Your baby has a flat head? No problem, today we're going to look at why and how to fix it
and you can start today. Hi, I'm Sebastian from Aclinic Osteopath, now full-time dad teaching
families tips, tricks and techniques that actually work. So let's look at what happens here. Baby's
skull is very very adaptable and moldable. Why? Because its primary function is birth. For birth
it needs to squeeze through the birth canal. Your baby's skull needs to be very moldable and
adaptable so that the different bones can overlap, underlap and deform a little bit before expanding
after birth again. Now that we know the mechanism of how it happens, how do we actually prevent it
or fix it? So number one, try to carry your baby as much as possible with a carry-on or similar
things. Your baby can rest its head on your chest and that way there is no pressure point. If
carrying is not an option, because I mean I know how it is, I am a dad, then make sure that while
your baby lies on the crib that you readjust the head just a little bit. For example, after half an
hour to the right, after half an hour to the left, you can do that by putting a small towel on the
one side of the head. That way the pressure point averages out and it's not always the same spot.
Another way to help this problem and fix it is to actually increase tummy time. Tummy time is
perfect for this because there is also no pressure point on the back of your baby's head
and you can start as early as two to three weeks after birth. Don't be overambitious but also don't
be scared. Start slow with one or two minutes and then you can increase over time. Pro tip from my
clinic days, try to do tummy time right after the nap times. If you like this video, like and
