Wharram Hui 2026: Social Sail in Audierne, France

This year's Wharram Hui brought Polynesian-inspired double-hulled catamarans to Audierne, Brittany, France — organised by Hanneke Boon of Wharram Designs and us here at the Floating Stories Lab.
Eight skippers opened their self-built Wharram catamarans to the public and fellow enthusiasts, several of whom traveled thousands of kilometres for the festivities.
Sunday morning brought ideal winds for the Wharram Hui Social Sail. We hopped aboard Sila, a Tiki 30 modified to a Tiki 33, recently purchased by a friend based here in Finistère. Built by a professional boatbuilder who adapted the plans with his own expertise, Sila sails beautifully.
The fleet rafted up into a flotilla in the bay for lunch, swimming, and boat-hopping to check out every build. For anyone still on the fence about building or buying a Wharram, this was likely the day that tipped the scale.
Time to get back to building our Polynesian-inspired double canoe! Learn more about the 41ft Narai Mk IV with modifications we are building in Brittany, France, here: https://www.floatingstorieslab.org/th...
