This park up looked perfect… until we tried to leave 🇪🇸🚐

Hey hey hey, welcome back to the channel as they say. Right, we're on another road trip and this time we're in Almeria province and we just finished in Cabo Del Gato last night. That was a great stopover wasn't it? It was, great one. Yeah, really great fun and we're heading today down towards Nueva Almeria, aren't we? Nueva Almeria, yes that's right. We've seen a lovely free park up for tonight, well we think it's nice anyway. Looks okay, looks like quite a few places around there but right now we're heading off to our very favourite restaurant that we found so far in Spain. Well they do this really good menu del dia and it's in a little town called, is it called Retamar? Retamar. Retamar and it's right on the way anyway from where we've just finished. So we thought right, it's gone two o'clock, we're ravenous. So and also we need to do the van from Gary because it is that time. Are we ready? Because we're dropping like a piggy on speed. We're dropping, dropping, dropping, dropping, eating way more than we need. So if you don't know what the van is all about, you better check out a few of the other ones before. It's basically, we're singing this to ourselves because we're quite greedy as soon as we get in the van. That's about it. Anyway we'll see you down at the restaurant and we'll show you what they bring out. It's a really lovely mountainous region and then it's sort of flat in the centre but you were saying you'd read something the other day that explained why they grow so much here. Yes they grow so much because with that mountain range blocking off the mainland Spain plains. Yeah. And then the Mediterranean on the other side, this whole valley is its own eco-climate which is why this valley is probably, stays hotter longer in Spain than anywhere else. Wow. And obviously Almeria has the only European desert. Oh okay yeah. So we're just coming up to our favourite restaurant and we will drop the what three words in here and it's actually a barbecue restaurant but they do a fantastic menu of the day. It's a bit of a mare to park so we're going to go all the way around and then kind of park up. It's got a little Minnie Mouse thing going on there, look, kids thing. Oh crikey, it looks busy doesn't it love? Yeah. Okay. I mean look at this as you walk in, isn't it gorgeous? We love it and it smells of barbecue like roasting meats. I mean it's not a vegan stream but it's ours. Vegan's nightmare. It's lovely isn't it? You can hear birds singing and everything. Look at this. I don't like an aviary do I? I'm always moaning about them. Oh they're cute but oh there's a little aviary here. Gosh they've got some beautiful birds there. Look at this. This is stunning. Everywhere you look is just magnificent. Oh Gary I love it in here. We've only been here once. We're carrying on as if we're like experts. Look at this. I mean there's just so much thought gone into the deco and honestly it doesn't get any less beautiful when you walk in. This is it. This is stunning. Isn't it gorgeous? Okay we're in but make sure that you ask for the menu del dia if you come here because they will automatically give you their a la carte. Okay here's the menu and you've got three courses and a dessert all for 15 euros which is not bad and it does include a drink a cerveza ie a beer San Miguel and a wine. So you can have a glass of wine and a beer. Not bad. We're just going to translate some of it. Some of it we know. Oh so they brought the salad out so this just comes with the menu. Look at that. It looks absolutely phenomenal and a little bread basket which also looks great. We're getting another glass each. Proper hungry now. Try not to scoff it down too quickly. Like refraining myself from singing the banjo Gary. Well mind out this is the lentils. It looks actually really amazing. I think I might need a spoon. So Gary has got the Chinese noodles as starters. He didn't order that but you know I'm not being money Gary but I'd take that. I thought I'd send it back. I don't know when mine's going to come. As it turns out Gary did order that but we didn't realise you ordered it did you? Anyway it looks really good and it tastes amazing is. So I would have took it all day long anyway. My lentils are good. Very nice. Fits the sausage in it as well but yours is amazing isn't it? Very tasty. I opt for the pork dish which was delicious. This is Gary's. He's got the beef with potatoes. Beef and mushrooms with potatoes or whatever the equivalent in Spain is. Oh that was bloody lovely wasn't it? I'm starved. We haven't even got to the dessert yet Gary. I think we're gonna go for a house. We'll have the house cake and the Capricorn Leche. We'll be paying extra for the Capricorn Leche but you know hey 15 euros for a three course meal you can't complain can you? Okay here's dessert. Here's a little house cake. Okay amazing the bill is 45 euros and five cents. So that is a bargain. Proper winner winner what a dinner. I do only have one complaint. My beef and mushrooms. There was only one mushroom so they were playing fast and loose with the S on that menu. To be fair though Gary. It was delicious though. I can't put anything else in. Stuffed. I mean it was amazing wasn't it? It was great. 45 euro. I mean for what we ate which was absolutely first class it was a great that was a great meal wasn't it? Absolutely. Okay not sure what's going on with the weather here but wow these clouds are looking a bit ominous Well we're just coming up to the airport and as you can see there's some red lights just there for the runway but look at this. This is stunning. We've got the nice little back road here. Probably stop at some of these like roadside park ups but you wouldn't really be able to walk very far and it might be a little noisy by this main road as well but doesn't seem to be any restrictions. There's a big car park by the side of the road. We did see a motorhome there. So there's lots of little areas that you can probably find. Park your motorhome. As long as you clear up after yourself they don't mind. So we just joined the coastal road now and it's about 4.6 kilometers to the destination but this is absolutely stunning down here. You can park there to be honest. It's right on the road. It's got a bin. No problem. It's not too busy a road. People are in there babe. It's a good location for taking a bit of a walk but I don't know if it's a bit too full love. Let's have a little mooch. Let's see. There's tons of vehicles. I mean sometimes I don't like it when people are right on top of you. He's got like a full space. He's on his chocks. Let's see if there's anything up the front. You never know. Sometimes people have moved on you see just at the right time. Gosh he looks like he might have been born here. Crikey. I mean it's a good park up but it is full. Blimey he's got his ramps up hasn't he? All German. Okay I don't know about this love. Do you? It doesn't look like a lot of space. That's what I'm thinking. Was the one the other like a bit further back, was that worse than this? Oh way worse yeah. Is there? Further along? Yeah. Okay well maybe we'll, should we just push on a little? Yeah. It's getting, what time is it now? It's getting on a bit. What and have a regroup? You can only turn one way out love. Maybe go out and turn and then turn around up there. We'll park up there and we'll have a quick look. So as you come out of that park up there's another load of motorhomes parked in this car park. Do you want to have a quick moot in there? It looks a bit, looks a bit ropey doesn't it? Oh no it's a no entry there. No entry. Okay. Okay I think there's, I think there's some a little bit further down towards where I want to see those sculptures that I quite fancy. This is the walkway, I mean check out this walkway, it's amazing. That's what we fancy doing. Okay there's a few there. That's not a turn, should we go up a little bit and maybe turn around? There is some space there, you'll get in but you won't, you know don't guarantee a sea view for yourself but you'll get in. So you'll go down this street and there's a roundabout you'll come across. Here's your marker, look at that, look at that, that's beautiful isn't it Gary? Another interesting roundabout, check that out, it's lovely. Now I think there is some more parking, all right you can see some vans on the left hand side there Gary? Yeah. I don't know if we're too big but well. Okay oh look that looks nice. Oh yeah. Right I don't know if there's a size limit. I like that, that is a nice spot. There is space, let's go and have a look in there. Yeah that looks good. So we're in the car park, we've just seen a guy that was literally just pulled out from the other one in front of us so he's just got a space just down there, good on him. I don't know if you can get in the front here but you're going to be hanging out too much aren't you? Unless you can pull right in, can you pull right in? What about like, oh no it's got a bumper. Like see this guy's reversed in, he's smaller than us though to be honest, quite a bit smaller. This is a lovely spot, I think this might be a bit, we might be a bit big. These are like, this is brilliant, if you've got a camper van, I'd get yourself down here, this is really nice. No you're too big for this love I think. Well you can go around and then see if you can get in. Check this out, we've absolutely just about fitted into our spot. How nice is that? That's all right isn't it? You've done really well getting in there actually, you could even fit a van here but I'm not sure anyone will park here but that is right on the waterfront as well. That's lovely isn't it? Great view right by the boardwalk, this is absolutely perfect and the sun's starting to go down. I think we're going to take a stroll in a minute, we want to stretch our legs but yeah this is great. So here it is from the front, the sea's behind me, you've got lots of shops, there's a few motorhomes as well I don't know if there's any restrictions on timings or something Gary but this looks good. Oh it's a cycle path here and then you've got this fantastic walkway that just goes on for miles and miles. Oh it's close to the statues I want to see, that's even better. Well we're not level so we're going to have to go on the trucks we think. Although it's not strictly camping behaviour, you know as long as you don't get your tables and chairs out that's when they do get fed up. So just make sure you're almost just parking. Trucks, that's one sort of thing you can get away with but not getting your tables, chairs, barbecues, you know what I mean. We've just come for a lovely stroll haven't we Gary and we cannot believe how fantastic this promenade is. It's absolutely stacked with restaurants. I mean just over from where we're sitting there's a little kebab and Indian shop, there's like an Indian restaurant down there, it's very popular for the Indian restaurants. Loads of tapas bars, it's just amazing and it just goes on for miles. Just in the distance, probably only about a kilometre from where we are is Almeria city centre. So if you do watch our channel you'll know that I'm a massive fan of big sculptures and this is brilliant. This is the acrobat. Gary do you want to go and stand next to it? Um stand next to it? Well just to show kind of like how big it is. I mean you can do the posture if you want. I would do and it'd be easy because I've not got such big hands. It's great isn't it? So we've just seen this counter because this is a cycle path and it seems to count how many bikes have gone past since it was operating. Did that go up or not? No. No it won't go up with the scooter. Okay let me cross over. Right so a bike is coming. Let's see if it changes. Five, eight, nine. Will it change? Yes it did change. Isn't that incredible? Gosh we're pretty gobsmacked that it knows the difference between a bike and a scooter aren't we love? That's amazing. This is what I really wanted to come and see. Look how brilliant this sculpture is. Oh this looks amazing. He's just reading a book, chilling. That is a great sculpture. I love this. We're just going to stop and have a little glass of wine and a beer right at the end of this little restaurant and they're so good because I'm a bit light sensitive so if it has really fluorescent lights on I start to get a migraine and they've switched the lights off so we can enjoy a glass of wine and a beer in the sunset. I'll show you the view it's incredible. That's the view from the table. It's pretty amazing isn't it? This is why we just absolutely love motor homing. You get to come down and see such glorious sunsets. Right so we're back in the van and we had a really lovely walk out there and we didn't really want any dinner or anything tonight because we did have a massive lunch as you saw. But we're gonna we're gonna have a little bite now won't we Gary? It's just gone nine o'clock at night and I've got these little croquetas that I bought in Aldi the other day. They look really fancy and they were €3.79 so not a fancy price but they look pretty nice. I'm just going to shove them on a little tray, bung them in the oven and yeah Bob's your uncle. A little bit of sapet Gary? Can I tempt you? Sounds great. But I'll tell you what I have noticed. My god the noise off this road I think we might have picked a duff Gary. It's really noisy on this road. I mean I knew it might be a little bit noisy. They smell quite nice. I knew it might be a bit noisy but crikey the traffic is crazy. Have a little listen. I was going to go quiet as soon as I say that isn't it? So there's the road just outside the van. You can see it's quite a busy road. We're hoping it'll quieten down. I'm sure it will but obviously it's Friday night so we might have a really noisy night. I don't know. Oh my life they've gone a bit squashed. I'm sure they'll taste all right. Little mushroom croquettes as they are. I've also put some of those Aunt Bessie's potatoes in the oven. Now I don't normally buy them but I had some in my freezer and I've just bunged them in. I'm cutting them in half and we're going to have them like a patatas bravas. So it's a bit like our tapas last night really. Actually they were quite nice those croquettes weren't they? I'll tell you something they were pretty fantastic. They didn't look much but they tasted good although they were boiling. It was like the surface of the sun. I've proper burnt the roof of my mouth. It's right annoying but I couldn't slow down. But yeah so I've got my patatas bravas, pretendatas bravas because they're a pretend ones. I'll sort them out. I'll show you what they look like in a minute and we're having quite a nice little time aren't we? It's lovely isn't it? We've opened a little bottle of vino. As you can see our view is the promenade. Fantastic. Check out these bad boys, my patatas bravas. I've got mine with ketchup. I've done Gary's with brown sauce because he doesn't like ketchup and we're going to sit and enjoy these. We'll catch you in the morning. Well we're just sitting having our breakfast which was pretty nice, a nice little view but I think we've made a ricket because we've not really moved ourselves quick enough have we Gary? Okay it was really noisy last night but we did sleep and then we've just realised somebody has parked right next to us. I'll tell you what he's not keeping his front seat clean. Anyway he's parked he's parked right next to us and we're not sure if we're going to be able to get out and the toilet light's on red isn't it? So we're like oh god. Worst case scenario we've got to stay stay put. We'll come off the ramps, we'll wait, we'll go and do a bit of shopping, we'll go to the bank or whatever we need to do. We don't want to be hanging around here all day though. We might not have a choice. It's not a case of we don't want to if we can't get out because he's so close because he's parked on a diagonal and his nose is in my turning area. Yeah babe it's the sort of person like I bet he's going to be like surfing or something all day. Well not surfing but you know I mean it's exaggerating but he might be doing something all day at the beach mightn't he? It's got a right nice view you can just watch the promenade it's really really like a lovely location but it is noisy in it. What do you think of the sleep last night? The sleep wasn't bad once you got to sleep but getting to sleep was oof. Yeah it was about one o'clock we went to bed in the end wasn't it and it was just as well just before we hit the pillow well there was loads of sirens wasn't there? Loads of sirens, loads of noisy two-stroke motorbikes. Yeah they were annoying, they were annoying and and then I woke in in the night for a loo and I couldn't get back to sleep straight away because it was a bit noisy but I'll be honest it wasn't the worst sleep I've had. Oh which is just as well because we might be spending another night here. Oh god don't say that if we could be in for the weekend it's a bloody bank holiday isn't it? Oh do you reckon we're screwed let me come out. I just I've got my nightdress on I've just put the top over it I said to Gary do you think it looks like I've got a nightdress on he said yes it's greens of nightdress. Okay look how close we are to that lovely fountain that was lit up last night. Right let's let's have a little look. This tree the problem you reckon? Because I could go that way and then come here but because the trees there that's out of the question. Babe I think we need to move out. No I don't want to be here for the day why are we here for the day? That's what I'm saying yeah I don't want to get that sun. Yeah no I think we've got to come out of here because look this guy yeah this guy is parked here look and they're all going to park along here which means we're not going to get out. Oh crikey I've got my nightdress on still. We need to put all the dishes away love. Oh you can do that while I come off the ramps. Okay oh god it would be a day that I've been a bit lazy we didn't wash up the things from last night either. Kettle's hot. Oh crikey that guy's just moved off stroke of luck. Great come back yeah I've sort of straightened things up. Gary's going to try and pull out now while we've got the opportunity. I'm going to be on traffic patrol now making sure nobody tries to park or stop while he takes the opportunity to get out. This is the thing with parking in places like this you're better off being up and about early it's about 10 o'clock it's too late it's too late to be mucking about. You've got loads of room there love. Oh gosh that's much better. See that's where you needed that swing room where that guy was parked we didn't have that. Oh my god what a relief. Right we're going to park up somewhere because we kind of need to get ready and everything. I don't know what's wrong with us we're normally so organised. He's just going to pull up like this and I'm probably just going to jump in and we're probably going to have to hoof it now down to our next destination. All right here we go. Are you just parking? Oh I think he's just going to park on the side way. Go forward yeah I was going to say don't let any space or gap. That'll do they won't get in there. Right we're doing this and quickly then getting ready. Oh god well done. Right I think whilst we get ourselves sorted we just park here. Oh well I was just thinking that yeah should we just get quickly organised. All right love. We've just been rushing around just got myself ready popped a bit of makeup on Gary's doing his um shaving got hair in my mouth um and now we need to try and get out the car park don't we. Luckily we've got no loose items here anymore we've done all the washing up and we now need to go and find somewhere to empty the toilets and stuff. But I've just noticed over the road there's a really great bin selection so you see where we're parked they've got all the different types of recycling bins. So if you've got glass bottles and that you can get rid of them there. Okay the guy in front of us has just pulled out so I'm always a little bit cautious someone might come and park. So we're just going to try and pull out and get out of this car park now. Okay right as you can see there's a few parked here. I think our advice is if you're over six meters maybe give this spot a miss. I mean he's parked in there lovely and he'll get out nice. Oh gosh it's chocker now isn't it. Hopefully there's enough swing room to get out love. This is right stressor isn't it. Oh he's turning that way that that blue one. Hang on is it only one way? Oh you're going up that way then. Oh you'll have to turn around the roundabout. Okay so go we're heading up towards Roquettes de Mars. So Almeria is up that way and if you haven't seen our Almeria video we've been up there before it's a brilliant car park that you pay to go into. We show you that and the city centre. We love Almeria itself don't we. Yeah it's great. Okay so yeah you'll go down to this gorgeous fountain here. That gives me an opportunity to show you guys this great fountain and then we're going to turn around and head up towards the Roquettes de Mars. Let's have a look at this fountain. It's a mermaid and like I say the look how lovely the day is today it's got to be in the 20s isn't it. It's 22 today. It's 22 is it. Oh look at this this is magnificent and it was lit up all red and all pink last night. They call it the siren. Look at her she's gorgeous isn't she. I love the way they do these roundabouts I mean they're magnificent look at that. She's quite a nude one though Gary to be honest. Oh my life what a relief. That was a nightmare wasn't it. It was a bit. Oh so glad to get out of there. Right we're on the way now and we're heading down to Roquettes de Mer. Roquettes de Mar isn't it. I keep calling it Roquettes de Mer as if we're in ooh la la land. Right we're not in France we're in Spain and we're heading down to Roquettes de Mar and we're going to camping camping Roquettes aren't we. Only to see if we can use their facilities for emptying. Apparently that's a massive campsite but I think Roquettes is a bit of a mixed bag. I've seen some really strange reviews about it which I'll go into in the next vlog.
