The Molly Maguires were a clandestine group of Irish immigrants, particularly active in Liverpool and the Eastern US, especially Pennsylvania. They worked to improve conditions of coal miners, and were not averse to vandalism and violence, including the murder of mine owners in an effort to reach that end. They were infiltrated by the famous Pinkerton Detectives, and here Allan Pinkerton recounts the story of their involvement (Summary by LynneT)
