The discussion also covers the decline of Europe, tensions with Iran, Australian political shifts, corruption in Victoria, Obama's views on extraterrestrial life, and the ongoing scandals plaguing the British Royal Family.
Hello and welcome to Power Hour. I'm Gabriella Power. Thank you so much for
joining us. President Donald Trump has had a bit to say about the Democrats who
embarrassed themselves on the world stage at the Munich Security Conference.
The President called out AOC, Gavin Newsom and Hillary Clinton for their
performances saying it was not a good look for America.
By the way, I watched AOC answering questions in Munich. This was not a good
look with the United States. I watched Gavin Newsom answering questions
in Munich and this was a bad look for our country. This was a bad...
These two people are incompetent and at least Hillary's competent. She's just
Trump deranged. She was so deranged. She is an angry woman but I watched the
other two speaking and answering basic questions.
Look, Gavin has destroyed California and AOC, I never really got her to... I never
heard her speak very much and they started answering questions. She had no
idea what was happening. She had no idea how to answer, you know, very important
questions concerning the world. But she can't answer questions concerning New
York City either because New York City has got some problems.
Is he wrong? I don't think so but you be the judge. Firstly, here's Gavin Newsom
with his out-of-control climate alarmism saying people are burning up all because
of climate change. Many have called Joe Biden the climate president but that
didn't help with his re-election. So how important do you think climate issues
will be back for the 2028 presidential election? Well, you may not believe in
science but you got to believe your own eyes. I mean, people are burning up,
choking up, heating up. We have simultaneous droughts and floods.
Historic wildfires. You know maybe little about California. You've seen those
images of these wildfires. Talk about being as dumb as we want to be. I mean,
not mentioning that he failed on just about every level to prepare California
for those horrific wildfires in January last year. But let's look at AOC's
performance for the cameras in Munich. We played some of the parts yesterday.
Here's a little bit more. And according to Politico, AOC spent months preparing
for this appearance. I mean, this was her big chance to outline her vision for
foreign policy. Yet, this is how she responded to a very straightforward but
important question about Taiwan. Would and should the US actually commit US
troops to defend Taiwan if China were to move? You know, I think that this is
such a, you know, I think that this is a, this is of course a very long-standing
policy of the United States. And I think what we are hoping for is that we want
to make sure that we never get to that point. And we want to make sure that we
are moving in all of our economic research and our global positions to
avoid any such confrontation and for that question to even arise. She has no
idea. I didn't think we were going to get there. It was certainly painful.
Finally, Hillary Clinton, who while she was speaking at this conference, admitted
very obvious point that mass migration has been destabilizing for the United
States. Tell that to Joe Biden. But she began panicking as she was called out
for her Trump derangement syndrome that clearly prevents her from just hearing a
rational argument. We saw the cancel culture. We saw the woke
revolution. I don't agree with the gender revolution, the climate
alarmism. I think there are two genders, but some of us think that there is
more than one or more than two, sorry, more than two gender. I think there is
male and female and the rest probably is a social construct. So this is something
that went too far. But does that justify selling out the people of Ukraine who
are on the front lines dying to save their freedom and their two genders if
that's what you're worried about? Can I please finish my points? I'm sorry that
it makes you nervous. I'm really sorry for that. It makes me very angry.
Joining us now is filmmaker Ami Horowitz. Ami, it's great to see you again. Let's
start with Munich. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is right now trying to spin
her way out of her train wreck appearances at the annual Munich
Security Conference where it was just gaffe after gaffe after gaffe. I mean
there are now legitimate questions around how much she actually knows other
than the lines that she's been given. And what shocked me is that she'd been
preparing for this conference for months, yet she couldn't answer really basic
questions about foreign policy. She revealed that she didn't know where
Venezuela is. It was such a disaster. But she's clearly panicking now. She's since
been on the phone to a reporter at the New York Times to explain what on earth
she was doing there. And she claims, Ami, no no no it's not because she wants to
run for president. I don't know who got that idea. But it's because we need to
sound the alarm bells about inequality that is fueling far-right populist
movements. Can I get your reaction? What are your thoughts on AOC's performance
and what she was really doing in Munich? Yeah who's who's not surprised that she
doesn't know what she's talking about? Okay not this guy. I think it's pretty
obvious and she just what she did was she she opened her idiocy to the entire
world. But nobody in the U.S. who's been following politics is shocked by this at
all. Yeah you know she specifically talked about Venezuela being below the
and of course that was a gaffe. But it does signal a larger kind of narrative
for her right because she wants it so badly to be there because this whole
leftist viewpoint that it's a South versus the North. That's a conflict that
we're in geopolitically. And that we the North have been putting upon the South
for years. So it kind of fits. I think what's fascinating also is that you see
all of the center-left right the media going after her attacking her. Why?
Because they are so afraid that she might win the nomination. That she if
winning the nomination would throw away golden opportunity for the Democrats to
return to the White House. They are so scared of that that even they went after
her where they normally wouldn't because they want to make sure that she is not
the nominee. Yeah it was fascinating. It was a train wreck. It was a tire fire and
Gabriella I was here for all of it. Love to see it. Yeah we do we do and you're
right about kind of the left-wing critics really going after her. I mean
the Washington Post editorial board said that she was appeared out of her depth.
Former CNN journalist said that she was not great. I also want to talk about
Gavin Newsom who again claimed that the January wildfires last year were so
catastrophic not because of his failure to prepare the state but because of
climate change army. But Gavin Newsom signed a clean energy agreement with the
UK government. So UK and California will work together in investments in green
energy which will supposedly it's supposedly going to be cutting bills for
families. I'm not sure about that. Donald Trump says that the UK has got
enough trouble without getting involved with Gavin Newsom. The worst thing that
the UK can do is to get involved with Gavin if they did to the UK what he did
to California this will not be a very successful venture. Army is that a bit
harsh from Donald Trump or has he got a point? Look both things could be true and
both things are true. Look do I love the President of the United States using
terminology like Gavin Newsom? I do not but you know like I just tell my kids
all the time you get what you get you don't get upset okay. Look we voted for
Donald Trump. Donald Trump was our president. Good Trump and bad Trump. Now I
think that good Trump outweighs most of the bad Trump but the bad Trump stuff is
still there. I don't like that kind of language so be it. Look I find that the
Gavin Newsom thing is so interesting. You know there was this famous
quote by Senator Vandenberg in 1947 which said that politics does
not leave the water's edge. And obviously you know that kind of seems trite and
nowadays it's been generations since we no longer followed that axiom
unfortunately and Gavin Newsom is no different. He went out on a global stage
and said horrific things for example he's talking about how you know he's
trying to make an argument which is unbelievable to me that hey don't worry
about it this president is temporary don't deal with him right we'll we'll
set up deals on our own California on a state level don't do deals at a
federal level that is a you know really a problematic thing for our country writ
large. And then he continues doubling down this weird terminology things
like you know Trump is on his knees to China and and big coal. How the European
leaders need knee pads when they're dealing with Donald Trump. Dealing
with Donald Trump is like having sex with a T-Rex. I don't know exactly how he
knows what that is like. I don't question it because Gavin Newsom he's got a lot of
sex problems he's got a hard time keeping his pants right so maybe that's
why he keeps talking about that kind of stuff. Famously had sex with his best
friend's wife. Look this is part of the problem part of the package you get with
with Gavin Newsom but don't sleep on him he would be I want to be clear a very
horrible candidate for the Democratic Party. Well let's look at the options
because early polling shows that Kamala Harris is actually the favorite to win
the Democratic nomination if she runs in 2028. This is polling conducted by
Focal Data published in Newsweek and it shows that Kamala Harris is the early
favorite with 39% support followed by Gavin Newsom with 21% support and AOC
there she is she's still got 10%. My goodness that polling is pretty
consistent with what we've been seeing in in recent months. What do you make of
it? Yeah look there's been four major polls in 2026 and Kamala Harris is
leading in three out of the four and the fourth she's in the second place. Oh God
the Democrats just don't learn their lessons right they even even after again
I said I said it before I'll say it again they have a golden opportunity in
2028 right things are trending toward them yet they cannot help but have score
and own goal. God Kamala Harris you know I love my
favorite Kamala Harris story I don't know if you remember this Gabriela but she is so
cringe right she is somebody who can't even do something small talk that she
had to practice for a soiree with the the the practice attendees were people
that work for her because she had to practice on small talk she had to
practice having conversation with people in a social setting it's so she's such a
bizarre person. Yeah like I said Gavin Newsom he's creeping around there at
second place I think he'd be a tough candidate to beat and yeah let's not
forget AOC I know she's in third place with kind of a distant 10% but let's not
forget this is where the Democratic Party is trending hard towards right
yeah you know Bernie Sanders we forget that when he ran for president for the
nomination against Joe Biden he won the first three primaries okay he was looking
like he was going to be right comrade Bernie looked like he was going to win
and the only one that saved the Democratic Party was James Clyburn the
congressman from South Carolina decided to step in and push hard in that fourth
primary South Carolina for Joe Biden that's what turned the tide otherwise
Bernie Sanders would have been the nominee so yeah does AOC have a path she
most certainly does. And I think that's certainly why she was making some noise
in Munich even though she completely denies that she would want to be
president. What about Republicans though I mean that was a such a brilliant speech
by Marco Rubio let's just listen to part of it. The fundamental question we must
answer at the outset is what exactly are we defending because armies do not fight
for abstractions armies fight for a people armies fight for a nation armies
fight for a way of life and that is what we are defending a great civilization
that has every reason to be proud of its history. I think it was just
absolutely outstanding Jenny Vance was asked about it on Fox News today he was
also asked if he'd like to be president which he of course brushed off but he
had this to say about Marco Rubio's speech. That the reason why the president
or Marco or me talk about borders the reason why we talk about them spending
more on their own security the reason that we talk about them more becoming a
vibrant economy again is that we want Europe to thrive and we want Europe to
succeed the problem that we have with Europe is not that we don't like Europe
even though you hear that from the European press it's not that we don't
respect our allies it's that they are doing a lot of things to sabotage
themselves we would like that to stop we would like them to be an ally in the true
sense of the word. I mean it's interesting because of course I'd
remember last year JD Vance's speech was a bit more aggressive you know he's
pretty direct as he was kind of lashing Europe for its problems whereas Marco
Rubio he certainly delivered a strong message warning against the consequences
of mass migration but it was a lot warmer. What are your thoughts around
that and also looking at 2028? Yeah no it was a great speech I mean as far as
2028 goes god I'm so sick of this guys just be honest about what you want to do we
all know that AOC is running we all know JD Vance is running I'd rather they
just be a little more honest about it but so be it but no he's going to be one
of the great frankly so funny seeing Rubio and Vance talking about this
because it will be probably Rubio and Vance up until the last moments of who
we decide will lead the Republican Party. As far as Europe goes yeah the speech
was amazing because and on point because Europe is going through continental
self-immolation we're seeing it in real time yes of course the out-of-control
mass immigration that they're allowing in Europe creating all this societal and
political dislocation in the continent but it's more than that you're talking
about they're erasing their own self-identity they're they're they're
they're destroying the free speech is almost non-existent right now in Europe
and also the massive economic failures over and over again look you know of the
top 50 tech companies two two of the 50 are European Garbiela it is
unbelievable and the way they're combating that is not saying hey let's
have more entrepreneurship let's focus more on economic freedom let's unleash
the intellectual prowess of this continent no what they do is they're at
war with US tech companies right that's what they're doing through through
regulation and legislation and these massive fine they have fined US tech
companies tens of billions of dollars Europe this is not going to solve your
problem you have to face up that you are destroying your own continent and
this is again a own goal you're doing it to yourself you can change it they
refuse to do it in fact they laughed at Rubio speech they laughed at it guys I
think rather than laughing it should be taking notes yeah good point interesting
if you were up there armies very strong words the way you put it but I agree
completely finally I want to talk about these negotiations that have taken place
between the u.s. and Iran those talks have been held in Geneva the reports
coming out of Geneva is that the pro that progress has been made but there
is still a lot to discuss this is what the president had to say ahead of those
talks
so I'll be involved in those talks directly quickly
good negotiators or bad I would say instead of sending them we've also heard
from President Trump just in the last few days that regime change would be the
best thing to happen so it seems as though it's a matter of when not if the
u.s. attacks Iran what's your sense of where things are at yeah there's a
carrier group right now floating around Iran Iran knows that President Trump is
not all about talk just like the last 20 years of other presidents said well
we're not gonna take anything off the table yeah you did you were never
considering any kind of action against Iran to the kinetic action but the
president decided hey we're gonna show that to be something we can use and they
did use it and that's why Iran is back at the table you know in the negotiation
they're having now look I do I think it's gonna be come to fruition probably
not but I know I'll tell you one thing that they're focusing not just on their
nuclear issue right which everybody else talked about but focusing on things that
other presidents did not really Barack Obama and Joe Biden their ballistic
capability their continuing funding of militant organizations around the world
yeah I've said it before a million times it bears repeating the Iranian regime
falling will be one of the most consequential foreign policy
achievements since the fall the Soviet Union and that's not hyperbole that is
actual fact and truth okay and Obama's failure on the GC the GCP away the Joint
Comprehension Plan of Action which by the way you have to be smoking a joint
some some California kush to have signed that because it was an awful absolutely
awful deal was one of the hallmarks the foreign policy failures of Barack Obama
was Donald Trump got us out of quickly you know one quick story you know I
remember when I was there doing the the negotiation of the JCPOA first of all
the US negotiators the Iran negotiators were staying in a $1,200 a night hotel
that says a lot about our taxpayer dollars and even the Iranian taxpayer
dollars I stayed in Marriott a hundred yards away for 250 a night but when I
spoke with the US negotiators and it shows how different times have you know
what the changes have been since then and now I remember talking to them over
drinks and saying well we okay I know you're trying to negotiate here where's
the different approach to how I would deal with this issue but we do both
agree that Iran is trying to to build a nuclear weapon they laughed at me they
said how do you're so naive we're experts of course we don't know that
we're not certain of that and that's what led to that disastrous agreement
the JCPOA so yeah I'm all for it I love what Trump is doing and hopefully we're
gonna see a new regime in Iran in the near future well we're watching it all
very closely Armie Horowitz filmmaker thank you so much for your time great to
speak with you always a pleasure getting us now in the studio is Sky News
contributor Joe Hildebrand Joe Hildebrand thank you so much for your
time thank you so much for having me it's great to be here great to have you
back look at the newly elected opposition leader Angus Taylor he's
unveiled his front bench a big reshuffle some key figures returning to the front
bench such as Jacinta Nampagin for price and hasty yeah I'm just a quick
look at the new portfolios Tim Wilson taking on shadow treasurer Claire
Chandler a shadow finance minister Jacinta Nampagin for price the new
shadow small business minister James Patterson moving into defense Andrew
hasty taking on the industry portfolio that's just a brief look what are your
thoughts on the new team I think it's actually a really smart decision I like
Tim Wilson I think he will be a very good Treasury's one of their best
performers it also raises profile keeps him a bit safer from the teals hopefully
I think having hasty obviously in industry when he's made it his kind of
you know ironically you know his leadership platform that we need to
start making things in Australia again so that gives him a really strong basis
to be able to prosecute that argument and say we want to put Australia first
Australian made without necessarily straying into immigration policy which
is potentially I don't necessarily not want to have him here but I think that's
something that that Taylor and he's been quite clear on it clearly yeah but he's
going to have to navigate quite carefully to make sure that he is seen
as strong on national security strong on our borders strong on cracking down on
immigration but at the same time not straying into territory that could spook
Libs in or soft Libs in metropolitan seats and and I think moving James
Patterson into defense he's been incredibly strong on national security
matters so that's a bit of a no-brainer as well. Let's listen to him actually of course
defense opposition defense spokesperson James Patterson he's called on the
government to place temporary exclusion orders on the so-called Isis bride
seeking to return back to Australia warning that their return would
jeopardize the safety and security of the country and it's certainly hard to
disagree with that of course these people left Australia to allegedly join a
terror group there are reports today that three of the so-called Isis brides
are considered high-risk have reportedly not been interviewed by authorities in
three years let's listen to James Patterson earlier on Sky News today well
we're relying on media reports only here Laura the government hasn't actually
provided any information about what they know about when they knew it and
about what they're doing to manage this risk to the Australian population but
self-evidently someone who left our country to join a listed terrorist
organization like Isis by definition poses some level of risk and the height
and the exact level of that risk will depend on their individual circumstances
that we don't know but I'm very concerned that we appear to have a
freelance repatriation operation being run by a private citizen and media
reports indicate dr. Jamal Riffey is running this now he's a respected member
of the community but he's a private citizen he shouldn't be running
repatriation operations and he's also known to be a close personal friend what
do you make of James Patterson's comments there and this Isis bride story
in general I mean it's so many people are concerned about this yeah look
obviously we're right to be concerned and we should be very careful it's
incredibly complex and again there's so much as James was saying there's so many
things we don't know so I know Jamal Riffey really well he's an incredibly
good decent man he himself has been the target of threats death threats by Isis
and Isis associated or Isis influenced people in Australia in his own community
and so he knows more than anyone he's got more skin in the game I mean he and
his family have had to move house they've had to take out all sorts of
protective actions against exactly this kind of radicalization so I guess if he
is there actually doing it I think he's you know he's more at risk himself than
anyone so that gives me actually some faith believe it or not and you and you
would have heard James Patterson say he's an incredibly respected member of
the community he is one of the the moderates that has come out against for
example a Muslim voice or Muslim votes matter or the various myriad sort of
Muslim movements that ran against Labor from the hard extreme you know left if
you like the last election. Anti-Albanesia has obviously said they
will get no government assistance they will not be repatriated the question is
if they are citizens if they have not been committed convicted of any crime in
their host countries what can you actually do to stop them coming back to
Australia and legally my understanding is that there is just not I mean we need
to have our intelligence agencies looking at them examining them screening
them assessing the level of threat monitoring it when they're back here but
again if they're citizens and they want to come back to Australia and there's
you know they're not being detained in a foreign country I'm not sure what legal
recourse the government has to stop them it certainly doesn't have to assist them
but if they're just there seeking consular assistance. Even today a former
AFP detective superintendent David Craig warned that this this ISIS brides this
group attempting to return to Australia it poses an unacceptable risk to the
community I just I don't think Australians. Yeah certainly some do I mean
the question is again that there's there's going to be a cohort that were
radicalized themselves and you know bought into all this stuff there is
probably almost certainly a cohort who was coerced who were forced to go by
their partners Islamist extremists are not known for being particularly
progressive when it comes to gender politics what a surprise so they could
have just been forced for some it could be a combination of both but again I
know I've read those comments by the former AFP senior officer you know yes
there may be a risk that risk has to be managed and they have to be monitored
and screened but I don't know what legal mechanism and no one has been able
to explain exactly if they are citizens and they want to come home and no
one's been able to prove that they've committed a crime or they haven't been
convicted of it in that country or this one some might come home and face
criminal charges here that's great if they've done something but if they
haven't how do you actually stop them under Australian law that that is the
complicated question all right well I want to talk about Victoria there are
calls for Victorian Premier Jacinta Allen to resign following allegations
of massive CFMEU corruption of course the Victorian Labor Government is
accused of either turning a blind eye or being incredibly incompetent after this
report by respected corruption expert Jeffrey Watson found widespread
corruption on Victoria's big build infrastructure program an estimated 15
billion dollars of taxpayer money allegedly funneled into the hands of
criminals Jacinta Allen rejects the claims that she turned a blind eye she
insists that she acted immediately by submitting a complaint to IBAC in 2024
if you refuse to call for a Royal Commission you know in my opinion just
watching her press conferences and taking questions from reporters a lot of
deflection reminds me the Daniel Daniel Andrews era but Victorians have
suffered so much particularly during COVID those lockdowns and now to hear
reports that potentially their taxpayer money is going to criminals yeah it is
a bit better there's been question marks over the activities of the CFMEU in
Victoria the Victorian branch is particularly particularly full-on and
militant and there have been questions about its links to both Allen and the
Andrews government as well it is an absolutely appalling look obviously the
CFMEU is currently persona non grata in the Labor Party and among the broader
labor movement because of their actions Jacinta Allen saying oh no I acted in
2024 I referred it to IBAC well IBAC said no we can't actually act on this
because it's outside our jurisdiction and she just dropped it like oh oh what
a shame oh well if only we were if only we knew someone in the government who
could maybe change the law so that you could act on it or refer it to another
actual inquiry that could actually look at it like a Royal Commission for example
imagine if there was if only I knew someone who had those kinds of magical
powers only we could get some answers and again as Anthony Galloway made a really
good point in the Australian talking about this the one sort of thing the one
good story that the state Labor government has to tell is its
infrastructure spend what it calls the big build as you said and you know look
at all these things we're building you know the SkyRail you know the suburban
rail loop look at all these magical things we're giving you Victoria don't
worry about the debt look at all those look at the debt don't worry about what
the product costs but look at how beautiful and shiny it is but now of
course they can't talk about that without questions about the CFMEU's
role being raised which means that I can't campaign on that at the upcoming
state election and so what do they campaign on obviously they're in a world
of pain in the polls they're probably a better sharper tougher stronger
campaigning machine than the Libs are who have you know won one election in
more than the last 20 years but it does sort of you know it does take now it
basically kicks out a pretty big stilt underneath their Queenslander if you
like well I want to move on to what is happening in America or out of space
potentially former President Barack Obama has backtracked
real let's just listen to what he had to say during an interview with Brian
Tyler Cohen are aliens real they're real but I haven't seen them and they're
not being kept in what is it area 51 there's no underground facility unless
there's this enormous conspiracy and they they hid it from the president
United States what was the first question you wanted answered when you
became president where are the aliens where are the aliens backtracked and
issued a clarification on Instagram saying I was trying to stick with the
spirit of the speed round but since it's gotten attention let me clarify
statistically the universe is so vast that the odds are good that there's life
out there but the distances between solar systems are so great that the
chances we've been visited by aliens is low and I saw no evidence during my
presidency that aliens have made contact the conspiracy is he telling the
truth of course he's not they're all there in Roswell we all know they live
amongst us I could name a few myself actually sure aliens that's right but no
he's absolutely right and this is something and I want to clarify cuz I
did notice this story but I was not the one who suggested this topic this is
knows me no I love a lot of folks and it landed in my inbox and I went oh my god
I'm obsessed with something called the Fermi paradox right and this was
something that came up that was come up with by the Italian physicist Enrico
Fermi right and there's this famous story that him and all his fellow
physicists they're all working on this project together they go out for lunch
and they're just shooting the breeze right and they're sitting out lunch that
and he says look statistically and this is exactly what Obama said statistically
aliens must exist right and they calculate the thing I don't know
whatever physicists do so there's X billion million stars and X billion
million planets and an infinite number of you know whatever whatever and so
there's like yep it's actually indisputable mathematically speaking
aliens definitely exist okay right and Enrico Fermi supposedly said these
famous lines said so where is everybody like where are they right here and so
they start sort of spitballing that thing what is it and of course they
figure out and this is what Obama's getting at they figure out that to
develop the technology needed for interstellar travel travel between stars
or solar systems you would first have to develop the technology that could
destroy your own planet okay so so so basically to get to the level of
technological advancement where you could you know jump through you know
wormholes or travel at light speed or whatever you know you must first by
logic have to have developed enough technology where you could do terrible
things to yourself first and so I figured out that pretty much everyone
had self-combusted before they'd got to the level to develop the technology
needed to get there and the best part about this story given that we're
talking about you know worldwide planetary extinction yes is that the
project they were working on was the Manhattan project Enrico Fermi was one
of the physicists who developed a nuclear bomb Wow and so he was actually
developing that technology that would could destroy a world before we got to
the next step of being able to visit another one so how's that there you go
what a topic there you go to bring on to discuss aliens in depth that's right to
keep talking about it I do find it interesting that Barack Obama was a
quick yes and then backtracking because that's right because the question is
are there aliens somewhere yes mathematically they have a are they here
no they're in maybe it's part of the stardust that they've turned themselves
into maybe hitting the red button Jay Hill around thank you so much always a
pleasure joining us now it's UK barrister and
broadcaster Andrew Yvonne Andrew it's wonderful to see you again it's wonderful
to see you Gabriella Kung hey fat joy happy new year Chinese New Year of the
horse and I can tell you that nothing's stable in royal circles at the moment I
know giddy up for year of the horse I'm excited about that happy new year to you
as well the fallout from Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's association with
convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein it is obviously no doubt one of the most
damaging scandals a modern market monarchy has ever faced we're going to
get into the very latest all the details from you in a moment but there
have been many scandals rocking the royal family going back a long time King
Edward gave up the throne to marry in 1936 in 1992 the Queen saw three of her
four children end their marriages and of course there was Meg's it in 2020 I mean
there have been so many royals have faced in recent times what really stands
out to you which is extraordinary isn't it because it's undoubtedly one of the
biggest scandals to rock the Royals is the Andrews scandal with the Epstein and
more and more revelations as I predicted on this very very show but if you haven't
looked throughout history just the last 90 years it was 1936 as you say King
Edward the eighth abdication he fell in love with an American you've heard that
story before haven't you what is Simpson American divorcee but what happened it
triggered this constitutional crisis for the nation he had to abdicate as
result so his heart ruled over his head on that sort of matter Princess Margaret
if you went through to the 1950s as she had a relationship with Peter Townsend
and basically he was RAF group captain Peter Townsend that also caused the
political and moral dilemma in the 1950s because again he was divorced and under
Church of England rules at the time remarriage was not permitted if a former
spouse was living you also have princess and kidnap and it shows how
resilient she is she's still one of our love Royals but that raised all sorts of
questions about Royal security and so on and so forth at 1992 was what her late
Majesty Queen Elizabeth called the annus horribilis and that basically many many
problems there at three of her four children that year saw their marriages
collapse you had Prince Charles and Princess Diana separated but then Prince
Andrew had problems with Fergie they announced their split and Princess Anne
split from Mark Phillips and also what happened is Windsor Castle which I went
down to especially for you Gabriella when Trump was over here that had that
fire the devastating fire which tore through that in November you also had
squidgy gate 1992 this is when basically a tape was released of Princess Diana
and her friend James Gilby that was published in the press and it referred
to Diana as squidgy but it was nothing in comparison with tampon gate in 1993
when the then Prince of Wales Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles were
heard talking about what he would like to do on that sort of basis I won't go
into details but we had the divorce of Diana and Charles that was sort of
massive on that sort of basis we had the terrible Diana interview in 1995 the
panorama interview and the reason I say it's terrible is because Diana was
deceived into giving that interview her brother Charles Spencer has been on my
show a number of times and one of the scandal is that Prince Diana was
misled she was misled about bank account details and she didn't trust her friends
and so she was sort of paranoid that when she went to her grave and it was on
that sort of basis that she did the interview but that was the sort of
unprecedented in its candor we've had lots of scandals with Fergie and her
toe-sucking we talked about that we've had Prince Harry in his Nazi costume in
2005 and obviously Harry and Meghan who provide constant fodder for us here when
they did Mexit and basically left for greener pastures and obviously the
scandal which was exposed in there Prince Harry but to Trump all of that
the ongoing scandal as predicted day in day out we see more and more the scandal
of the former Prince Andrew. We do and now the latest I believe is that MPs may
be investigating Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor for his conduct while
working as trade envoy for the UK this is according to the chairman of the
cross-party business and trade committee Liam Byrne he says that his committee
would meet next week to decide how he might or might not take this
investigation forward. Andrew what's your prediction? Well my prediction is we need
to look at this we talked about Peter Mandelson or Scandalson as I renamed him
and what he may have done including passing on confidential information to
Jeffrey Epstein well it appears not just that about the photographs that are
emerging with Andrew on all fours and those sort of pictures as well as a
picture of Virginia Greene and Dupre but also more and more revelations about the
extent of his relationship having met in 1999 with the Ghislaine Maxwell at that
sort of stage and he sort of denied having contact well more and more photos
are emerging not just him strolling in Central Park in New York but the ongoing
discussion but this is again a scandal this time on a business point of view
because he's alleged to have passed over secret to Jeffrey Epstein about sort of
opportunities and so on and so forth and basically I always say look sunlight
is the best disinfectant we need to work out what's actually happened and when
and they need to look at that sort of side so what's happened is Byrne as you
rightly say he can guarantee that MPs are not in the market for letting
anything slip through the cracks like that's what they said we need to have a
look at this Prince Andrew or the former Prince Andrew needs to confirm what he
knew and when because I can guarantee as I always say every photo ever taken every
email ever written will always come into the hands of those who least wanted
to absolutely look also those calls for Andrew to really talk to police reveal
everything he knows calls for that are getting certainly louder former Prime
Minister Gordon Brown says that the interview that the police rather must
interview him and although Andrew denies any wrongdoing I mean can he really keep
ignoring these calls to cooperate properly with police investigations and
testify in the US Congress about what he knew he must go ahead and give
whatever information he's done we had Hillary Clinton doing an interview very
recently saying that those who knew about things should absolutely testify
the Clintons themselves they've been mentioned several times in the Epstein
files and what's been released everybody obviously the fact that you've been
mentioned doesn't mean that you're necessarily guilty but sunlight is the
best disinfectant and I always say look trust comes in on foot and leaves on
horseback and trust in everybody involved in this sort of stuff is at an
all-time low the way you restore that trust is being as cooperative as
possible tell you everybody what you knew and they can try and work out
appropriately but there's reports about airplanes coming into very close to
London and so on and so forth but for Epstein what did Prince Andrew know
about that real relationship talking about those secrets which have been
disclosed and so on and so forth he should go and testify and provide that
for the side and he should be encouraged to do so by other members of the royal
family and I think indeed the King is suggesting that he should try and
cooperate as much as possible. Well there are questions around whether the
monarchy will be able to survive this and Andrew has certainly brought
the Royals to a tipping point there are reports that the House of Windsor could
fall apart Andrew. Well it is I would say one of the biggest existential threats I
highlighted some of the several scandals that there have been just in the last 90
years and this is probably one of the biggest to rock the Royals and it needs
to be having a look at how are they dealing with it because you will know
that Royals don't travel by themselves it's not just not possible to sort of go
away without other people knowing where you're going to be who you're going to
be meeting and so on and so forth and one of the scandals that we had is
obviously at the relationship and access if you like to Buckingham Palace and we
remember that Jeffrey Epstein was offered a work where we'd like to have
dinner and he sort of put BP which everybody understood quite clearly to
mean Buckingham Palace and it had a look on that sort of basis but the more of
his revelations and they're all being bread fed as I indeed I predicted on
this very show they're all being bread fed into the media every single time
that things are getting tainted and the more they get revealed and the more
they're not dealt with the more it's going to scar the royal family for ever
well it's been revealed that Prince William wanted Andrew banished quite a
while ago and he was fighting with his father about it that mirrors royal
editor Russell Myers has written a joint biography of the prince and princess of
Wales titled titled rather William and Catherine the intimate inside story
which draws an exclusive access to palace insiders so the reports are that
William really saw Andrew as as someone that needed to be banished quite a while
ago and also as someone who was a stain on the royal family Andrew. Yes stain on
the royal family is exactly the position and again as I pointed out on this show
he was very very harsh in terms of how he wanted Andrew to be dealt with harsh
but fair if you on that sort of basis because it was quite right right he
realised that the general public would make that association and we saw at the
Duchess of Kent funeral how uncomfortable William looked around his
uncle those relations have been strained for a very very long time William has
been brutal is the word I use previously about trying to exclude Andrew but with
good cause because it is a stain on the monarchy and by association the more
that Andrew's trumpeted out at these sort of events the better for that sort
of scandal to continue to stick you don't want that scandal to stick and
therefore distance is the best way to address with that but certainly I think
William was the driving force about not having him at Christmas events he would
have had a conflict if you like previously with his father about it he
wanted to go further than his father wanted as a result but now that Andrew's
been stripped of his title you can guarantee that it's almost unlikely that
they're going to be seen at events together and certainly William where
they are forced into particular events will want to keep his distance as far as
possible well it's not just Andrew that has had
some very serious allegations made against him Fergie's relationship with
Epstein is certainly being scrutinised what's the latest on the allegations
around Fergie well all the time and we used to feel a bit sorry for Fergie
we thought she was embroiled and brought under the sort of shadow if you like of
her husband or former husband what's now emerged is that she's not only borrowed
lots of money that she needs to do but she also at one stage tried to retract
from criticizing Epstein in public she said that she received a
threatening phone call which is why she sort of turned around and was so
deeply apologetic to Jeffrey Epstein because she was worried that she might
be sued for defamation she also sort of turned around and apparently asked him
to marry her on that sort of basis and even asked the possibility of getting a
job with him to call herself a house assistant and that's apparently according
to the mail on Sunday they wanted to avoid using the term housekeeper or just
a special word for someone who was in employs a legion of staff and what
happens is exactly that Fergie there are more and more revelations about what was
said what emails went where and so on and so forth and that's the sort of
thing the final first request for employment was back in 2010 when
apparently Epstein was under house arrest in Florida following his
conviction for preferring a child for prostitution and that's the important
point Gabriela it's the timing of all of these things this is after the
convictions this is all sort of denying that there's ongoing discussions and as
they say sunlight is the best disinfectant we're gonna have all of
those emails being revealed so it's better that you like to deal with those
and deal with those head-on but embroiled and tarnished as a result of
the ongoing scandal. Just finally we mentioned Megxit as a pretty big scandal
that the royal family's had to face it's been revealed that Princess Catherine
she was always a voice of reason when it came to William and Harry's relationship
when that started to fracture I started to fall apart but there became this
turning point where she realized that she could no longer bring them together
she realized there was no turning back and that Megxit was inevitable these
revelations also being detailed in Russell Meyer's book what are those
details around this turning point when Princess Catherine realized there was no
turning back? Yes and I think that's the thing is the difference between the two
brides if you like William and Catherine which became this wonderful romance and
she got security as soon as they got involved Harry was always concerned
about the security for him and also when he started dating Meghan and there was a
conflict there because they didn't get the same level of security you also had
the very much the different attitudes if you like the Catherine was always seen
as this wonderful rose and still is adored by the public and Meghan they
sort of had that love-hate relationship which has gone more to the latter now
that she's in America but apparently what happened she hugged William when
she first saw him this is what happened and made them feel a bit uncomfortable
Catherine described Meghan as friendly or being erring on the side of somewhat
over friendly is what she said and she used the phrase the damning three words
a touch of California about her which she didn't necessarily mean in a sort of
confidential way it was a very different shake-up if you like for the royal family
and you'll recall in that Oprah interview about that demonstrating how
she curtsied to the Queen and how cringe-worthy Harry felt or certainly
gave the impression on that sort of basis but it's a sort of strained
relationship and that's the issue and it's really quite sad because the
brothers they grew up in very tragic circumstances lost their mother and
they're both very young and supported each other through that and it's sad to
see that they've drifted apart in this way I for one really hope there will be
some sort of resolution if only for the King in what is obviously a very
difficult time for him with his own cancer diagnosis and so on and so forth.
