With Focus about two and a half weeks away from its big debut, Warner Bros. just released 12 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from the film. Will Smith leads as Nicky, a skilled con man who strikes up a relationship with a novice, Margot Robbie’s Jess. When things get too intense, Nicky ends the romance. Three years later, he winds up bumping into Jess again, but now she’s an experienced femme fatale with the ability to throw Nicky off his game right in the middle of an especially dangerous operation.
I can’t say I’m particularly eager to see Focus, but these clips do have a fun, engaging energy to them that makes me more interested. The film is due in theaters on February 27th and also stars Rodrigo Santoro, Gerald McRaney, BD Wong and Adrian Martinez.
A group of pickpockets coordinates a sophisticated operation using a system of coded signals and distractions to target wealthy marks. The narrative shifts from the technical execution of their thefts to personal tensions and confrontations involving a character named Brad and a complicated professional or personal rivalry.
Why do I have to wear this? I'm gonna sprain an ankle.
Or a boob. I'm not sure which.
You know what? An email pickpocket would kill to have your figure.
Seriously, no one looks at your hands when you got that working for you.
I can't breathe. I feel like I'm being felt up by the Incredible Hulk.
Okay, first things first, we stick to rich folks, and no one with a cane or a wheelchair, it's bad luck.
So, Tommy's the shave, Garrett's the stick. All eyes on me until I make the mark, and once I fan him, I tug my lapel.
Two fingers means it's a crap folk, three fingers means the leather's an insider.
If it's a cordine or an ox tongue, I'll scratch my nose unless he uses my thumb, which means I am actually scratching my nose.
Just ask Garrett what happens when there's confusion about that.
Yeah, remember Fleet Week?
I do, 2003.
I almost got married.
That's good, actually. That's it.
He oils it.
Oh, I'm so sorry. Oh, God, my heel keeps coming off. I've been doing this all day. It's so annoying.
Thank you. You're such a gentleman. Thank you.
Hey, hey, don't worry. You think you're going.
Hi, I'm Andrew, and I think you and I should have at least one conversation before we get married.
Wow, that's your line? Is this your friend?
No, no, no.
Oh, wow. He doesn't like these shirts, does he? Look at that. All oily.
What's your name?
I'm Derrick.
Derrick. Derrick knows how to treat a lady.
Oh, married? I didn't mention that, did he?
Okay, you boys have a good night, then.
I'm just married on weekdays.
Oh, really? Okay.
Well, I guess it works.
You seem disappointed.
Did you baseline it to the special?
Yes.
You should have done this.
One more.
There she is again.
I've been looking for you.
Nice to meet you, too.
This goes out?
Si.
I will have one of those. Thank you.
So?
I have to run to the ladies' room.
I'll be right back.
I'll be here.
I know.
You can walk up to them.
I'm going to have him come up.
Grayson.
Hey, Grayson, you can have him come this way.
Oh, okay.
Hey, Grayson, keep following him.
He's going to talk to people when he goes through there.
See if you can pick it up.
Guys, give him a minute.
Attention.
We leave the glasses.
Remember...
Come with me.
I don't mind.
It's okay.
It works for me.
Let's go.
Let's get out of here.
Everybody, I got to go now.
Got it.
No sex, though.
Look at me go.
Next time, include a girl.
All right.
Which?
What?
I'm late for my plane?
Yeah.
It's real.
Next to the butcher.
You got the piece?
It's in my bag.
Can you reach her?
I do.
I have to reach her.
You could have gotten a bigger car.
It's rubbing the floor mat.
Why do you say stuff like that?
Hey, there.
Oh, hi.
So much weight.
I had little plans.
Yeah, you did.
Can you carry 50?
Sort of.
Can I?
Yeah.
They make you all nuts.
I do?
Good.
Yeah, I've never seen him like this.
He's barely worked since the office.
Seriously?
I know he's an a**hole.
I mean, a really big a**hole.
You should have handled it better.
He thought he was helping you, the hammerhead.
They make you all nuts.
I do?
Good.
Yeah, I've never seen him like this.
You know, he hasn't worked since the office.
Barely worked since the office.
Seriously?
I know he's an a**hole.
I mean, a really big a**hole.
You should have handled it better.
He thought he was helping you, the hammerhead.
Don't even get me started on his methodology.
He tried to find you.
He's my friend, and I'm gonna back him.
So can you give him a break?
He flew you all the way down here just to tell me that?
He knew you and me hit it off in New Orleans.
That was special.
I don't know.
I bet you thought that maybe you would listen to me, being that we were so close.
I don't know what to say to you, Brad.
It's a little more complicated than that.
You told me you got a thing going against me.
How are you still in the suspension?
Yeah, thanks.
Do you go?
That's where things get complicated.
Gordon!
You.
My favorite person, mate.
I'm sure.
About six inches taller.
Twice as handsome as when you were here.
Thank you very much, Mr. McKeown.
Best of luck to you.
Shithead.
Come on.
