This time, I traveled from Shanghai to Zhouzhuang, known as "China's No. 1 Water Town."I was initially looking forward to seeing a more authentic Jiangnan water town landscape, but after walking around, I found it somewhat different from my expectations.
While the ancient town still possesses the beauty of its small bridges and flowing water, the level of commercialization, the number of tourists, and the overall atmosphere made me feel it didn't live up to its reputation. Transportation:
🚇Take the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed ​​Railway or Shanghai-Nanjing Railway to Kunshan South Station. Take bus 133 to Zhouzhuang Bus Station, then transfer to bus 261 to Xinpailou. Walk to Zhouzhuang Ancient Town.
🚗From Shanghai, it's about a 1.5-hour drive. Take the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway, or Suzhou-Jiaxing-Hangzhou Expressway, and exit at Zhouzhuang. You can quickly reach Zhouzhuang Ancient Town from there.
