In this edition of One Tank Trips, we're taking you to a place where you can spend some quality time with dozens of different kinds of animals.
We are taking you to a place where you can swim with the otters, feed the sloths, or just spend
some quality time with dozens of different kinds of animals. It looks really cool. Coastal Wilds
in Delaware aims to create meaningful connections between people and animals and to inspire a passion
for wildlife conservation. Coastal Wilds offers a range of different experiences with animals at
varying price points. It's located in Franklin, Delaware, right near the Delaware beaches, about 15
minutes from Bethany. Action News Photojournalist Leigh Leanne Cayati takes us there. Coastal Wilds
is a ZAA accredited zoological facility. We have over 45 unique species of animal ambassadors
and we like to focus on hands-on and up-close encounters with our animal ambassadors.
Right now we're in the kangaroo walkabout. The kangaroos are some of our more fun, playful
animal ambassadors that we have. We'll do activities like kangaroo yoga with them, but we also have
just a hands-on tour of this area where you'll get to sit down and actually pet a kangaroo and
kind of hang out with them and see how playful they are. So this is my buddy Thor. He's one of
the kangaroos that you'll be able to meet in the kangaroo walkabout. He's super handsome.
He's very soft, very playful, and of course he's not camera shy at all.
Another experience that we have is our swim with otters. So that's our ultimate otter swim
is that ticket includes the encounter tour, but it also allows you to go 45 minutes
in the pool with two of our otters. And he's always had the dream of coming and spending
some time with them and petting them and we definitely got to do that today. This was a
dream come true for you. Yeah, a dream come true. I loved how they wrestled.
And he also kept like shaking my pocket, maybe putting stuff in it, I don't know.
I liked at the end like you laid down your towels and they would like rub all over your
towels when you dried off. I like that. In their little cradle in here we have Sophie
and her baby Frankie. Adding a sloth encounter to your ticket. We're feeding them green bell pepper.
You'll get to go into the sloth room for a good 15 minutes and you'll get to see the sloth very
up close. Perfect. You'll have an opportunity to feed them a piece of vegetable that they like.
And so we've got plenty of fun petting zoo style animals. Most of them are all
hands-on. They'll approach the fence and you'll be able to give them a little pet and say hello.
We had a great time. Yeah, we had a great time. Recommended to anybody.
We had a great time just watching it. That was Action News photojournalist Leanne Chaote
reporting. If you're looking for a place to go and would like to see all of our One Tank trips,
we've created a page on our website. You can check it out. It's abc.com slash one tank trips
