What's up YouTube?
This is your favorite drum guy, Mr. Ross from Atlanta Drum Academy.
And today, for the first time ever, and we've never done this before, we're going to spotlight
a student that is not a part of Atlanta Drum Academy.
This is a nine-year-old student that goes by the name of Justin Lee, and he's from Atlanta,
Georgia.
What I'm trying to figure out is, how is he from Atlanta and I don't know him?
How come I already don't have this kid?
You're not doing enough, Mr. Ross.
You're not doing enough.
I'm going to get him though.
I'm going to get him.
We're going to figure out a way to get him out of Atlanta Drum Academy.
But anyway, so this is how I found out about this kid.
So I'm on the internet, just strolling on Facebook, checking my statuses, whatever,
whatever.
And one of my friends that, one of my friends tagged me, and I go look at this video, and
I'm looking at this kid.
And he's well-spoken, too.
Listen to him.
Hello, my name's Justin.
I'm nine years old.
I'm from Atlanta, Georgia, and I'm going to be working on some rudiments and a cadence
that I just learned that my dad taught me.
Thank you and enjoy.
He speaks better than me.
Y'all don't know how many times I have to do these tapes to get this right.
Even what I just said didn't sound right.
But anyway, so I'm watching this kid.
Paradiddles?
Okay.
Double paradiddles.
Paradiddles?
With an accent on the diddle?
This kid is only nine years old.
Not 19.
Nine.
And he has a good sound quality.
And what I like most about it, he didn't do not one, he didn't do one stick trick.
And that's what a lot of our kids get confused with.
They think stick tricks is the thing to go.
But if you can't do a snare lick, there's no need to do a stick trick.
This kid didn't do any of that.
And this kid has already been trained right by his dad or whoever's teaching him.
And I think his dad marched at Tennessee State University, if I'm not mistaken.
I think that's what he told me.
I could be wrong, but I hope I'm right.
Salute.
Justin Lee, nine years old.
We hope to meet you one day, my friend.
We got practice tonight at 730.
I told your dad earlier.
Peace.
