Entity correspondent Jason Blair brings us more on that.
FBI Director Kash Patel calling security operations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
We had 5,000 personnel from the FBI, over 4,000 from the field, 800 from headquarters,
and we had our 59 Homeland Security Task Forces, which are stood up by President Trump.
The FBI, working with President Trump's White House FIFA Task Force,
conducted more than 300,000 background checks on players, coaches, and accredited personnel.
The FIFA Task Force was led by Andrew Giuliani.
He tells NTD while mega events like the World Cup typically see an uptick in human trafficking,
this tournament did not experience the surge many anticipated.
The majority of the credit goes to President Trump and how he's shut down the southern border.
You can't put a number on what that policy alone does to curbing human trafficking.
FIFA security also had an international police cooperation center featuring 71 police officers
and 80 security officials from 46 countries.
They shared real-time information and were on standby to respond to critical incidents.
Patel says the FBI was running simulations way in advance.
We had been running reps and sets and practices and rehearsals leading up to
the World Cup for the last 16, 17 months.
On Thursday, the White House said the World Cup was a, quote, tremendous success.
It not only was hugely beneficial to our businesses and our local economies across
the country, but I think it showed that America is the greatest country on earth.
Another highlight from Patel was the first-of-its-kind counter drone training
established in 2025 specifically for the World Cup.
