The Wizards have a major decision to make with Anthony Davis speaking out on the LeBron James
situation. The Wizards have an opportunity to do something absolutely wild but it doesn't stop
right there as there's an extension looming for Bilal Kulibaly and a lot of fans and analysts
are seriously questioning how much to give him and for how long. We have some insight
into what the Wizards could very well do with him and finally with one roster spot left,
yes it could be LeBron but another recent article highlights a familiar face that would be a great
fit for the Washington Wizards moving forward. Big decisions on the roster front, big decisions
coming for extensions. Look the Wizards sit about 19 million below the first apron right now so
there is some room, there's a lot of room to be able to make some moves but with just one roster
spot there are going to be a lot of choices. We're going to dive into a whole lot of that coming up
on this episode but before we do if you're liking the daily Wizards content make sure you hit
subscribe still over 90% of you watching have not hit subscribe and we're out there we are
extremely consistent every day Wizards news just like today let's dive into it so as you may or
may not be aware the Wizards have just one roster spot available and they have the non-taxpayer MLEs
so the Wizards we can use up to 15 million somewhere and there's a recent article sports
illustrated it'll be linked down below where a familiar face is brought up even if Anthony Gill
didn't provide much in the way of nightly on-court value which he surprisingly did last season as a
physical front court reserve he'd still be serving a big picture purpose as a popular personality
hire. Now Nick I know we're going to talk about LeBron in a minute which is maybe a bit of a pipe
dream but I know a lot of fans want another bit of big man depth and I wouldn't hate it either
what do you think about bringing back the guy that the Wizards just keep signing to these one
or two year deals? Yeah obviously it's a very different than LeBron who we'll be talking to
in a little bit but he's been around since I think 20 yeah 2020 he's been around this isn't
a young guy if you're unfamiliar he's in his early 30s 33 years actually about to be mid 30s 34 and
I mean again this isn't somebody at this point that would come in and have an immediate impact
on the court per se and again he's not a horrible player by any means and he will provide some value
but I think this is more of a off the court kind of vibes type of move where you have a very young
team obviously also now have Trey Young and Anthony Davis I don't hate it but again a lot of
this depends on what the I guess opportunity cost would be if you go with him over somebody else
because you have the opportunity to maybe even if it's not LeBron there are a lot of other names
there and you can look at his stats last year was his best year of the NBA by a pretty hefty margin
you could see pretty efficient and I think for the Wizards this seems like a move that they might
even just do if there's no other options out there to if it's even just a goodwill move to the
organization. Yeah like that really kind of would be it for that 15th roster spot I don't hate it
right like there is kind of that idea in my head of like do you go for something like that and just
kind of roll with the young roster you have or do you try and make like a reasonable splash like the
Spurs use their MLE on Tobias Harris and you know out in LA you got Rui signing for about the same
same like 15 million right obviously he's a familiar face too but something like this you
wouldn't have to give 15 million Anthony Gill but looking at the depth chart like I don't mind
adding some extra depth at like you know the four you know there are a lot of good names here I still
Justin Champagne in his offensive rebounding and maybe Bilal could get some more minutes though he's
more of a three slash you know he could maybe even play a few different positions but leave your
thoughts on Anthony Gill down below would you hate that as the 15th man I'm not totally sold but you
know if that ends up being the move I wouldn't hate it um but speaking of moves we want to talk
a little bit about Bilal Koulibaly because also in this article again suggest you check it out
there's a lot of great stuff in here including more than just what we're showing in this video
um Koulibaly is one of these weird just these weird guys because we know the potential that's
there but it's just it hasn't come to fruition yet and the guy's ready for an extension right
now there's no rush to get an extension but you need to do it before the season starts otherwise
he's just going to become a restricted free agent next offseason which is not the end of the world
he could field offer sheets stuff like that but I mean looking at his career numbers Nick like
the efficiency hasn't really improved since the rookie year which is not bad though because the
volume increased and the efficiency stayed about the same which is usually kind of what you want
to see but you want to see that uptick a little bit his defense has always been his calling card
about two stocks a game uh two years ago over two stocks a game this year but the question is how
much are the Wizards willing to give him and in this article Henry Brown seems to say something
that I don't mind to be honest the only question is how much he'll sign for and what is the price
he said maybe about 15 million three to four years I wouldn't hate this um I'm just the only
thing that worries me about Bilal is getting ourselves into and I've seen some Wizards fans
say this before getting ourselves into a Patrick Williams situation where you bank on the development
you bank on the efficiency that you haven't seen yet and you just hope that that offense comes into
play to make him an elite two-way player is this a price you'd be willing to pay and I want to hear
the fans down below as well yeah obviously Patrick Williams it's an interesting comparison
fairly different players like Patrick Williams at that point when he has extension was a very
very good three-point shooter so I think they were banking on the fact that he could
be a good shooter for Bilal when they drafted him it was a project and that was one of the moves
that I mean I liked the time I think I'm higher on block a lot of than a lot of people the defense
is really good you look at last year's stats the efficiency went up a little bit but his minutes
also went down by a decent amount now is that because you know the coach didn't like to play
because there was other talent there's a lot of different you know avenues there but if he can
continue to work on the three-point shot obviously he's been really good from the corners I don't
know I think 15 million is pretty reasonable with someone as good defensively as he is it's hard for
that to be a bad deal unless his offensive game doesn't develop at all and the three-point shot
is really going to be the differentiator here but yeah I'd probably run that I don't think there's
too much worry of a Patrick William I mean there is I guess the Patrick Williams situation even
though they're fairly different players Bilal is one of the best defenders on the team he is an
extremely extremely valuable defender this isn't like someone who's coming off a year they average
seven points a game on 30 percent from the field he still was fairly good last year just in a
slightly reduced role I mean I agree and like to even get a bit to your point here like after the
all-star break he was actually really good and just in his last 10 games 16 points four and a
half boards two and a half assists and he shot 40 percent from three over this sample and over just
the post all-star break which is a decent sample size as well he was at about 46 47 percent from
the field almost 40 percent from three I think the thing with him Nick is like when he's actually
healthy and he gets that runway to be himself he can be good and you know even with this upcoming
season they're good the ball is going to be in a lot of other players hands and part of me wonders
if that could almost be good for him maybe get him some more higher quality threes I mean I think
that having Trey Young and Anthony Davis and AJ Devonza for a full year might also open the floor
a bit yeah and one of the interesting things you mentioned a lot of new guys or I guess different
roles for a lot of the guys who have been on the team now I think if you want to point to a worrisome
part of it it could be the positive where you have Trey Young you have AJ Devonza but there's also
and we've seen it in the past as well kind of with Patrick Williams but less so just in general
he might get faded out and if you give him that 15 million dollar extension there's no ball you
know he needs to develop maybe that's you know by playing and playing a role that he really probably
is best suited to play which is kind of a guy who doesn't have the ball in his hands a ton
but the worry is I mean you look at the team there let's just take the starting five I mean you have
Trey Johnson you have Bob Carrington you have Will Riley not to say they're all going to be
balls in their hands players you have Cam Whitmore as well I worry a little bit about the development
side especially if let's say next year the first half of the season they're playing really really
good and then they want to go out and try to actually make another splash and win then I mean
that'd be best case scenario so it wouldn't be a huge issue per se but that's the worrisome part
and I still know if it's about 15 million dollars it's 15 million dollars it's not a crazy amount
for what he provides but I don't know I think his role might be it not in question but definitely
up in air a little bit yeah I am okay with it to be honest I think 15's right about at that range
like if you get near 20 I start to get a little more uneasy but I think it's you can swallow it
especially like the cap's going up and up and up every year and I know everyone says that it's like
an excuse to give players a bit more than maybe you think they're worth on the market but I don't
know I think the potential is there but you're right there are a lot of questions about all the
guys around him and you have to wonder if the Wizards are gonna go and push to win a bunch
and if you do want to bring back Anthony Davis on an extension it's like maybe he's one of those guys
that could be on the trading block and I don't I don't love to say that but him or one of the other
guys you mentioned right there is only a certain amount of space not all these guys are going to
prove that they're starter caliber players but maybe you do move off of one so that another has
a better pathway anyway leave your thoughts down below on that situation as we do have to go into
this uh final thing here um you saw in the intro played again yeah we've had conversations is what
now look I I I'm skeptical of it but hey you never really know Wizards Muse you can see here
maybe we've had some conversations could LeBron actually sign with the Wizards I mean look I think
this is a bit of a of a pipe dream if I'm being honest but you never know you know LeBron wanting
to do something that MJ couldn't and that's bring some with the Wizards some success in the playoffs
um you know I just wanted to bring this up because there is you know that final roster spot
the Wizards have a young fun team it's LeBron's former running mate we've heard those rumors that
like LeBron and AD would maybe want to team up in Golden State obviously those have been quashed
that the Wizards are not trading Anthony Davis at least not at this stage LeBron is still good
Nick and I know Cleveland and Golden State and Miami these are like these front running places
probably Cleveland if we're being honest I know he said this whole process thing talking about
Philly yesterday um is this something you'd even entertain I want it's more of a fun thought
experiment and we'll hear what the fans have to say below but like to me it kind of feels like a
joke until it's not you know yeah uh interesting I mean at this point like sure if he wants to
come and would the Wizards make room for him absolutely I don't think you'd decline LeBron
James but all reports point to either I mean you mentioned Cleveland Miami maybe Philadelphia but
it is interesting that I think the bigger story here I mean it seems like AD's buying in a little
bit more to the Warriors or the Wizards than he once was and again they definitely had
conversations they're pretty close friends they obviously want a championship in LA
it would actually make sense on the court for LeBron if he wants to join a young team help them
kind of cement his legacy a little bit more but I don't even know if this is something I mean
obviously the Wizards probably would there's only one basketball to go around and that would be a
very interesting team especially paired with AJ DeBonce's development but yeah sure I mean if it
came up and it was for obviously you know the captain it was maybe but I don't think it's a
super realistic possibility I do think he signs probably in the next few days with
with one of the three teams I mentioned well look I mean he's him and Rich Paul are doing this whole
media tour and I'm sure they're making bank just off teasing this decision like yeah you know just
waiting around seeing what people are saying including maybe stuff like this and yeah no I
mean I agree I don't think it's something that's actually gonna happen I mean he reportedly wants
to go to a winning team for a low deal he wants to play some golf I mean you know there's reasons
to come to Washington but I'm not so sure about this one but leave your thoughts down below
maybe not a not such a serious end of this video but Bilal and Anthony Gill maybe you have some
more thoughts but that will do it for this episode hey once again just want to remind you guys that
