Nigel Farage ripped into France's £1billion failure as he vowed to end illegal crossings "within a fortnight" of becoming Prime Minister.

Setting out the party's ambitious "Operation Fortress", Mr Farage and Zia Yusuf unveiled plans to deploy the Royal Navy into the English Channel to stop migrant boats and return them to France or Belgium.

Since Andy Burnham became Prime Minister a fortnight ago, Labour has watched more than 2,000 migrants illegally cross Britain's borders - despite spending £1billion on a French deal in a bid to crack down on people smuggling gangs.
