Beethoven's piano sonatas capture the composer at very different moments of his creative life. This program moves from the intimate Sonata No. 13, Op. 27 No. 1 "Quasi una fantasia" to the powerful "Appassionata," Op. 57, passing through the elegant Op. 14 sonatas and the deceptively simple Op. 49, each one offering its own mood, character, and emotional depth.
Pianist Vadim Chaimovich's new album brings together Sonatas No. 13, 19, 20, and 23, marking his conscious return to Beethoven's music after years of distance. He approaches this repertoire now with maturity, experience, and a renewed sense of connection, letting the recording mirror the same inner progression found in these sonatas, moving from exploration and freedom toward clarity and concentrated intensity.

Vadim Chaimovich was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. His winning the First Prize at the «Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte» International Competition (Czech Republic) in 1991 was followed by more awards at international competitions in Lithuania, Poland, Russia and the USA. In 2003, Vadim Chaimovich’s outstanding artistry was distinguished with the Promotion Prize of the Dresden Art and Culture Foundation.
The pianist has given numerous concerts in several European countries, Japan and the USA, among others at the Musikverein (Vienna) and Carnegie Hall (New York) as well as at international music festivals. He collaborated with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, and the North Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827) is one of the most influential composers in history—an artist who turned music into a bold, personal voice. Bridging the Classical and Romantic eras, he expanded the symphony, the sonata, and the string quartet with unforgettable melodies, dramatic contrasts, and a sense of emotional storytelling that still feels powerful today.
Even as he gradually lost his hearing, Beethoven kept composing, creating works that range from intimate and tender to thunderous and triumphant. From the Fifth Symphony and Moonlight Sonata to the Ninth Symphony and its “Ode to Joy,” his music captures resilience, intensity, and deep humanity in every note.
