Hi it's Sam with Margaret Valley Landscaping and we're back with another how-to video
and today's topic is roses. Roses are not as intimidating as most people think and today
I'm going to give you a few tips on how to grow the most beautiful roses that are going to be
nice and bushy and give you flowers all season long. So deadheading roses to get more flowers
is super simple. All you want to do is find a five petaled leaf, take some really sharp pruners,
cut it diagonally off just like this. You don't want to cut it off where there's too much stem
left because all this is going to do is promote more energy going into this empty stalk than it
is to the next set of flowers. I want to try and train this plant to grow stronger thicker stems
instead of these long dangly ones. So I'm actually just going to cut it right back and let it pop up
so that when the new buds come be a lot thicker to be able to support the next batch of flowers.
Don't be afraid to cut because these things grow like crazy and the more you cut the more you're
rose bush to grow bigger better and stronger. So even though this is nice and strong and sturdy
once these flower buds start to open up this branch is going to get really really heavy
like these ones down here. So another method that we do is thinning the flowers. So yes it's
terrifying and sad but to be honest do it because it's going to be a lot stronger and healthier. So
what we like to do there's new flower buds here here and here we are going to take off this entire
chunk. Once you are finished pruning all your flowers don't forget to make yourself or your
client a beautiful bouquet for inside her house. So now that you know to prune above a five-petaled
leaf thin your flowers and train them for stronger support you're never going to be scared to grow
roses again. Thank you so much for following be sure to like subscribe and save this video
