The Wizards are about to pull off something sneaky great...
Jul 17, 2026
Some sneaky good moves are about to be incoming for the Washington Wizards.
After another very interesting summer league performance, we got a better look
into two guys that could make some serious noise with the go-go in Seth Trimble and Reese Beekman.
Two guys that are looking to make a huge impact defensively and may factor into the bigger
picture with Will Dawkins and the Wizards. But on another note, with Trey Young and Anthony Davis
being parts of this very anticipated lineup, we have some bold takes not only from Kenny Smith
and Jeremy Lin, but many Wizards fans about where the Wizards would likely land this year.
We got to dive into all of that coming up on this episode of Wizards Digest. But hey,
if you guys are enjoying this content, we're going to be trying to get this out every single
day. And 92% of you watching are not subscribed to this channel. So make sure you hit that

And Nick, we're just going to start with some hype, right? We're going to talk about this
this team heading into this year. Here's what Wizards News has to say. This could very well
be the starting lineup. It would be my projected starting lineup, provided everyone is healthy.
Knock on wood. There's a lot of injury history here with some of these guys, but
like even yesterday, right? Kenny Smith and Jeremy Lin talking about it. Kenny Smith and Jeremy Lin
talking about it. Smith said, yes, it depends on their development, how fast that happens and how
fast they acknowledge that Devonta is the guy. Lin said, I'd be surprised if they're not playing
at least. Nick, I would be surprised if the Wizards were not in like a genuine playoff spot.
I see this team as having six seed or higher potential. I don't know what you're feeling,
but especially after summer league, seeing Devonta, seeing so many young guys on this
team with so much room to grow. I'm really excited. Yeah, obviously. I mean, I think
they're a top five team. You look at the starting lineup. A lot of it depends on health, but you
can say that for a lot of teams in the east. And we saw injuries derail a lot of teams.
I mean, that starting five is one of the more interesting in the NBA. You have Alex,
sorry. You have obviously Anthony Davis and Trey Young who are going to be,
if healthy. I mean, also Keyshawn George, and this is not even factoring in obviously the bench.
They have a lot of guys that can contribute there. But for me, a lot of it relies and comes down to,
I mean, the east is a very, very good, it's a lot of good teams in the east this upcoming season,
but Trey Young and Anthony Davis, if they provide even a semblance of what we know is possible for
based on their careers. I mean, you look at the other teams, I think they can factor into not
only a plane, I think a plane spot would almost be disappointing in my eyes if they sneak in,
in a plane spot, assuming everyone's healthy. I have them as a definitely a top five team,
an actual playoff spot. And I think they can actually make some noise, assuming everything
works out. But also there's going to be some teams that were bad last year. I mean, obviously,
the Wizards are bad last year, but the Pacers that are going to make some, you know, some decent
noise as well. Yeah. And like, you know, the box would probably fall a bit like the heat will
probably be higher than the Tennessee because of Giannis, obviously. And there's some weird
stuff going around. I don't really know what's going on in Charlotte. Like there's a lot of
teams here that scream uncertainty. And I will say, like, I think there is a lot of uncertainty
caked into what the Wizards have right now, as we all kind of know, because one, a rookie, like now,
first of all, he is going to be the guy, AJ Devons is going to be a premier NBA player for many,
many years, but you're right, right? Trey Young and Anthony Davis, there is that kind of if
hanging on to them, but I'd love for the fans to let us know down below, will the Wizards be a top
five seed? Because Nick, one of the other things that we'll, we'll end up talking about, I'm sure,
in another video soon, if we just take a look at the payroll, the whole depth chart, the Wizards
have so many other young guys that like, we don't know who's going to step up and who's not, right?
Cam Whitmore versus Bub Carrington versus Trey Johnson versus like, there's all these young
guys, Keyshawn George, Will Riley, and Bilal Koulibaly. Like a lot of these guys, some of
them guards are going to be fighting for minutes. But part of me also thinks that can go towards
improving the team in the sense that so many guys might feel like they have their back up against
the wall. Like if I don't show out compared to my teammates, X and Y, I might not be in the
rotation. I think when there's healthy competition, that can also level your play up a little bit.
Yeah, there is a lot, a lot of players. I mean, DeAndre Ayton is another one that they recently
got who, you know, you're kind of buying low on him. He could be a good backup. Big Will Riley,
that's a guy that he could easily be a starter, I think, in this league. But you also have
Keyshawn George. It's going to depend on who plays well, who obviously ends up, I think,
getting off to a hot start, because I think it's going to be a very fluid starting five.
You have your guys, Edgar Devons is going to start, Trey Young, Anthony Davis, one healthy.
But I think there's a world here where maybe Keyshawn George comes off the bench if he gets
off to a slow start. And that's not because Keyshawn George, I think he's going to be a
fantastic NBA player. There's way too many high upside players. Not too many. It's obviously
a good thing, but there's a lot of high upside players on the team. And Blockwood Bally is an
interesting one. We saw the video on probably tomorrow. Yeah, I'm excited to talk about him
because, I mean, he just, you see that upside of it and it's just a matter of putting it together.
But look, regardless of the actual Wizards, let us know your thoughts on where they'll finish in
the East this year. We got to talk a little bit about some of these two-way deals, right? Because
as we just showed on the payroll, as of the recording of this video, at least, the Wizards
have not used any of their three two-way spots. You see at the top left there, player, we've used
14 of the 15 starting lineup spots. We've used zero of the three two-way spots. And some of the
performances start to have us questioning, hey, what are some options? And I like this tweet here
from Riley, our potential options. We got Richmond, we got Beekman, and we got Trimble. Now these are
just the results from yesterday, and we'll dive into the box score in a moment. But I want to
focus specifically on the guards there, Beekman and Trimble. You saw in the intro, Beekman has
been a very solid playmaker. Trimble was knocking out some threes. He was, he's doing what he needs
to do, right? The guy at a UNC. It's been very fun to watch them, but I think I can't help but feel
like Beekman and Trimble, and it seems to be a common sentiment among Wizards fans and those
who watch these games, you know, with so many of our good players not playing, right? Anyway, that's
okay. These guys really had a chance to step up. This combo of guards would be a nightmare to play
against if you're an opponent going up against the go-go. Both very solid defensively. Beekman
himself is averaging. Now Beekman actually has a bit more NBA experience. He's played some games
in the NBA with Golden State and Orlando. This is his third Summer League, but he's averaging like
four stocks a game as a six-foot-three guard with some nice playmaking, four assists a night.
Yeah, the three-third percentage isn't there, but the three-point percentage has been. I mean,
with these guys, Beekman and Trimble, I know we have a lot of two-way choices, but I think these
two, I don't know if I want to say locks, but after watching them, I would really, really,
really love if they got some run in the G League this year. Yeah, Trimble was really good yesterday.
Beekman, like you mentioned, has, I don't know, they're both pretty fun to watch, and you know,
you'd obviously like to see Ajit Abhansa and a lot of these other guys play, but seeing kind of,
I guess sneaky is the word, some underrated talents go up, and I mean, everybody's competing for a
spot at this point. That's why it's such an aggressive style of play in the Summer League
to 10 foul things. They're both really good defenders. Beekman, especially like you mentioned,
the steals and blocks a game. If you get both of them, obviously these will be G League players,
but they can transition, and if you can play good defense, you can play at the NBA level.
Obviously, you need to be able to shoot the ball a little bit, but we've seen in the past a lot of
guys with similar kind of statures. Obviously, they're small point guards. They're combo guards.
They can make an impact at the NBA level. They just have to obviously work it through the G
League, but yeah, I'm all in on both of them, especially Trimble, and then you see what they
can do throughout the season, and then, you know, injuries happen. Hopefully, none to the Wizards,
but injuries are going to happen, and things are going to, you know, opportunities are going to
come up, and for him to go out and miss four shots the entire game while putting up 24 points and
still getting a steal and a block, it's hard to, especially with the way that this team is built,
I think having guys like this, two smaller combo guards, would actually make sense to go down
in the G League and let them just see what they can do, and hopefully that transitions to some
sort of NBA, you know, minutes for them at some point, especially with their defense, even if it's
five or ten minutes a game. Yeah, I completely agree. I'm not expecting these guys to take the
world by storm and steal a starting spot, you know, like that's not what we're looking at here,
it's stuff that matters, right? A lot of the best NBA teams do try to leverage that opportunity,
and you can see Trimble here, of course, first summer league, 22 minutes a night, averaging 12
points, two stocks for him, like two steals, it's really impressive. The three-point shot wasn't
there the whole summer league, but hey, we saw when he got a bit of volume with some other guys out,
he was kind of solid, right? Maybe he's one of those guys where if you let him be the go-to
option, it works really well, and you can take a look at his college stats last year, 14-4-3.
Now, he also only shot 29% from three in the NCAA, so you'll want that to get to around 35,
hopefully, but he brings so much else to the game that it's not a necessity. So,
I'm very excited about both these guys, I think the Wizards have so many nice options, as we take
a look at some of the other players yesterday, I mean, shout out to Livingston for putting up
20 points as well, so many great guys to watch there, I mean, Richmond as well, 10 points,
three for nine shooting, two for four from three, five turnovers, but four blocks, right? And then
three blocks for Aikoko, really, really fun young team. There's a lot of moves coming,
and let us know if you think these could be two great candidates for two-way deals. I think they're
sneaky good moves, man, like, I know there's a lot of competition, but you never know who might make
some noise, but that will do it for this episode, thank you for tuning in to this one on Wizards
Digest, I'm Josh Goss, my co-host Nick Goss, we'll catch you in the next one.
