Hey guys, what's up?
Jeremy Shafer here.
So last week I showed you how to make this soccer player
with the ball, all from a single sheet of paper.
But what if you don't want the guy to have a ball?
Well, I just designed the version without the ball.
Well, you can have the ball separate.
I taught how to make this soccer ball in this tutorial.
So this guy runs and plays soccer,
but what his cool trick is is that he jumps.
Woo-hoo!
Isn't that cool?
Wanna learn how to fold him?
Ready, set, here goes.
All right, so for this model,
I'm going to use a 10-inch square of commie.
Let's begin.
Wide side up and fold in half diagonally.
Try to make really precise folds and crease sharply.
You can use a 10-inch square,
or you could use a six-inch square
or a sheet of printer paper cut square.
That's unfold, rotate, and fold in half like this.
We're gonna make a water bomb base.
So fold this corner to here,
and turn over and fold this corner to here.
Open the big pocket, put your hand inside,
and push the left side and the right side together,
and flatten, and here we have the water bomb base.
Rotate, and now fold this corner to here,
and unfold, and fold this corner
to the intersection of the creases, and rotate.
Now fold this edge to this crease,
and make sure to hold the layers together
so that they don't slide.
Now fold this corner up so that it goes right to this point,
and rotate, and fold this whole edge up to the top.
And once again, hold the layers together
so that they don't slide.
Now fold this flap up on this crease,
rotate, and fold this edge to the top.
And turn over and fold these edges to the top.
And here we have the pleated water bomb base.
Let's unfold it completely.
And now we're going to pleatsink it.
So here we have the street map,
and we have to travel on all of the streets.
So let's start with the outer one.
Fold it up like this, and just fold to the creases,
there and there.
And now rotate, and fold this edge up.
So we're folding it up like this,
to there, that crease, and to that crease.
And at the corner, you can just let it stick up like that.
And rotate, and do it again on this side.
This corner sticks up, and we fold to here.
Fold this edge up like this,
and the first square of creases is folded.
Now let's turn over and fold on this next square.
So it's like this, and rotate, and like this.
This sticks up like that, and continue around.
And like this, this sticks up like that.
And if I'm going too fast,
remember you can always pause it and catch up.
Okay, now turn over and continue
the next square of creases, and so on.
And lastly, just fold the edges in.
I'm gonna zoom in for this, like that.
And turn over, and push the edges together, like that.
All right, so these are the arms and these are the legs.
We need to make a head.
So let's open here, and actually open it like this,
and fold this like that, just pinch it,
and pinch here, so it's like that.
Now fold along this crease,
so we're folding this edge to this crease,
and just fold it like that.
And same thing on this side.
We're folding this flap to this crease, okay?
Now let's make this fold, so just pinch it like this,
lining it up with this edge, and same on this side.
Continue this fold up, aligning it with the edge.
Okay, now turn over, and lift all of these edges up,
and fold these edges to these edges, like that.
And fold these edges to these edges.
So we have this box sort of shape.
And here, let's make the box shape like this.
Just kind of continue the box, so just shape it.
So we have a box there, like this.
So here's our box.
Now we're going to collapse the box.
So push this down like this, flattening it like that,
and push this down also.
So we're going to fold this edge to the middle crease,
like that, and when you do that,
try not to fold it all the way to the crease.
Leave about a millimeter, and same on this side, like that.
Okay, and turn over, and now fold this up.
Now fold in half, and as you fold in half,
just lift these layers up, like that, and flatten.
So it's like this.
Now these are the shoulders.
We're going to push these down, like that.
And here's the other shoulder, push it down.
All right, so here you have the two-by-one head,
two-by-one, but this is the back side.
So let's turn it over,
and now we're going to do a tricky step.
So what we do is open the right side like this,
and we're going to push on this point right here from behind.
So just push it up like that, and now pinch here,
and we're going to close right on this crease right here.
Just fold it like that.
Keep pushing on this point, so it's like that.
And here we have this sort of pyramid-looking thing.
Notice my hand is, my finger's behind to provide support,
and now make that pyramid.
Now turn over and just flatten this,
and turn back over, and now push on this edge right here.
So it's like that, and push on this edge.
And we're going to make a crease
that goes right across there,
and one that goes right across here.
So push this in like that, and like that,
and there is the square face.
I'm going to open it up so you see what it looks like.
It's like that, and now let's work on the arms.
First, let's do the hands.
So on the underside, let's fold this flap down,
like this, and unfold, and fold this edge to the crease.
Now fold the flap in.
I guess I better zoom in on this one.
Let's fold it in.
How far?
Well, we want this to be equal to this length, like that.
And if you want, you can take this opportunity
to narrow the thumb a little bit, and zoom back out.
All right, so now we're going to pinch this arm in half,
like this, just fold it in half,
and it's going to wrap it here.
So just pinch it, pinch it, pinch it,
all the way to the base, like that.
And let's do the same thing on this side.
So on the underside of the arm, fold this like this,
unfold, and fold the edge to the crease,
and fold it over like that.
Narrow the thumb a little bit, and pinch, pinch, pinch.
Fold it in half.
Okay, so here we have the arms.
Now let's make the joints of the hands.
So the wrist is like that about,
and fold this wrist joint to that point,
right about there at the base of the arm.
And unfold, thumbs down.
I think he needs to be narrowed a little bit more.
Yeah, and same on this side.
So here's the wrist joint,
and fold it to the base of the arm, like that.
And once again, narrow that thumb, shape it to taste.
Okay, so here we have the body,
and now let's work on the legs.
So for the legs, let's fold them up like this.
Now, as you fold them up,
let this flap swing down, so it's like this,
because this is going to be the action,
being able to do that.
So we don't want to make any creases right here.
I just discovered that now.
Okay, now let's fold this flap over to here, like that,
and unfold, and fold it over to here.
I guess I should zoom in for this, and unfold.
And now we're going to wrap it here,
but before we wrap it here, let's fold this foot.
Fold it up how far?
Well, you want, well, how far you want,
but I folded it so that this corner
touches this interior corner right there.
And same on the other side.
And now fold this edge to the base of the leg.
So right to this corner.
And same on this side.
Okay, now unfold these folds,
and now we're going to rabbit-ear them.
So pinch, pinch, pinch along the leg, like that.
And on this leg, to this side, and to this side,
and pinch, pinch, pinch.
And now unfold the pinches, and make the joints.
So fold this up like that, and like that.
And now rabbit-ear, well, and same on this side, and fold.
So there's one foot, and there's the other foot,
and the guy is trying to touch his toes.
Now we're going to open this and make this joint.
It should already be there, just reform it.
And pinch it so that these edges go forward,
so that it aligns with this edge, like that.
There's one knee, and do the same thing on the other knee.
Push him forward.
Okay, we're almost done.
Let's shape the wrist a little bit more, like this.
The forearm, and same on this side.
Just shape it to taste.
And this flap can go back up.
And just kind of exercise this.
So this is the action.
You hold it like this, and you just push this down,
and the legs go up.
And if you want, you can put a little bit of folds in here.
I'm not really sure if that helps,
but I think it'll make, yeah,
the legs go a little bit higher.
Yeah, I'm just kind of discovering this
as I teach it right now.
What else?
Okay, you can open this up,
and just kind of shape the body to taste, like that.
And if you want, you can shape the head.
And now, if you want,
you can just kind of shape the body to taste.
Just a little curvature there, and there.
And he can lift his arms, woo-hoo!
And he can run, and this is the jumping, woo-hoo!
Might be better to hide this point a little bit
by going like this.
Yeah, that works.
I don't know.
All right, so there you have it.
And now, you can get out the soccer ball,
and he can play soccer.
And you can color the person to your favorite colors.
Maybe put the jersey number or whatever
of your favorite player.
And there you have it, wee-hee!
I just discovered one more thing.
If you take this fold, and just make it go like that,
and same on this side,
so that it goes to the tail, like that.
Now, when you move this flap, he really lifts up his legs.
So it's just a little bit more of an effective way
of moving the model.
And he can also go like this.
Whoa, yeah, woo!
All right, hope you guys enjoyed folding that,
and thumbs up!
Yeah, Superman!
