Enfield Square Mall redevelopment plans face setback as purchase agreement expires

Plans to convert the Enfield Square Mall have fallen apart after an expired agreement. 22 News reporter Eretta Odaya has how it all happened. The experience at Enfield Mall was amazing. From the time I was there, basically almost five years. After a positive experience with his studio location at Enfield Square Mall, global fashion designer Justin Haynes' time there was unfortunately cut short. The end of January to beginning of February, there was a quote-unquote hype burst. In one of the facilities there, so we all had to vacate the premises. The town shut the mall down completely, so that was me shutting down all my clients, shutting down everything. Then, getting this letter back in March notifying him, the owners decided to permanently discontinue operations due to significant repair work. I'm sure that wasn't easy for you. No, it wasn't easy. It was kind of heartbreaking and it was an emotional kind of ride for me because I loved the workers. I loved the people that were at the mall. Now, the proposed multi-million-dollar mixed-use development includes building apartments and retail spaces, but it's been confirmed that the purchase and sale agreement has expired between Namdar Realty Group and Woodsonia Real Estate. The Enfield Town Manager, Matthew Koppler, tells 22 News the town wasn't involved in negotiations but is still committed in redevelopment efforts and are exploring options with a new developer who has a purchase and sale agreement in place for the mall. He also says, quote, the expiration is certainly a setback, but it doesn't change the underlying opportunity the mall site presents. Now, 22 News did reach out to Woodsonia.
