It is a Stephen Sondheim musical.
She's starring with her co-star from Wicked,
Jonathan Bailey.
So she had signed on to something else.
She pulled out of that production.
So I mean, I think that there may have been something,
I don't know necessarily if it was always planned planned,
but I think you still have to respect somebody's idea
that they're doing what's best for them.
So let her take the time off
and then get back into whatever she wants to do next.
I never really cared much about her as an artist,
but then I said,
hold on a second.
So when I saw Wicked, I'm like, my God,
like she was amazing and funny too.
I feel the same way.
That's when she really stood out to me in that role too.
Not that I didn't like her before,
I guess I was just like wowed by it.
I mean, her music wasn't necessarily something
that spoke to me,
but when I see her other abilities and talents,
I'm like, okay, I get it.
She is blessed with that voice.
Absolutely.
That voice is amazing.
All right, one woman's divorce party
has the internet begging for the tea.
She created the poster
listing the 10 worst things her ex-husband did
while they were married
so guests could understand why she was celebrating.
She says only a small group of people
knew what she went through,
so it was freeing that right away
from the conversation anymore.
Kaylin, is this empowering closure
or just taking things a little too far?
I mean, it's kind of funny.
I think I like it.
I mean, she's getting divorced.
She's not just roasting her husband.
So I think she can air some dirty laundry.
I mean, this is breaking up.
They're not together.
So I get it.
I don't even know what she was doing,
showing how he irons his pants or something.
So it doesn't really seem like it's really low blows
or like really private information.
I mean, it would depend.
Like if it's really private information then,
you know, what if it sees,
you know, getting chip crumbs everywhere?
Not that I know anyone who would do that.
Ooh.
Do tell.
I'm not getting divorced, so I wouldn't know.
A certain morning meteorologist chief here at Fox News.
I think people should spend as much time as they do
like leading up to like preparing for like the nuptials
as in when you get a divorce,
spend as much time as being petty.
And I like a little petty, a little petty work.
You think there should be as much of like,
as much of a lead up.
Petty Labelle over here.
Yeah, all of that.
So then, okay, now we're getting divorced.
That's like, let's list out the whole reasons
why it happened.
Why, especially if a bunch of people came to your wedding,
traveled there, gave gifts.
I need to know exactly why you're getting divorced.
So give me all the details.
So I need a PowerPoint presentation
and to let me know why I spent whatever I spent
on those pots and pans.
Al?
Well, let me tell you something.
I don't think there's anything wrong with a little petty tea,
but it doesn't show growth to me.
And that doesn't show, if you're celebrating a new life,
why are you bringing your past into your future?
To me, that's me.
I think the real growth here, the real lit back, hit back,
is when you don't even talk about them,
when you don't even acknowledge them anymore,
when you erase them off your social media,
when you block them and then you get them out your life.
That, to me, is the best lit back.
And by the way, I mean, think about it.
That's what, in the last 20 years,
that's how it's all changed.
That's how you get closure,
not just about putting them in your past,
but making sure they're in your digital past,
going through it.
I mean, that's the thing,
because otherwise, every year you get the memories
that come back.
Right, you have to.
And I'm a sucker for a reconnect.
Yeah.
I mean, that's probably why I'm single now.
I'm waiting for another reconnect.
But I'm a sucker for it.
So if I put you, if I block you,
I won't give you the room to bring the energy back to me.
That's my survival mechanism.
There you go.
Use it if it works for you.
Don't, $2 will get you a ride on the train.
Okay, guys, we've been talking about this one
around the newsroom,
so we couldn't wait to talk about this on the show.
A Florida steakhouse is saying,
no shirt, no shoes, no pants, no problem.
The Class Soiree Steakhouse in Hollywood, Florida
is offering nude dining on the first Monday of every month.
Tickets cost 250 bucks for men,
150 for women, and 300 for couples.
The staff will be fully clothed,
except for the host,
who says when you walk through the door,
she won't have on clothes
to help make those coming to dine more comfortable.
It's also important to note,
you cannot see inside of the restaurant.
The owner says he came up with the idea
to attract new business and create buzz.
Kenneth, like it or not.
When I said, show me the beef,
this is not what I was talking about.
Also, like the only thing I'm thinking about,
when you're going to this place,
clothes have a way of masking smells.
And now you're just letting that all hang out, literally.
And I just, look, you brought this to me.
I'm gonna tell you what I think.
And I just think this is a horrible, terrible idea.
What smells are we referencing?
Whatever body smells you got going on,
the clothes will mask that as hybrids.
When's the last time you went to a steakhouse
and you smelled somebody's smell bad?
Well, if nobody was naked at the steakhouse,
I went to last time either.
I mean, now, Sizzler's a little bit different.
You know, if you go to a Sizzler or a Ponderosa, but yeah.
Well, I guess I'm the only freaky deaky here.
I am a naturist.
I'm also believe in naturism.
So I believe in body positivity.
I like clothes, obviously,
but I like it better when they're off.
So for me, I'm all for this.
I'm all for the experience.
I'm all for the freedom.
Only thing that I don't,
that I appreciate being a naturist
is that it's nothing sexual as it relates to that.
It's all about a healthy sense of body.
So for me, I am signing up.
Let me know.
Let me get my reservation on the book
and I'll see you there, letting it all hang out.
Okay.
Be careful with that steak knife.
Exactly.
Like there's no protection, I think,
between food and skin.
I just, who's cleaning this place after everybody leaves?
Unless we're at home, you know.
You've never been to a nudist camp.
You've never been a part of a nudist community.
So you eat there too, everybody.
You use utensils.
I mean, it's all the same.
I know, but this is like,
it's in a public place in like a building that,
and then you have to commit, right?
Cause you can't go back and forth
where people with clothes then come on.
Cause they're sitting on the seats
where the nude butts were sitting.
Hold on guys, I'm being told.
I'm being told we might run long tonight.
All right.
Think about the cleanup.
And are you taking your parents?
I will make direct eye contact with my mother.
I am not.
Oh my God, you're doing too much.
No, I'm just saying, mom, I love you,
but I'm making direct eye contact.
I'm assuming it's for couples.
Oh, I would hope so.
I really think they should charge the women less.
In fact, the women should probably eat for free.
By the way, I do know that back home
there is a bowling alley,
and this is not the one that my dad owned growing up.
There's a bowling alley that does a naked bowling night.
And they will wallpaper the windows
so you can't look inside and do all that.
So, but I think everybody associates,
you associate nudity with sexuality.
Yeah, it's totally two different things.
All right.
That brings us to our Fox 5 Lion Instapoll question.
Dining in the nude.
27% of you like it, 73% of you say no.
Go vote at fox5vc.com, I'm sorry, .com slash lion.
What?
We're back at it this year.
I don't know if you like it or not.
Yeah.
You have to, you have to come.
Why didn't he have clothes on when we were?
Hey, welcome back.
It turns out being single can cost you behind the wheel.
A California appeals court has ruled
that insurers can continue using marital status
as a factor when setting rates.
According to a report by a trade group,
the Personal Insurance Federation of California,
married drivers tend to file fewer claims.
Consumer advocates say single, divorced,
or widowed drivers can pay anywhere from $56 to $100 more
than married drivers.
And it's not just California.
Maryland also allows insurers to consider marital status
when calculating rates in Virginia.
Insurers can set rates using statistical data
that can include marital status.
So Caitlin, does marriage mean anything
when it comes to your car insurance?
No, and as it should not.
I actually hate this because it's discriminatory
towards single people.
Like they have a harder time.
I mean, you have one income.
Harder time doing what?
Like you just can't, you know.
You can't just like, you know,
hit someone up for a couple bucks
if like, you know, you're trying to make
your auto insurance premium payment, so.
They don't have anyone to take them to the steakhouse.
Yeah, that part might be good.
There are a lot of benefits to being single.
I agree, but you shouldn't be punished.
I don't think that that should be the case.
And I mean, I think that we see a lot of breaks
for married people, tax breaks.
So single people don't get those.
Let's at least just give them their premiums
as the same amount.
They shouldn't have to pay more.
I don't like it.
Why don't we go, because GEICO is up,
you know, GEICO's headquarters are like,
let's go upstairs and let's, do we take Flo?
Oh no, Flo, that's it.
The lizard.
The lizard, that's right.
Well, you know, this is nothing new.
Companies charge or have been charging people fees
based on their statistics that they gather, right?
So now they're basically saying,
we are gonna shift that model to one
based on personal characteristics.
I mean, personal behaviors.
Yeah.
So.
Let's, I wanna go up to Deja in the control room
on this one, get her take on.
I don't like this.
Because first of all, I feel like now I'm being forced.
To be married, but I'm like,
I feel like if you're married,
there's more people driving the car.
You probably have kids.
There's more distractions, more doing stuff.
When it's just me, it's just me.
I'm just sitting there.
So I don't, I really don't understand this.
I don't like it.
And then I'm like, it's also like,
if you're widowed, like they still do it.
I think it's crazy.
I don't like this.
Well, if you're widowed
because of the other spouse's driving,
then I can understand that.
There you go.
That would be, yeah, you're more of a liability.
They do this already, guys.
Remember, when you first get your license
between the ages of 16 and 20,
you pay a higher premium because you're a newer driver.
You're a newer driver.
So they feel like maybe because you're single,
you're a little bit riskier.
Can I add this though, too, to the insurance debate?
Are you riskier, Jim?
I mean, I've, I've not had a claim.
No.
Not even a speeding ticket?
I said a claim.
Said a claim, Al.
Let's move on.
If New York City drivers don't move their car
for street sweeping,
they could be in for some literal sticker shock.
Drivers who ignore the alternate side parking rules
could soon face more than a $65 ticket.
The city is now sticking bright green stickers
designed to be hard to miss and a little embarrassing.
The stickers were used for about 25 years
after being banned in 2012 amid complaints
they were too difficult to remove
and sometimes damaged windows.
But this year, city council bringing them back,
saying the new version uses a less aggressive adhesive
and it basically says,
we couldn't clean the street because of this car.
Kenneth, should we publicly shame drivers?
Shame, shame, shame.
I'm like, I just hate when you just,
at first I was okay with it,
but then you mentioned about a hard to get off sticker.
I'm like, oh yeah.
Cause I remember in Philadelphia that, you know,
remember Caitlin, fill up your girl over here,
the PPA, they are terrible at putting stickers
in the boots and everything else like that.
The boots are very hard to get off as well.
Not that I know from experience.
Or they just tow you.
But I also, like parking is so predatory.
Like the parking enforcement can be so predatory.
And I find like, if you're doing things like that,
it'd be so, it's just so annoying, stop.
But also people pay your fines.
If you're in the wrong, you're in the wrong.
Appeal if you need to appeal, but otherwise, I don't know.
Yeah, I mean, if you're the type that complains that,
you know, tickets are unfair and I get it.
And I think in many cases they are,
but you know, once a ticket's issued, you know,
you can fight city hall all you want,
but the reality is more times than not,
unless you have a good case,
you're still on the hook for it.
Right. Yeah.
Well, I've lived in New York City
for over 20 years, correct?
So I was here in the nineties and the early two thousands
when that adhesive thing that even Goo Gone couldn't get on.
But I have to agree,
especially in a city like New York City,
public humiliation creates a bit of accountability
that makes people do the right thing, unfortunately.
But fortunately for New Yorkers,
now remember it's New York City.
If you leave that one car there,
that garbage truck is not going to come.
It's not going to clean that street.
And that garbage then multiplies,
like it feels like they haven't come in weeks.
And then you have rats and you have infestation.
So I like this.
Yeah, it's a nightmare.
You got to move your cars.
I mean, I remember when I lived in more downtown DC,
every third Thursday of the month,
May through October, whatever, you got to move your car.
You just have to do it.
Because to your point, it just creates too much chaos.
Like we should be allowing people to come
and sweep the streets.
We live in a society.
Yeah.
We're sharing these streets with people.
Be nice to everybody else.
Thank you for your fellow neighbors.
Do your part.
Jim, you got to move your car.
I do move my car.
He's responsible.
I try to be most of the time.
Very good.
The college football season's about to begin
and one team is looking to make the day special
for one lucky fan, the University of Akron.
Go Zips!
Giving one lucky season ticket holder
the chance to be the team's offensive coordinator
for a game, at least for the opening drive.
The winner will work with the head coach
to script the first series of plays for the home opener
against Robert Morris University.
Al, what do we think here?
Getting fans in on the action later tonight.
I really love this.
I teach this in my entertainment marketing class
all the time.
I tell my students, if you have people a part
of creating the experience or creating the product
or creating what they need,
they are more supportive of it.
So if you are talking, even ownership,
ownership is a great feeling for people
that are trying to be a part of an experience.
And Marriott International have made millions of dollars
incorporating this into their brand.
So I'm here for all of this.
Yeah.
Can you mention Penn State?
No, I'm going to skip you on this one.
You already skipped me one other time.
But who's keeping count?
I know how much you care about sports,
so I do want to hear it from you.
No, no, no, no.
Jim, go ahead.
Finish your thought.
I was kind of weird.
Just in that, like how does this benefit the team?
I mean, I'm kind of like,
oh God, they work so hard to come up with their plays
and they're trying to win and they're trying to score.
Like, what do these people know about it?
I mean, so the offense,
they're the ones who run the ball.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right?
Oh, Lord.
Okay, no, no, no.
Actually, I love it because-
It's a road to catch.
This actually will give all the friends I have
who are like, they could do it better.
They're yelling at the TV screen or in the stands.
They're yelling at the field going,
what were they thinking?
Now you have an opportunity to stand in those shoes
and see if you can make a better decision.
No, that's exactly it.
But I'll tell you one thing.
If you want to really piss off
a professional football player,
talk about your fantasy team to them
because they love to hear that.
That's true.
Oh, they don't like it if they're not good on the fantasy.
Well, that and also the fact
that they're not making any money off your fantasy.
They care less about it.
And I can't blame them for judging you
for bringing it up.
I'll tell you all a story about that during the break.
Okay.
Not involving me.
When you come back, as you age, Kenneth,
you might want to switch up your look.
After the break, we'll show how,
why one well-known anchor
is thinking of taking it way back.
That's not me.
Are you kidding?
It's fine.
The second most popular news anchor
from South Carolina ever,
Craig Milvan is asking fans for some hair advice
and he's considering a throwback look.
The host of the Today Show,
hey, yeah.
The host of the Today Show gave fans
a behind the scenes look at his transformation
on social media,
then debuted the new hairstyle on the show
and wanted to know if he thinks
the viewers should keep growing it out.
He even joked about bringing back
a kid and play style high top
or going all the way with locks and braids.
Co-host Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer
are already showing support,
but the internet is divided.
Al, what do we think?
Do we like Craig Milvan's look here?
Listen, I like, listen,
you guys know I've been on a hair journey
for a very long time.
I've had dreads, I've been bald.
I have this, the slick back now.
I enjoy, I enjoy the fact
that he's incorporating his fans
into, you know, his hair journey.
I like the fact that he now
has a high top fade almost
and it looks something totally different
than what he's ever tried.
So maybe this might be a new part of himself
that he's tapping into.
I'm here for it.
Okay, can I, let me just,
let me just opine on this for a second
because my attitude is, okay,
you're the anchor of the Today Show.
This is a job that people have aspired to.
And I don't think, well,
the most Matt Lauer ever got
into his hair journey was buzzing it off.
But before that, I just think it's weird
as a news anchor, like asking the viewers,
what should my look be on TV?
Be yourself, don't worry about what people say
and have a good time.
Well, he clearly hasn't been himself.
That's why he's asking to be himself, right?
Because as a news anchor, like you said,
in one of the top national networks,
he can't just like have any look that he wants, right?
Could be.
Which is also an issue with broadcast journalism.
I mean, I've been doing this for some time
and shout out to Craig.
We go way back to South Carolina, like 25 years.
Good Lord.
Craig actually, he gave me a hand-me-down suit once.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But not the hair.
He kept that.
I had hair when I knew him or when I first met him.
But yeah, so I like it because I usually think
that people should be able, who are on the air,
should be able to do what they want
because for years we've been told you can't wear this.
That's right.
You can't wear that.
You can't do your, a friend told me yesterday
who was in another market,
she was saying that she has vacation hair
and she was told, she was called by her general manager
and the general manager was like, so that looks different.
Why are you even commenting on it, right?
We could talk a whole lot about this,
but we're flat out of time on this.
So we gotta go to the poll question.
Sorry, Kaitlin.
Oh, that's okay.
I liked it.
We're gonna talk more about dining in the nude.
Do you like it or not?
Fox5dc.com slash lion.
Go vote.
Come back after this.
