CPAC 2020 - Socialism & The Great Awokening
Is it a good thing to be a proud American? The left doesn’t think so. American history is being warped and mischaracterized, and former heroes of the republic are recast as villains, reduced to their worst vices and mistakes. Worse, perspectives like those showcased in the New York Times’ 1619 Project teach that the very foundations of our country are irreparably broken, threatening to sever the “mystic chords of memory” that Abraham Lincoln said bound together the diverse peoples of this country.
Civic knowledge is in full collapse, and increasing percentages of young people say that they prefer socialism to capitalism. In order to get to get the American people to buy into socialism and wokeism – to “fundamentally transform” the country – the left has to destroy the notion that there was ever anything great about America by lying about her past.
ACU’s Ian Walters hosts a series of discussions on the importance of remembering America’s great past in order to ensure her great future. Jarrett Stepman (author, The War on History: The Conspiracy to Rewrite America’s Past) shoots down leftist lies about our history. Jon Miller (The Blaze) and Brandon Straka (#Walkaway Campaign) dissect the false and damaging narrative of victimhood. And Joshua Philipp (Epoch Times) and Morgan Zegers (Young Americans Against Socialism) explain why erasing our past is leading to a dangerous socialist future.
