Why Doesn't God Just Destroy Satan?

It is probably the most honest question a child has ever asked in Sunday School. And most pastors don't have an answer not a real one. ""He will, eventually"" is not an answer. It's a postponement. If God is omnipotent, and Satan is the source of evil, and God hates evil then why is Satan still here? Why not end it now? The early Church had an answer. It was not a cop-out. It was not a mystery shrug. It was a precise, coherent theological framework and it begins with a question most Western Christians have never been asked: Did God create evil? The answer, according to every Church Father from the 4th century onward, is no. Evil is not a thing. It has no substance. It is not a force equal to God. It is the ABSENCE of good the way darkness is the absence of light, the way cold is the absence of heat. And that single insight changes everything about how you understand Satan, free will, suffering, and the Cross.
