I spent 48 hours exploring rural China and discovering a side of the country most tourists never see 🇨🇳

I was invited to visit Xinyi, Maoming in Guangdong, a small city in southern China, where I experienced local culture, tried dragon boat racing, explored modern sports facilities, and watched traditional Chinese performances including opera and lion dance.

One thing that surprised me was seeing how much this smaller city is developing. Alongside its traditional culture and history, Xinyi has invested in modern infrastructure, including impressive sports facilities and stadiums, showing how cities beyond China's major hubs are continuing to grow.

During this China travel experience, I got to see a different side of life outside the big cities, from local traditions and community events to the development shaping the future of smaller Chinese cities.

Of course, the most unforgettable (and challenging 😅) moment was trying dragon boat racing in the Guangdong summer heat... let's just say it didn't go exactly as planned.
