Chrysanthemum on Olive Xuan Paper

Ling Chi is back revisiting the iconic Chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum is one of the essential "Four Gentlemen" subjects of Chinese brush painting (Orchid, Bamboo, Chrysanthemum, and Plum). Each represents a season and Chrysanthemum is the Gentleman of Autumn.

Along with the basic strokes for petals, leaves, and stem, Ling Chi demonstrates and discusses ways to effectively paint on colored xuan paper. Painting on our Olive Xuan paper Ling Chi shows how to use different whites and metallic/pearlescent colors to create interesting contrast on colored xuan paper.
