During filming, 51-year-old Cary Grant and 26-year-old Grace Kelly shared a huge age gap. In a famous To Catch a Thief scene, Kelly’s character evades police by speeding down the Grande Corniche cliffside road. She drives a metallic sapphire blue 1953 Sunbeam Alpine Mk I roadster, chosen by Alfred Hitchcock’s wife, Alma, from an advertisement. This intense mountain drive over Monaco holds a tragic real-life irony: in September 1982, Princess Grace suffered a fatal stroke and crashed her car on a winding road in this exact same region. #oldhollywood #car #carcrash #mountain #FilmNoir #OldHollywood #ClassicHollywood
