What It's Like Having A Cheetah As A Friend - Big Cat Shows Love W- Hugs Kisses Purrs - 3rd Reunion

Hey, buddy! Oh, Gabriel, hello! This is my third reunion with Gabriel after six months apart. Amazingly, it was like I had left yesterday. I spent the next three weeks reacquainting with Gabriel before giving him a special treat. It's something I know he loves doing, but I had to be sure I could trust him first. The following are clips of our reacquaintance before giving Gabriel his special treat. Cheetah Experience is a breeding center for endangered African cats. Gabriel here will become a valued member of that gene pool. He's about five months short of full maturity in these clips. Cheetahs mature at three years old. Bonds between humans and cheetahs can occur when hand raised, as is the case between Gabriel and I. Gabriel has to sit oh so close. Having friendships with captive breeding cheetahs immensely helps in their care. With a tamed animal, medical examinations and procedures can be done without the need of dangerous sedation. With the use of positive reinforcement, you can examine a wild animal's paws, claws, skin, ears, mouth, and even draw blood. And having a relationship with a cheetah like Gabriel is immensely rewarding. We had a good time together, didn't we? Gabriel has been an affectionate cat since he was a cub. Holding you close and grooming you is his favorite thing to do. After rebonding with Gabriel, I allowed him to groom me while laying on my back. That was my special gift to Gabriel and how he prefers to greet me. I grew a goatee to protect myself from his sharp tongue, but it hurt everywhere else. I spend nights with Gabriel about like this. Long ago, when he was a cub, this is what he'd do. Of course, most cheetahs do this when you lay down with them. It's a very submissive posture. It's non-threatening. It's like you submit to them and it's like they appreciate it. This is one of my final goodbyes here. I've got two more days and I've got to say goodbye to Gabriel. It's going to be a while before I see him again. Listen to his purr. Gabe and I got back way back, two years ago. Gabriel was the very first cheetah I ever met. The first one to ever become my friend. And the first one I became friends with. Gabriel's the reason I don't fear cheetahs anymore. Hi, buddy. I think Gabriel, he absolutely enjoys the company. Male cheetahs form coalitions in the wild. Basically brothers or other male cheetahs. I think Gabriel sees me as one of his coalition buddies. Hi, Gabriel. What's that noise, buddy? What's that noise? That hurts. That hurts, buddy. That hurts. I can't take any more, buddy. I'm going to scrape my face off. That's all, buddy. You're a good boy, Gabriel. You're a good boy. This is what he used to do. He loves to lay on you. Lay on you and love you. That's Gabriel. Buddy Gabriel. I'm going to miss you, buddy. I'm going to miss you. Are you done, bud? Let's go lay on him. Let me hang out. He gives me his lookout stuff. I can't take any more. Lay on my face, at least. Lay on my face, at least, buddy. This is what's unique about Gabriel. Goodbye, Gabriel. Goodbye, buddy. Bye, Gabriel. See you tomorrow, buddy. Cheetahs like company and attention, but unlike dogs, enjoy solitude. He likes to do the Gabriel hug. The nice thing about Gabriel is that he's always up for a greet. Surprisingly, even when he's not feeling well. Having a cheetah as a friend is an unreal experience. I hope to maintain that friendship our entire lives. That will mean more reunions, but I hope one day I can meet Gabriel every day. I don't know if my face's scalp could survive that.
