I’m in the process of launching a foster-based nonprofit in Ontario focused on extremely small dogs with complex medical needs, as well as providing financial assistance for veterinary care and grooming to pet owners in need.

AI GeneratedA professional groomer provides the first grooming experience for three Pomeranian puppies: Biscuit, Susie, and Theo. The video demonstrates the bathing, drying, and brushing process while sharing educational insights about the Pomeranian breed's history, physical variations, and common health concerns to emphasize the importance of early grooming socialization.
Today we're grooming Susie, Theo, and Biscuit.
Three absolutely adorable, fluffy, perfect, loving Pomeranian puppies.
But the real question is,
how do they feel about their very first professional grooming appointment?
Who's my first victim?
We're starting with Biscuit.
Oh little puppies.
First baths.
Biscuit is getting bathed today using my Pure Fur shampoo
because it's scent-free, tear-free, hypoallergenic,
and perfect for delicate little puppy skin.
Hi little pup.
This is Duck.
Biscuit didn't love the bath,
but honestly, he was exceptionally well behaved.
I can tell that this definitely wasn't his first bath,
just his first time being professionally judged for it.
After the bath, we shared some kisses,
and it was time for the blow dry.
You're so cute.
It's okay, you don't have to shake.
Hi.
Oh, thank you so much.
Oh, thank you.
You have puppy breath.
So cute.
Blow dry time, little Theo.
It's okay.
It's okay, buddy.
Hey, it's okay.
I'm drying these guys today using my regular handheld dryer
because if I pulled out my high velocity dryer,
there's a very real chance that one of them would end up in another province.
Take it off, he's breathing weird.
Let's distract you with some treats while I give you a brush.
You like treats.
Look what's that.
Look over here.
Yes, treats.
You're just gonna lay in them?
Look at them all.
Okay, eat some foods while I shave your butts
because you've got some poops on it
because you're a Pomeranian.
There, it's much better.
Thanks.
Thank you.
Oh, you're so freaking cute.
You have daggers.
Thank you for all the kisses.
That one's short.
That was right in my lips.
It's nasty.
Pomeranians require regular grooming and brushing throughout their entire lives.
So it's really important that they get used to the process while they're still young.
They're sleeping.
Can you hear them snoring?
Okay, but I got to see.
Nope, nope, nope.
Okay, we distract.
We distract.
Treat dispenser over here.
And just like that, Biscuit is all finished,
looking freshly buttered up and ready to cause chaos.
Number two is a girl.
Do you like treats?
Next up is his sister Susie.
Susie is the largest of the litter and has more of a foxy face look.
Oh, jeez.
Okay, you have more ambition than your brother.
This is Duck.
Pomeranians generally fall into two face types,
the fox face and the teddy bear face.
Fox face palms have a longer muzzle,
a more pointed profile,
and tend to resemble the original Spit's ancestors.
While teddy bear types have a shorter muzzle,
rounder eyes,
and a more baby doll appearance.
Both are purebred Pomeranians,
just different expressions of the breed.
You're okay, Pup.
Poor baby.
Okay, yeah, okay.
Okay, give you a little blow dry.
You're feisty, so you have to have the grooming loop.
Originally, Pomeranians were much larger dogs,
weighing closer to 30 pounds,
and were bred as hardy working Spit's dogs
used for herding and guarding in cold climates.
Over time, they were selectively bred down in size,
especially after Queen Victoria fell in love with the breed.
Resulting in the tiny fluff balls that we see today.
This one here is gonna be really good for grooming
when it's an adult,
and she tolerated the brush really well.
Her brother did not like the brush.
Brush was enemy number one.
Okay, now clip.
I'm just taking off a little bit,
just to get you used to it.
Okay, you're a good girl.
You're a good girl.
I'm gonna have some treat.
We don't really care as much for the treats as Theo did.
Look, there, there's more.
She doesn't care for it.
Susie was incredibly well behaved for everything,
and gave me the most adorable head tilts throughout her groom,
which made it physically impossible for me to remain professional.
Tinks.
All done.
Once Susie was finished,
it was time for the tiniest of the litter.
This is my last victim.
Theo.
Hi.
Oh, he doesn't really care for me.
Excuse me.
Okay, time for bath.
Yep, this one just backed up like Melvin too.
Are you a Melvin?
Pomeranians are generally a healthy breed,
but they can be prone to issues like collapsing trachea,
dental disease,
luxating patellas,
and heart conditions.
This is why it's so important to either purchase from a breeder
who does proper health testing,
or consider rescuing.
Responsible breeding and ethical rescue
both help to ensure that these dogs live long, comfortable, happy lives.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Aww.
Wanna stay here?
I can add you to the Melvin collection.
Whoops, whoops.
You don't like it?
I can take it off,
but I don't think you're gonna like the dryer.
Okay, okay.
Careful.
Theo did not love the blow dryer,
but holy mackerel,
is he ever the cutest thing I've seen in my entire life?
Hi.
Oh, you do not like the brush.
See, I am not friends with the brush.
It's okay.
Treat?
Oh, these back ones like don't even exist.
Oh.
Can be bribed with food.
Finished it.
Good job.
He's got it on his nose too.
Hey.
You have the most itty bitty tiny nails.
These are not even worth clipping.
I don't have any more food.
Very food motivated.
He reminds me so much of my Pomeranian Melvin,
and he loves treats with the same level of intensity.
Oh, this guy wants his food.
Okay, you want to finish off with more treats?
Hey, where are you going?
Just bit my hand.
He's a savage.
I had the absolute best time working with these adorable fluff balls today,
and I'm very grateful that this is somehow in my job description.
