Backpacking One of the BEST Hiking Trails in BC (How to Hike + Camp Garibaldi Lake & Panorama Ridge)

Good morning guys. Today we are in the beautiful Garibaldi Provincial Park. We're going to be hiking to Garibaldi Lake and Panorama Ridge today. It's going to be a monster hike. We've only done this trail once before and we did the whole 30 kilometers in one go, so we're really excited to break it up and get a chance to stay at Garibaldi Lake. This is one of the most beautiful backpacking trails in British Columbia and we can't wait to take you along. So the first bit of this trail is about nine kilometers up to the lake. That's where we'll pitch our tent and set up camp, but the first nine kilometers is pretty much all uphill. 900 meters of elevation, so we're getting there. We're working. All right, taking a little break. That was a slog to get up here, but now it's the home stretch to the lake. Just having some of these lorabars, a lemon. So, so good. Okay, that was a nice little break. We have about three kilometers left to get to Garibaldi Lake. We chose this campsite because it's honestly the most beautiful. It is not the closest to Panorama Ridge. I think it's actually going to be a little bit harder for us to get up there for sunset, but that's okay. This is going to be worth it. Anyways, Garibaldi Lake Campground has about 50 sites. We're going to be right on the water. It's going to be gorgeous. There's two other campgrounds that you can choose from. Taylor Meadows, which is honestly pretty beautiful and about midway to Panorama Ridge, and then Helm Creek, which is the closest to Panorama Ridge. It's going to be really nice to get to camp, set up camp, and just hang out, eat some more food, and we'll have a couple hours to hang out by the lake and set up camp till we start our hike up. So we'll see you at the campground. We made it, but I have to climb up with all our gear. Can you hear me still? We got our tent set up for the night. All the spots here are kind of just in the forest. There's a couple nice ones with lake views, but this is pretty much what you get for all of them. It's been really nice to sit down for a second, and we're going to go down to the lake and eat some food, and then we'll head out to Panorama Ridge. Keep going. We have chicken salad sandwich, trail mix, and dried mangoes. Really nice view. Well guys, welcome to Garivaldi Lake. That's where we're going to be going, just up to those two peaks up there, Panorama Ridge. It is getting close to sunset, 5 30, and we are heading up. Can't wait to take you guys with us. Sunset looks like it's going to be insane. We are literally walking through my favorite part of this trail. This is Taylor Meadows, and it's actually in full bloom right now. It's stunning. I think we're literally here at the perfect time. I love this trail. I love the boardwalk. I love the mountains. It's beautiful. Crazy mountains in behind. Yeah, in literally every direction. The hike's about to get really insane. Well, we've been going up this sleep pile for a while, but... We just saw quite the sunset up at Panorama Ridge. That's honestly one of the best views, if not the best view in BC, and we've never got a sunset up here before, so that was crazy. We have a huge hike back in the dark, so you know what? We're just gonna make it back to our tent as quickly as possible because we are exhausted. Anyway, check out this view. It's only really nice over here. It's not even nice by the lake, so that's the view walking back down. Well guys, we made it back, and we are at the shelter. We just had some noodles, and it's about 11 o'clock at night. We just washed our face, had our last dinner, and brushed our teeth, and it's time for bed. So we'll see you guys in the morning. Unreal. What a perfect morning to be just chilling at camp. It is a beautiful morning at Garibaldi Lake. It rained a bit this morning. It didn't start very beautiful. We got woken up at 4am by the rain, and then it continued on for a couple hours. So we're just having our coffee on the dock, and we're gonna make some breakfast, and just kind of chill out here for a while. Last night I was going to bed, and I'm like, okay, why would anybody camp at Garibaldi Lake? It's farther, it's more elevation, it's not easy to do panorama ridge in one day. You may as well literally just do it in one day and get back to the parking lot, but this is why. This is why everyone camps here. This is why this spot is so so special. I don't know, I had a perfect sleep, and now that the sun is out, I can seriously say this is paradise on earth. Like, hello? I love it here. I love this campground. I love my hun. I love camping with you. For breakfast we have oatmeal, peanut butter, and dehydrated banana chips. Kind of a good one we started last year at Berg Lake. Anyways, this is breakfast. Two packs of oatmeal as well. Hits the spot. The prettiest morning ever. We had the best little breakfast and coffee by the water. So we probably have to leave by nine, but maybe we should go for a little swim. So one of the coolest parts about Garibaldi Lake campground is all the amenities that you have. Outhouses, and then as you come down towards the lake, there's a lot of these shelters you can cook inside of. There's a sink, so that's really nice. And then over here, this is where you store your food. The bear hangs. So really nice campground. These shelters, there's four of them, so they're scattered across the whole lake up and down the shore. So there's a lot of cool stuff about this campground, and that easily makes it one of the best backcountry hikes near Vancouver. Got in a final swim before we go, but now it's time to go. Garibaldi Lake, so beautiful. Time to go. Okay guys, we just made it down.
