I can't show you my call log.
Then you'll really know what man's supposed to make the headlines.
Hi Allure, I'm Amanda Seyfried.
And I'm Sydney Sweeney, and this is Truth Serum.
Ow.
I can handle this.
Yeah, I think we're good.
Cheers.
Oh.
Whoa.
The truth is, it's tangy.
What is one beauty rumor about yourself that you want to debunk right now?
Go, girl.
What's one beauty rumor?
Let's debunk them all.
I mean, I have never gotten work done.
I am so scared of needles.
You have no idea.
But it's really effective once you get older.
I'm telling you right now.
I am too scared of needles.
You guys, you cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting.
Of course I'm going to look different.
Everybody on social media is insane.
When you do.
I'll call you.
You gotta call me, and I'll give you a little bit of Ativan, and you'll be so excited.
But you don't need it yet.
Also, if I did, you guys, my face would be even.
Not necessarily.
No?
What do you mean even?
Is it uneven?
One eyelid opens a little more than the other.
When I was younger, I had a wakeboarding accident right here, and I did 19 stitches.
So I feel like it pulls my eye just a little differently than either.
I still don't see it, but there's an art to it.
You can't just get it everywhere like a lot of people do.
You can just, like, you don't need it.
No.
Do you have a tattoo?
If so, where and what?
I just have my foot.
It says Minj.
It's like my nickname, and it does mean, like, genitalia in English, like a British slang.
But it was a long time ago, and it's actually a name my girlfriends and I call each other.
Your girlfriend calls you genitalia?
Minj.
Yeah.
It's like my Instagram handle.
It's like a...
Yeah.
Minji.
Minji, yeah.
It's like a term of endearment.
It's turned into that, and it was from Mamma Mia.
One.
We all have it.
The girls, you know, Ally, Lisa, and Sophie, we all have the tattoo on our feet.
It's so silly.
Oh, I love that.
I know.
So, no judgment, are looks important to you when dating someone?
I mean, I'd like a well-kept man that's tall and handsome and beautiful eyes and big arms and hands.
But then, like, the personality's not good.
Then he's not attractive.
Exactly.
Yeah.
But, like, it's the whole thing, but it's...
You could be, like, the hottest man ever.
If you have a ---- personality...
No.
If you let your ego rule the day, then you're a loser.
If you have a great personality...
You win.
You're pretty good.
Put sunglasses on, you're great.
What is the grossest thing you've ever done in the name of beauty?
Drink some more.
Tell us the truth.
I mean, I think it's pretty gross in general to have to slough off your hard skin on your toes and on your heels and the mess that you make when you do it.
What's this?
You know when you, like, wear shoes, like, in the summer when you wear your Crocs too much and you get, like, manure trapped in, like, in your skin and in your toenails?
And so, like, you have to soak your feet and then you have to, like, slough off with that thing that sloughs off dead skin.
And then the skin's, like, kind of, like, poopy.
And then you have to, like, you know, just trimming your nails.
I think you've read too much truth serum now.
Yeah, it's just gross.
It's actual literal ----.
She actually lives on a farm.
I do.
And I'm very active on my farm when I'm home.
Blonde or brunette?
How do you personally prefer to wear your hair?
Blonde.
Blonde?
I actually just went blonde.
It's inspired by the housemaid.
What about you?
What's your preference?
I don't know, because, what, do you consider this blonde?
See, I consider this brunette.
No way, no way.
No, that's blonde.
You've got, like, an ombre, kind of ombre.
That's blonde.
I don't know.
That's, like, honey, honey-er.
Dirty blonde.
No, I don't think that's dirty blonde.
Uh, no.
I would consider you blonde.
I like being blonde.
Yeah.
I mean, the Cassie blonde ---- is weird.
I love.
But when I was the first two seasons, when I was dying my hair Cassie blonde, it was
just coming out, so I had to stop.
So now I'm letting my natural hair grow.
You've got to give it a break.
I know.
Beauty is hard, but also, like, wigs are really great.
Wigs are amazing.
May I have a refill, please?
You were drinking this truth serum.
Like an old woman.
Were you ever offered a role that offended you?
Oh.
Mm-hmm.
Um, so many.
In fact, I can't even, like, tell you specifically what it was, but after I played Karen in Mean
Girls, it was basically, like, the bimbo.
Which is what Hollywood does.
I get it.
They do that.
It's fine.
They do that.
And we just wanted to work, so I had to be, like, very careful that I didn't take too
many jobs that were the same.
Yep.
And instead do things that showed range.
It's the challenge of, like, kind of being a woman in Hollywood, but also just, like,
the first thing you play, people always see that first.
Yeah.
So, that said, we both play iconic high school characters.
What advice would Karen and Cassie give to your high school self?
Oh, my goodness.
I don't know if I'd want to take advice from Cassie.
I don't think I would take advice from Cassie, to be honest.
I mean, Cassie was way more confident with her self-image than I was in high school,
so maybe something like that, but I don't know if I would.
I mean, that's good to see.
Yeah.
About Karen.
I think the only kind of advice you can take from her is that she lives in the present.
You know?
What is the wildest beauty transformation you've ever done for a role?
Very tricky.
I always forget everything.
Oh!
Oh, God.
I actually played someone who was going through chemo, and there was a lot of skin makeup.
It was prosthetics, and that's just tricky to see when you look in the mirror,
because it's, like, one of my biggest fears, and it was really hard for my husband to see it.
I have to remember that I'm not going through this.
No.
What's the biggest transformation, beauty transformation, that you've had to go through for a movie?
I've transformed myself for Christie quite a bit.
How long did it take?
I had, like, two and a half, three months to train and gain weight,
and then I had to keep it on for, like, the entirety of the film.
So, top of July until Thanksgiving.
Did you have to, like, wake up at 4 a.m. and eat chicken?
No.
Okay.
So, when I was filming, I'd have, like, different wigs for the different eras,
and then I had brown contacts in.
It's very different.
I did contacts once, brown contacts.
And looking in the mirror is really awesome.
It's crazy, yeah.
It really helps.
It's not just shoes or costumes.
It's, like, when you get to that level of specificity, it's really helpful.
Yeah.
Okay, which character of yours are you most, like, IRL?
Who?
I don't know.
I honestly feel, like, I mean, Christie and I are vastly different in a lot of ways,
but I learned so much about myself when I was playing Christie.
We're both very driven and strong-willed,
and, like, she fought her own fights and battles within the ring and outside the ring,
and I feel like, metaphorically, I have that going on in my life as well.
So, honestly, I think Christie.
Yeah.
Word.
What about you?
I mean, in some ways, Sophie from Mamma Mia is, like—
I also think at that point in my life, it was the first time I'd ever, like, really gone away
and done something on my own, and I think the same thing happened,
and so many of my friends are from that moment in my life.
But also, she's so optimistic and, like, excited about people and connecting people
and, like, socializing, and she's nuts too.
So I just feel like we're very similar.
What's one onset habit you wish you could break?
I just wish I would stop eating all the time.
I need to do meals between every shot.
I'm, like, looking for the food, and I don't eat a lot of it.
It's all I think about.
I mean, we're walking from room to room today.
We're eating cookies in our hands as we walk.
But at least people are giving it to us.
I have to, like, search out the craft service table all the time,
and it's just one of those things that I get really addicted to,
and it's just, like, if I just ate a meal, I would focus more on my work.
But I like to snack.
When it comes to acting, do you prefer playing the hero or the villain?
The villain.
I think it's more complicated, and it's more challenging,
and I always love trying to find ways to humanize characters
that people might have a hard time finding empathy for,
and then they start to question why they have empathy for this character.
That could be morally complicated.
Yeah.
That's the truth.
Same.
Yeah.
It's exactly the same.
It's, like, you challenge yourself, you challenge the audience,
you play around in the middle.
It's way more fun.
And you both do that in this film.
Yes, we do.
We do.
Let's keep going.
Show us the last person you FaceTimed.
Oh, gosh, who was the last person I FaceTimed?
Oh, no.
I'm actually worried now.
I'm really worried.
That was my dad.
Yeah, there it is.
Daddy.
With, like, 10,000 emojis.
Daddy, Daddy.
Mod.
Wait, wait, I also call my dad Daddy.
Daddy.
Yeah, I can't show you my call log.
Then you'll really know what man's supposed to make the headlines.
Right?
No cheating.
Show us your screen time.
Oh, I mean, today's not so bad.
We were working all day, so.
How do I do that?
Here.
Oh.
Wow.
No, hold on, hold on.
It just changed.
Wait, no.
Three hours and 53 minutes.
There's absolutely no way I read or took information in.
The phone doesn't lie.
I wasn't on.
There was no.
Oh, oh, oh, oh.
I went to the gym this morning.
Okay, you did 46 minutes of texting, 43 minutes of Instagram, 38 minutes of WhatsApp, New York Times, or Delta.
You were on your Delta trying to figure out your flight a lot today.
Yeah.
Yeah, right.
Oh, wow.
I didn't even know.
Oh, my God.
Four minutes on Safari.
That's awesome.
I'm trying not to Safari.
Try not to go on my Safari.
I've never heard.
I'm trying not to.
And you know what I did on the New York Times app?
Wait, I have the New York Times games app.
I did Sudoku.
That's why I spent so much time on it.
I do.
It's hard today.
It's fun.
It's really fun.
I haven't done the world yet.
So, between the two of us, who do you think is a better singer?
I don't know.
You.
I don't know.
We don't know.
You.
You haven't sang.
Because I am too scared.
I know, but in the shower.
I sing in the shower.
So, do you sing well?
I mean, it depends on what kind of genre.
So, truth be told, I grew up singing classical music.
So, I'd sing like talent shows.
I sang Phantom of the Opera, like Think of Me in fourth grade.
Think of me.
Too nervous.
Well, you can definitely hold a tune.
Obviously.
I do karaoke.
Duh, what are we talking about?
Yes, you do karaoke.
I love to karaoke.
So, wait a minute.
No, no, no.
But that.
Okay, so I have a routine.
So, I have a place in Key West.
And I love it down there.
You've got to come.
It's so much fun.
Key West is perfect.
But I rarely go out.
I'm very much a homebody.
A few times, I have fun.
And I'll go down to Duval Street, which is a really good time.
And I have my path of the bar hops.
You go down.
You go to Sloppy Joe's, the Irish Bar.
And then you keep jumping your way down.
And then I end up at the karaoke bar.
By the time I get to the karaoke bar, I don't even know I'm at the karaoke bar.
And I'm having a great time.
It's so much fun.
My go-to is, like, rap music.
I also just don't like to sing.
Yeah.
Lose yourself.
Mine too.
Yeah, it's fun.
I can rap that with you.
Okay.
Are we going to do it right now?
No, no, no.
No, no.
If you've got one shot, one opportunity,
to do the right thing you ever wanted,
in one moment,
would you capture it?
Or just let it slip?
Yo.
It's probably this right here.
Alrighty.
Mine's okay.
Okay.
I don't know if I should drink this.
You really do know the lyrics to that.
I do not at all.
Oh, my God.
I also can't.
No, when you said that, I was like, of course, that's your song.
It's my song.
When you've got one shot, one opportunity,
to do everything you ever want.
Where is he?
I don't know.
I love him.
I mean, we always learn something from each other.
Yeah.
Yeah, Sydney can sing, and she's been hiding it.
There's like a lot to recap.
We have a lot to talk about.
We've got a lot to recap.
Yeah.
Thank you, Allure.
Thank you so much.
Truth was spelled.
I was told.
