How To Cut & Polish Gemstones: 2 Sawing, Preforming, And Dopping

Part 2: Professional Gem Cutter, Steve Moriarty, teaches you how to facet gemstones. In this video, Steve shows you how he uses a saw to trim the rough crystal to get the majority of the inclusions out, then grinds away the rest of the inclusions, which then allows him to look into the gem to determine the basic shape of the gem he plans to cut from it. After he preforms the piece, he then demonstrates his method of cold dopping, to attach the gem to the dop using a two part epoxy.
