I've been a professional makeup artist for 18 years and in those 18 years I have collected
a series of tips, tricks, and layering techniques in order to keep your makeup on your face
and keep it from sliding off and melting off.
So whether you're a sweater or it's hot and humid, I got you covered in this video.
Now I partnered with Sephora and before you get melt-proof makeup, make sure you become
a Beauty and Style member.
It's free and quick and easy to join.
As always, I'll have an easy little link down below.
Click it, join today, start earning a point on every dollar you spend both in-store, online,
or at Sephora at Kohl's.
So whether you're shopping for melt-proof makeup online, there's buy online, pick up
in-store, as well as same-day delivery options available.
So let's get into the meat and potatoes of this video because you're going to want to
sit down and grab a pen and paper and take notes and also try these techniques out because
I promise you if you try one, three, four, or five of them, it's going to prevent your
makeup from melting and it's going to keep it on all day.
All right, the number one thing we have to start with.
Every good makeup application, whether it's melt-proof, sweat-proof, humidity-proof, whatever
the case is, all makeup needs to start with good skin prep.
And I talk about skin prep on a regular basis.
Skin prep is one of the things I will be shouting from the rooftop for the rest of my life.
Skin prep is so important to how your makeup looks, how it wears throughout the day, and
how it feels on your skin as you're wearing it.
But when it comes to melt-proof makeup and when it comes to preventing your makeup from
sliding down your face, like you're at a water park and you're sliding down, if you don't
want your makeup to slide down that water slide, you need to be a little bit more stingy
with your skincare products.
And this is the only time that I'm going to tell you to do this.
When it's hot, humid, and when you're sweating, the more skincare you have underneath, the
more of a slip and slide effect it's going to have on your makeup.
So when you're prepping your skin, try to keep it pared down, try to minimize it.
So whatever you're doing and whatever's been working for you in the winter, spring, fall,
you're going to want to cut down and you're going to want to downsize that routine and
condense it to be, I'd say two products at the max, honestly, because if we're really
talking truly, truly melt-proof makeup, then this is the time to minimize it the max.
So the minimum amount of products I want you to put on your skin is a hydrating milky toner,
I know, shocking, and then I want you to follow it up with a slightly moisturizing but still
lightweight sunscreen.
So focus on hydration, sun protection.
Those should be the two things you have in your mind when you're prepping your skin for
melt-proof makeup.
Now if you're not new to my channel, you already know that I'm a big milky toner fan.
One of my favorites is this RODE.
This is so good.
Gosh, this is amazing.
I can't even get it back in stock.
This is the one I pulled from my professional makeup kit.
I use this on all my clients.
Now I love this product.
I could drink it and bathe in it.
It's that good.
It's the RODE Glazing Milk Ceramide Facial Essence.
You'll see me apply it in this video.
It's going to be a very milky, watery toner.
This is going to be a first step in your skincare routine.
You need to start with hydration.
I will be saying this for the rest of my life.
Even if you're going for oil control, all day wear, melt-proof, budge-proof makeup,
you still need to hydrate your skin.
You still need to give your skin what it needs, and your skin needs hydration.
Now the reason why I talk about milky toners in general more than any other kind of toner
is because milky toners will kind of knock out two steps at once.
They're not so liquidy and so watery that they just leave your skin feeling like it
needs a serum to kind of lock it into place.
They do two things.
They hydrate while leaving a really lightweight, silky, hydrating feeling on your skin.
So it's not just like a drink of water for your skin and then it sucks it up and then
it's gone.
This will leave a very subtle, very lightweight, moisturizing residue on your skin, which is
going to be perfect for that minimalistic skin prep in order to keep your makeup from
melting.
In addition to loving the RODE one, I can understand this one's very hard to get.
It's always sold out.
I experience this on a regular basis.
I literally went to Sephora last night to try to see if there was one in stock on the
shelves.
There was not.
Not a full size, not a mini.
So I put my tail between my legs and I left again.
But no, there's also another one that is available at Sephora as well.
This is one of my favorites and it's really, really affordable and it is so soothing.
I'd say these are both just absolute holy grail milky toners at this point.
I love these equally.
So I just restocked my Innisfree Green Tea Ceramide Barrier Essence.
This is also going to have all the same talking points, the same benefits as the RODE.
Probably a lot more easy to get your hands on.
So I'll make sure I link both options below for you.
But starting with your milky toner, immediately after that, your skin's going to soak it up
and you could go on to your next step.
Your next step in this minimalistic, melt-proof skin prep journey that we're on for summertime
is choosing the right sunscreen, okay?
Lightweight is going to be best.
Lightweight and high in SPF.
Both these are SPF 50 and both of these are my absolute favorites at Sephora.
These are holy grails at this point.
This is my old school favorite, my Paula's Choice Youth Extending Daily SPF 50 Fluid
Sunscreen.
Now, this one I love because it does offer some moisturization, but it absorbs really
quickly into your skin and it leaves you with a really nice satiny natural finish.
It's not greasy.
It's not dewy.
It's a really great dry down.
So if you have oily skin especially, or if you just want something that's really lightweight
and isn't going to add a lot of shine to your skin when it's hot outside, this is the way
to go.
But my new favorite that I'm almost completely out of is the Tatcha The Milky Sunscreen.
This also is a broad spectrum SPF 50.
This one's pricier.
This one does contain a little bit of fragrance, just an FYI.
But both of these wear so incredibly well under makeup.
It's not even funny.
They're both my absolute favorites at Sephora at the moment.
And if you can try one of them, I know you'll be happy with either one.
But if you don't like fragrance, get the Paula's Choice.
But in the end, these are both going to be slip-proof for under your makeup and it's
not going to cause your makeup to slide off your skin.
Now once you've done your skin prep, it's time to talk about primers.
Now if you're not new to my channel, you already know I'm not the biggest buyer of primers,
but I've always said there's a time and a place for primers.
And it just might not be in your everyday routine and I don't find them necessary in
everyday routines.
But there's a time and a place where primers can be a really great useful tool to use in
addition to your great skin prep and your killer makeup techniques that you're learning
from this channel.
So now let's talk about three primers that I think are outstanding.
Now Danessa Myricks just knows primers.
Like if you're going to shop one brand in particular at Sephora for primers, go to Danessa
Myricks first.
But I will say there's a time and a place for the Milk Hydro Grip Primer.
And the time and the place is when your makeup is melting.
So summer, hot, humid weather, a hot, humid vacation, or if you're just a sweater.
Like if you sweat a lot on your face, I think you can all relate to that.
Then a grippy primer is going to help you a lot and it's going to help aid in keep your
makeup from slipping and sliding.
So the Milk Hydro Grip.
One thing I want to talk about with this primer, when this primer first came out, I think we
all used just too much.
So when you're using this primer, don't pump out three, four pumps.
That is way too much product.
One pump, I promise you, is truly, truly all you need.
Less is more with all primers in general, but I think especially with this one.
When you use too much of this, it can start to get kind of gunky and kind of actually
gummy.
Like there's a gumminess that will happen.
It'll interact with your foundation and especially your powders that you're putting on top in
a not so flattering way and you won't like the feeling of it.
So less is more.
I'll show you the exact amount that you should be using and use it just where you need the
extra grip.
It's going to be different for everyone, but let's say you need that extra grip above your
lip because your makeup is slipping and sliding and it won't stay put.
Let's say you need that extra grip on just your nose because your makeup disappears and
it slides off your nose as you're wearing it and it starts to melt.
Use it where you need the most grip and I cannot stress that enough.
If you don't need the extra grip along your jawline, then don't put it there.
Just trust me.
Less is more.
Use it sparingly and use it just where you need it.
Now the same thing goes with the Danessa Myricks primers.
Use it where you need it and nothing else.
Don't waste it.
Don't overdo it.
I'm telling you, I can't stress this enough.
I should make a t-shirt that says less is more when it comes to primers.
Now this one from Danessa is one of the coolest, most innovative products on the market.
If you have oily skin, this is the one to get.
Now this isn't necessarily going to keep your makeup from melting off your face, but for
oily skin people, makeup melting in the heat in conjunction with your oily skin is just
kind of a nightmare to deal with.
So this is something that's going to really calm down the oil production that you're seeing
throughout the day.
It's going to really minimize it a ton.
So you can use this just in the areas you experience the most maximum oil producing,
right?
So typically speaking, that's the T-zone, but again, that's different for everyone.
I know people that experience tons of oil happening on the top of their chin and they
just need this kind of product for their chin only.
So use it where you produce the most oil.
Another thing I want to call out too is I really don't recommend this product for dry
skin type.
So even if you have dry skin and you're trying to keep your makeup from melting in the summer
or when it's hot outside, don't go out and buy this just because it keeps the oils at
bay.
If you have dry skin, you're not going to really like the feeling of this on your skin.
Just trust me.
But the next primer that I have to show you, you will like.
This one is like a universally friendly, all skin types, all skin ages can wear this, but
especially if you have skin that has more texture or larger pores and you want a pore
smoothing, pore refinement, texture smoothing effect and blurring effect to your skin while
also priming your skin and keeping your makeup from melting in the areas that you apply this,
then this.
Oh my gosh.
This is the one to get.
This is so good.
And there's another learning curve that I want to point out.
It's very similar to the milk hydro grip and that is less is more.
I'm going to show you the exact amount you should be using and you'll be shocked at how
small it is.
Okay.
And then you're going to see too what I want you to do when you're using this product.
I want you to take this product and that small amount and I want you to emulsify.
You want to break this down and emulsify it before you apply it to your skin.
Don't just scoop it out and try to rub in that putty like product.
Break it down first in your fingertip.
I find this gives me the best results with this product and that way it just melts into
your skin really soft, really effortlessly and absorbs better into your skin and it won't
just sit on top.
If you've ever experienced not liking this product, I guarantee you it's because you
didn't break down the product first and or you're probably using too much of it.
So use sparingly like you'll see me do in this video and use it in the areas that you
have larger pores, more skin texture or where your makeup tends to slip and slide and melt
as you're wearing it.
Okay.
Now we're going to touch on foundations and listen, if you're utilizing the tips and the
techniques and the application methods that I'm showing you in this video, you could take
these and you could apply them to any foundation you have at home and you certainly don't need
to buy the ones that I'm about to share with you in this video.
However, I do want to share these three foundations because I find that they're incredible for
longevity and for just sticking to your skin and staying put.
But with that said, again, don't think you need to buy these.
Use all these techniques, even with your skin tint that you have at home.
You can use it with your skin tint.
You can use it with any of your trying to foundations that you love.
Just use these techniques and these application methods to keep that foundation or that skin
tint on and keep it from melting.
But before I apply the foundations, there's one bonus tip that is an old school tip, an
old school technique.
It's been around for ages and ages.
And this is also one that's going to be specifically more geared towards my really oily people
out there.
So dry skin, you might want to just skip to the next portion of this video where I'm applying
the foundation and showing you application techniques and blending techniques because
this tip specifically is really not best suited for dry skin.
So just for warning, if you're oily, keep watching.
If you're oily, grab your loose setting powder.
It should be one that's translucent or at least, you know, 95% translucent and like
barely have any kind of color to it.
These are two of the best loose setting powders if you have oily skin or if you just want
your skin to be locked in and not a slip inside throughout the day.
One is just so old school and it's been reformed that I believe a couple of years ago.
This is the MAC Studio Fix Pro Set and Blur Weightless Loose Setting Powder.
This is like an airbrush filter for your skin that you can use this all over your skin to
lock it in.
It's virtually made of air.
It's virtually weightless.
You will not feel it on your skin, but dry skin, use it sparingly.
Oily skin, you're going to have major benefits from using this powder and you're gonna have
a major decrease in the oil production you're seeing throughout the day.
But for all skin types, if you're using this, it's going to keep your makeup from slipping
and melting.
So it's a really great setting powder, especially in the summertime.
This is when I bring out this powder and I use it the most.
Otherwise it could feel a little bit more tight and a little more drying on your skin,
especially if you use too much.
But the other powder that I find to be one of the best for longevity and really truly
locking your makeup into place so it doesn't move is the Huda Beauty Easy Bake Powders.
These come in a million different shades.
There's something for everyone.
They come in fragrance, non-fragrance, you name it.
There's literally something for everyone with this powder, but this powder is incredible
for just quite literally cementing your makeup down and getting it to not move, not budge,
not move, not slide.
Let's go back to the tip.
Hot tip, and if you've never used this, this is an old, old, old school tip, but take the
tiniest bit of powder.
I'm not talking a huge amount.
I'm not talking a big powder puff filled with powder.
I'm talking a whisper of this powder and you're going to use this in a sandwiching method.
You're going to use this pre-foundation and then post.
Your foundation is going to sit somewhere in the middle like an Oreo cookie.
In between two light layers of powder, sandwich in between like a cookie.
This is truly one of the best techniques to keep your makeup from sliding throughout the
day.
I mean, period.
If you have oily skin, if you sweat a lot, and if you need your makeup to be budge-proof,
take a light layer, press it in the areas that you experience the most movement throughout
the day and the most slippage throughout the day.
Put it there only and nowhere else.
Okay.
Now we can talk about foundation.
Now we can move on to the step.
This step is going to be obviously a very important step.
And again, going back to, it's not so detrimental that you get this formula or these formulas
I'm about to share with you, but use the techniques that I shared to keep any of your foundations
or skin tints on a heck of a lot longer.
But to give you some product recommendations, the new NARS Natural Matte Longer Foundation
is incredible.
If this goes on your skin, chances are it's not going to move.
And especially if you use it with these hot tips I'm giving you in this video, it's especially
not going to melt or go anywhere.
This one's the most full coverage out of the three that I'm about to share with you.
So this is the most full coverage, the most natural finish and most natural coverage and
the most universally friendly for all skin types and all skin ages.
This is the one that I use in my pro kit and I use professionally and it's just, it's just
a hit.
It's never disappointed me, never has, probably never will.
This is the Dior Backstage Face and Body, comes in incredible undertones, incredible
shade range.
It's just a holy grail for me as a makeup artist.
This is also a waterproof foundation.
It's also sweat, humidity and all day wear.
So it checks all the boxes.
It's thin, it's buildable.
You're not going to feel a heaviness on your skin.
You could build up the coverage like I mentioned, or you could wear it thin and sheer it out.
So however you like to wear it, whatever look you're going for, you can really achieve pretty
much anything with the Dior Backstage Face and Body.
This is an absolute goat.
My newest favorite, and this is newly reformulated, is the Forever Matte Foundation from Dior.
I wear the shade 2.5N in most of the Dior foundations, actually all the Dior foundations
I wear 2.5N.
That works the best for my light, medium, neutral, olive complexion.
So you'll see me apply the new Dior in this video and I want you to really focus in on
how I prep the brush and then how I actually apply this to my skin.
You'll notice I'm not swiping back and forth.
I'm not using a buffing motion.
I am being very cautious and very aware of how I press this into my skin to get makeup
to last all day, to get it to be budge-proof, sweat-proof, humidity-proof, and melt-proof,
which is the theme of this video.
You need to be pushing this into your skin and you need to be actually using some good
force, okay?
So put some muscle behind it and you'll see me pat this into my skin and really press
it.
And you'll notice too that my brush is actually bending.
That's how much pressure I'm using.
That's the amount of pressure you want to use to push this into your skin to get it
to stick, adhere, and not slip around throughout the day.
The other thing you'll see me do is apply this to the top of my hand and pre-blend it
and pre-load it into my brush and the bristles of my brush.
You'll never see me pump a bunch of pumps all down my face and then expect it to stay
put and look even and look flawless.
That's just not going to give you the results you're looking for and that's certainly not
going to keep your foundation from melting off your skin.
You need to be pre-blending, packing it into the brush, and then packing it and stippling
and pressing it firmly and tapping it firmly into your skin.
If you do those methods, you'll get any of your foundations to be melt-proof and budge-proof.
Now, typically setting sprays are used at the end of a makeup application, but if you're
trying to get your makeup to be melt-proof, sweat-proof, and budge-proof, then you need
to be incorporating light layers of setting spray throughout your makeup application.
So depending on what your skin can handle, okay, and I mean like for dry skin in particular,
your skin's not going to be able to handle as many layers of waterproof long-wearing
setting sprays.
But with that said, if you have dry skin and your objective isn't to feel like super comfortable
wearing your makeup, but your objective in the end is to have your makeup stay put and
not move, then you could do these tips and these techniques and you can utilize setting
spray layers throughout your makeup and your base product application.
But don't say I didn't warn you.
If you do have dry skin, you're probably not going to love the feeling as much.
But if you do use this technique, I highly encourage you to use the Charlotte Tilbury.
This is going to feel the most lightweight and the most hydrating and the most comfortable
on your skin, all while still melting the layers of product into your skin and kind
of binding them together, right?
This is a way to melt and bind the wet layers and the product layers into your skin, sinking
it into your skin rather than letting it sit on top.
So this one is amazing for incorporating this kind of step into your melt-proof makeup if
you have dry skin.
I have oily skin and I just, I go to town with this.
I use this on a regular basis.
I love this.
This never feels dry on my skin.
But for oily people or people that just like, let's say you're working at 24 hour shift
and you need your makeup to not budge or move or melt off your skin, and you don't have
dry skin, you have normal to normal, leaning, oily, or severely oily skin, then these are
two that you would definitely want to incorporate into this kind of routine and this kind of
step.
This one's old school and trying true.
This one's in my makeup kit.
This is the Makeup Forever Mist and Fix 24 Hour Hydrating Setting Spray.
Now this one, to me, feels a little bit more dry than the Charlotte Tilbury.
However, they're going to do the exact same thing.
Okay?
They're going to melt the makeup.
They're going to bind it.
They're going to settle it into your skin.
But for my really oily people, I highly encourage you to pick up the Danessa Merrick's Yummy
Skin Liquid Blurring Mattifying Setting Spray.
This is the only one that has mattifying in the title.
And listen, if you have like normal skin and you just really want budge-proof and a mattification,
you could definitely use this.
But for my oily skin in particular, using this during the foundation application, not
post, but like during, is going to really help to keep the oils at bay.
But one last thing I want to call out.
Don't let this spook you.
If you have dry skin and you use this just at the end of your makeup application, it's
not going to feel dry on you at all.
I promise you.
But it's going to help to lock your makeup in for all day wear.
Now once you've applied that light layer of setting spray after your foundation's been
applied, I also encourage you to take your foundation brush and just push any areas of
setting spray back into your skin.
Like push it down.
It's going to lock it in.
It's going to cling to your skin and just kind of like go.
So especially if you're using the Danessa Myricks, if you spray it all over, one hot
tip that I actually learned from you guys from Danessa is to take a small brush, either
the N17.
I love to use my N19 and just press it further into your skin, fully locking it down and
locking it into place.
All right.
Melt-proof makeup isn't just talking about your face and your complexion products.
It's also talking about melt-proof eyeshadow.
In order to get a melt-proof eyeshadow look, there's a couple things I want you to take
into consideration.
One of course is using a good eyeshadow primer, a good eyeshadow base.
If you're truly trying to go for a melt-proof eyeshadow, then I would skip in this circumstance
if you can, if your skin will allow it, I would skip prepping your eyelids with concealer
and then going on top with your eyeshadow.
I would for sure go for something that is specifically designed to keep your eyeshadow
in place all day from creasing, smudging, disappearing, or playing a magic act on you.
So some of the primers that I love are the Makeup by Mario.
These are the Master Mattes Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadows.
These are incredible.
I love these.
You already know I'm a huge fan of these.
Great for oily eyelids, great for all day wear.
They dry down quick, so work fast with these, but once they're on, these don't move.
They're incredible.
My other favorite that's actually in my professional kit, so I'll pop them on the screen because
I forgot to pull them out of my kit for this video, the Danessa Myricks Color Fix Mattes.
Those are my holy grail for prepping clients' eyes.
Put that on your eyeshadow, you could probably wear it for a couple of days and it wouldn't
move.
I'm not even kidding you, it will not move.
And the one you'll see me apply in this video is old school.
It's tried and true.
It just gets the job done efficiently and your eyeshadow will not move.
But before I show you how to apply this, there's one tip I want you to never forget when you're
priming your eyes for budge-proof, melt-proof makeup.
You need to be removing that excess oil and also that leftover excess skincare and skin
prep from your eyelids.
That's the quickest way to get your eye makeup to crease, to melt, to move, and all those
bad things we don't want, especially in the summertime.
So just take a tissue, lightly absorb the excess oil, the excess skincare, then you
can move on to the step of actually priming your eyelids.
Bonus step, and this is not going to be for everyone, but if your eyelids can handle it
and if you are someone who wants, again, like the utmost budge-proof eye makeup and melt-proof
eye makeup, take a really small amount of your loose setting powder just to lock in
that MAC paint pot just so we have like the utmost extra insurance so our eyeshadow doesn't
go anywhere.
Okay, now let's talk about eyeliners really quick.
Now, eyeliner is something that you can make, you can make any eyeliner formula wear so
much longer if you just lock into place the right way and if it's going on top of a matte
base like I just showed you how to create with the eyeshadow primer and then setting
into place.
But if you want an eyeliner recommendation that's going to be really long-wearing, that's
available at Sephora, the Makeup Forever, the new ones that just came out, these are
incredible for all-day wear, the Aqua Resist Color Pencils.
You'll see me apply this dark brown in this video.
This is going to be great and long-lasting on its own, but when you want your eyeliner
to be melt-proof, then you need to take a like-minded powder eyeshadow.
You'll see me use the Makeup By Mario in this video to lock it down, to set into place.
Think of it the same way you use a setting powder on top of your wet foundation.
It's the exact same idea and it's going to keep the eyeliner from melting.
So when you're using bronzer and blush, there's two things you could take into consideration.
One is for every cream product that you apply to your skin, you're going to want to lock
it in with a like-minded powder to keep into place, to lock it down, to also intensify
it to keep it from fading and just disappearing on your skin throughout the day, and also
of course to keep it from melting and moving.
So you'll see me apply the Dior bronzer.
This is going to be a beautiful bronzer on its own, but it doesn't have a ton of longevity
unless you really lock it down and prevent it from moving with a like-minded powder bronzer.
Now, if you don't want to do these two steps and you want to keep it more minimalistic,
I highly encourage you to choose formulas that are cream to powder.
The best example of a cream to powder formula that will knock out two different steps and
give you the same longevity that you would get from applying a cream and then a powder
on top is the Hung Van Gogh Tan Sculpt.
This is a bronzing contour balm, but this is a cream to powder formula.
So this goes on creamy.
You can blend it in, you can manipulate it, you can buff it out, but once it dries down,
it dries down to a powdery finish, which is ideal for your makeup not melting.
So it's going to stay put, it's going to adhere to your skin, and it's going to give you longevity,
which is amazing.
Same exact rules going to apply with your blushes.
So if you don't want to do a two-step system, which you'll see right now, I'm going to apply
a liquid blush from Huda Beauty, and I'm going to lock into place with a luminous, really
beautiful, really glowy pink blush.
This is actually a pink highlighter, but I use this as a blush topper, but it's in a
powder form.
So the liquid is going to stain your skin, it's going to blend in, it's going to melt
into your skin, but to lock it in so it doesn't melt and doesn't move, you want to do a powder
on top immediately after.
And again, if you don't want to do those two steps, just like if you don't want to do the
two steps with the bronzer for longevity and to reduce makeup melting, you could go
for, again, a cream-to-powder formula.
The best cream-to-powder blush, in my opinion, at Sephora is the Matte Bouncy Blush from
Rare Beauty.
These are so good, especially if you have oily skin or especially if you just want blush
that doesn't move and melt, but goes on creamy, can blend on super quick and easy, takes minimal
effort, but once it's on, it stays put.
Why?
Because it dries down to a more powdery matte finish.
So it has tons of longevity built in just with this one product.
Okay, concealer.
We've done the blush, we've done the bronzer, we've done the foundation.
Let's talk about concealer and let's talk about concealer tips specifically.
Now, of course, you can make any concealer last longer and I have a secret weapon to
increase the wear time of any concealer, especially a more moisturizing formula.
But if you're trying to choose specifically long-wear melt-proof formulas, I highly recommend
the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer.
That's been a favorite for a while now since it came out.
It's one of my most recommended if you want the utmost budge-proof non-disappearing, non-melting
concealer formulas.
This one's high coverage.
It's pretty easy to work with.
I do find that you need to work kind of quick with this product because it has a quick dry
down time.
So you don't need to let it dry down and self-set.
You need to just go in, blend it out right away.
And once it's dried down, this gives you incredible longevity.
And if you want a full coverage, long-wear concealer to look a little bit more fresh,
a little bit more natural, let's say you don't want it to look really heavy, apply it with
a more fluffy diffusing brush.
You'll see me use this and apply it.
First I'm going to actually apply it to the top of my hand, pre-blend it into a small
diffusing brush.
It's my N20S brush.
So I'm pre-blending the product into the brush.
Then once it hits my under eyes, I've done half the work.
And this also minimizes the amount of thickness the product has, right?
So when you're wanting your makeup to stay put, be budge-proof, be melt-proof, you want
to work in thin layers and you want to build up those thin layers because the more thin
layers you have, the idea is they have time to dry down in between.
So if you're just slapping on a really thick layer of this concealer and you're trying
to get it to be not movable and budge-proof, granted, this form is budge-proof on its own.
But if you're taking this tip with any of the concealers you have at home, I highly
encourage you to work in small, thin layers, allowing it to dry down and pre-blend it into
your brush.
And that way when your brush hits the skin, it's already pre-blended and you're applying
just a thin veil of it, which is going to feel weightless, look really soft, feel really
nice and not heavy under your eyes, and it's going to be melt-proof.
Now if you don't want to get a longer concealer, I want to show you a really great tip to utilize
with any of your other concealers you might have that may be more moisturizing.
For example, one of my other favorites is the Natasha Denona High Glam Concealer.
This one's great for more dry under eyes.
It's a great all-around universally friendly concealer in my opinion, but this one's not
necessarily meant for all-day budge-proof, melt-proof wear.
So if you've never heard of this product, let me tell you about it.
This has been around for a million years.
It's like one of the first products I bought as a professional makeup artist.
Now I go between using this and Inglot's Duraline.
This one's available at Sephora, so I want to mention this one in this video because
it's really easy to pick up and really easy to use.
This is the Makeup Forever Aqua Seal.
This is a transformative fluid, so it's a mixing medium.
You can mix it into anything.
You can mix into concealer, foundation, lipstick, which you'll see me use at the end of this
video.
Mix it into cream bronzer, I mean liquid blush.
There's endless ways and opportunities to use this.
You can turn a powder eyeshadow into an eyeliner.
It's all up to you.
You can do anything you want.
Every dream is possible with this product.
So back to the concealer, you can use a tiny dot, and I mean a tiny dot.
You'll see me use in the video too a really small dot.
Less is more.
Don't overuse a product like this.
The more you use this, it can start to get really funky and it can actually work against
you.
Same with primers, same exact idea.
So don't think that more is more of this.
Less is more.
Use restraint when using this kind of product, but what this does is it takes your product
and it transforms it into a waterproof formula.
So you'll see me mix a tiny bit into my Natasha Denona Concealer, apply it with a brush, and
then call it a day.
This is a great way to keep any of your products from melting off your skin.
So like I mentioned, you can use this also for your lips.
So if you want your lipstick to be melt-proof, first of all, I want you to always use the
technique that I share all the time, which is pre-powdering your lips.
And I don't mean baking a bunch of powder on top of your lips, that's gonna feel horrible
and definitely atrocious.
Don't do that.
Take a really small amount of your loose setting powder.
You'll see me use just a small amount of the Huda Beauty once again on a small brush.
Take that light layer, apply it all around your lip.
Don't focus it inward on your lip, that's gonna feel a little dry, a little crackly.
You're not gonna like that.
But focus it on the lip line and around the lip.
This is where the lip tends to sweat.
So if you're an above-the-lip sweater especially, take the time to powder above your lip and
around your lip line.
That technique in itself is gonna be incredible for longevity and for keeping your lip liner
from moving, feathering, or fading.
So once you've done that, apply a lip liner.
This just happens to be an incredibly budge-proof, long-lasting lip liner.
This is such a great formula.
This is newer from Kolfi.
It's the Lassie Lips Staining Lip Liner.
This will actually stain your lips.
So as you wear it throughout the day, let's say you buy into a massive sandwich and it
takes off all your lip product, you'll still be left with a stained lip line.
So amazing for brides, amazing for photo shoots, all-day wear, all-day events, you name it,
this will be melt-proof because it will also stain your lips.
So even if you rub it off with a tissue, it's gonna be there.
Once I apply the lip liner, you'll see me blend it out just a touch to soften the edges.
Now let's get into how to make a creamy, regular formula lipstick that's not necessarily budge-proof,
waterproof, or melt-proof.
You're gonna turn it into a waterproof powerhouse.
So taking one drop, two at the absolute max, but again, go back to less is more because
the more you apply, it will gunk up your lip products and it will just feel and look funky.
Take a little bit onto your lipstick and you can either apply this on top after you've
applied your lipstick.
You can take a small brush, pat it on top, which you'll see me do as well.
My preferred way to use this product or any of these waterproof mixing mediums is to take
it on a spatula and just combine the two together.
So I do a small amount on my lipstick, which in this case is the new Marc Jacobs Lipstick
in Love Muscle.
I love this nude lipstick so much.
So I'm taking a little bit on my spatula, use it on the top of my hand, mixing it with
a brush, and then applying it with a brush to my lips.
That's gonna seal in your lipstick, make it waterproof, transfer-proof, and melt-proof.
Now bonus tip too, you can, if you don't wanna mix the two products together, you can absolutely
just go in with a brush, take a small amount on the brush, tap it onto your lips, and then
boom.
You have just sealed in your lipstick for all day melt-proof wear.
You'll see me use a fan throughout this video too, and this is a really important step.
If you are trying to speed up the process of letting your layers of product, whether
they're skincare products, foundation products, blush, whatever it is, if you're trying to
speed up the process of letting them dry down before you go on to the next light layer for
longevity and melt-proof makeup, a fan is gonna be your best friend.
So if time is not on your side and you need to speed that up quick, grab a portable fan,
grab a handheld fan, and you'll see me fanning and drying down my skin all throughout this
video.
Last but not least, let's go back to setting sprays, okay?
When you want melt-proof makeup, blush-proof makeup, sweat-proof makeup, whatever it is,
you need to be incorporating two setting sprays, okay?
So one's gonna be the binder.
One's gonna be the wet emulsifier.
It's gonna bind the makeup and all the products together.
It's gonna melt it into your skin and make it become one with your skin rather than just
sitting on top of your skin.
So these are gonna be the binders, okay?
The oily skin binder and the all-skin type, more dry skin type friendly binder, okay?
So you do that wet binding setting spray first.
Douse your skin.
Don't just do one, two, three, six sprays.
I always say minimum, eight sprays maximum, 10 if you just wanna go wild and crazy.
After you've applied that, you could take the fan, dry it down, or you could take a
small brush, push those setting sprays into the skin.
That way they're not sitting on top, they fully absorb, and you're just speeding up
that process.
Once you've done that, the Holy Grail for melt-proof makeup that's easily accessible,
easy to pick up, available at Sephora, it'll be linked down below.
This is something I don't encourage you to use every day.
This is something for those days where you need your makeup to be melt-proof, okay?
Keep it in your back pocket for when you need your makeup to just be pristine all day and
not move and slide off your skin.
The One Size Until Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray.
This is a completely different texture and it's a completely different purpose.
It's not gonna hydrate your skin.
This is gonna create an invisible shield and an invisible barrier between the elements,
oil, sweat, humidity, and makeup.
It's gonna be an invisible mask.
It's gonna create a film on your skin to prevent your makeup from going anywhere.
So this is your last step to create the utmost melt-proof makeup this summer.
And I highly encourage you to pick this up, especially a travel-size one is really handy
if you're traveling to a hot, humid climate.
Use this for a hot, humid day, a hot, humid night when you need your makeup to stay put,
