Unintentional ASMR: Flipping Thru Antique Chinese Books (Rice Paper, Hand Written)
#UnintentionalASMR #AntiqueBooks #ChineseBooks
Tonight we’re taking a slow look through an extraordinary set of antique Chinese thread-bound books.
These handmade volumes are printed in the traditional Chinese style on delicate xuan paper, with folded pages that are read from right to left and bound together with thread. As we carefully turn each page, we’ll discover beautiful illustrations, calligraphy, and centuries-old knowledge.
The collection appears to contain traditional manuals covering subjects such as healing, feng shui, protective rituals, Daoist practices, and classical Chinese learning. One illustration even appears to depict the famous Ming Dynasty physician Li Shizhen, author of the Compendium of Materia Medica.
This video is presented in the quiet, relaxed style that has always been part of Patrick’s Attic—simply exploring interesting historical objects together. No whispering, tapping, or intentional sound effects—just the natural sounds of turning pages while we appreciate a remarkable piece of history.
Thank you for watching and for helping preserve an interest in historical books, paper ephemera, and everyday artifacts from around the world.
