A few days ago, I came back to my old house for a short visit. I had no idea that this trip would begin with an unexpected phone call.

The people who adopted one of my kittens two years ago contacted me and asked for help. They urgently needed to leave Ukraine with their family. Their cat had recently given birth and was still nursing her baby. They could take the mother cat with them, but the tiny kitten was too young to travel and could not cross the border without the required vaccinations.

The kitten wasn't eating on his own yet, and they had no one else they could turn to.

Of course, I agreed to help.

My father went to pick up the kitten while I prepared for the possibility of bottle-feeding. But when I finally saw him, I realized he was around three weeks old. Instead of changing his milk and starting bottle feeds, I decided to try teaching him to eat on his own.

Then came the part I was most curious about...

Bringing a new kitten into a home full of animals is always unpredictable.

First, he met Matilda the cat.

Then he met my dog, Alice.
