For round 1, chain 22, skip the first 2 chains, then work 3 double crochets into the next stitch. Continue with 18 double crochets, then make 6 double crochets into the end stitch to turn the corner. Crochet 18 double crochets along the opposite side, work 3 double crochets into the last stitch, and finish with a slip stitch. Great start. Take your time shaping both ends evenly for a smooth, symmetrical base. Next, round 2, chain 2, work 2 double crochets into each of the first 3 stitches, then crochet 18 double crochets. At the curved end, work 2 double crochets into each of the next 6 stitches. Continue with 18 double crochets, then 2 double crochets into each of the last 3 stitches, finish with a slip stitch. Wonderful progress. Be sure to keep your increases evenly spaced to maintain a nice oval shape. For round 3, chain 2, and crochet 60 double crochets evenly around. Join with a slip stitch. Excellent. Count your stitches before moving on to make sure you still have 60 stitches. Now, continue with rounds 4 through 12. Work in the back loops only, VLO. Chain 2, crochet 60 double crochets, and join with a slip stitch at the end of each round. You're building the body of the bag now. Working in the back loop creates a beautiful ridge that helps define the bag shape. Keep your stitch tension even for a clean finish.
