Sweaty Mike Johnson PANICS When Confronted to His Face...it Was BRUTAL
#News #Politics
While the recent string of ICE killings has dominated headlines and national news, Speaker Mike Johnson, by his own admission, was apparently focused on more important tasks than the cold-blooded shootings of two civilians at the hands of Donald Trump's secret police force. AI GeneratedThis discussion centers on the fatal shooting of Johan Sebastian by ICE agents in Maine and the subsequent reports that ICE is suspending vehicle stops. The conversation critiques the administration's lack of accountability, the use of PR moves to mask systemic cruelty, and the need for the Democratic party to move beyond \"obedience\" toward a passionate, policy-driven platform.
The ICE agents who killed a person in Maine yesterday were reportedly not using body-worn cameras and that's despite DHS officials coming to Congress and repeatedly saying over the last few months that they want to expand body camera usage.
Does there need to be accountability on DHS from Congress here?
I don't know anything about this event. I was a little busy yesterday so I'm going to reserve judgment.
I know that there was a tragic shooting and I'm not going to comment on it because I don't know.
And you guys can mock me for not knowing that. I worked about 22 hours in the last few days and I did not get the briefing on that yet. I will this morning. Yes.
Another day, another spineless, pathetic excuse from Speaker Mike Johnson that would immediately come back to bite him.
But the other thing here is the hardliners in this administration, they don't care about the politics because many of them are white supremacists.
And they don't care. They're cruel. And this is what they want.
This is the same administration that removed protections for Haitians, for Syrians.
At the same time, it's allowing more Afrikaners only, white South Africans only in.
So this is all one of a piece.
And when we ask ourselves, why is this administration doing something that is so obviously bad politics in addition to cruel and un-American?
I think we need to really look carefully at all the anti-democratic behavior from this White House because this is not a popular policy.
I don't live in Maine. I'm not an immigrant, but I'm a proud American.
And this administration has made every single American complicit in these deaths.
This is happening with our taxpayer dollars that could be going to schools, to health care.
It's so refreshing to hear someone deliver an unsanitized, unapologetic take like this on a morning cable news show like Morning Joe.
Because that attitude of superiority underlies the obsession with policing who does and doesn't belong in our society.
Which brings us to this surprising piece of news.
Reuters reports that ICE is suspending vehicle stops for immigration enforcement.
They are a massive driver of deportations.
And this comes after ICE agents shot and killed another person.
The second killing in just one week.
Johan Sebastian, the 26-year-old Columbia native killed in Biddeford, Maine yesterday, was a delivery driver, husband and father.
According to a witness who spoke with MS Now, Sebastian's wife and young daughter were seen crying at the scene.
Hours after the shooting became public knowledge, DHS released a statement saying ICE was conducting surveillance on a migrant facing a final order of removal when a person departed the residence in a car.
ICE agents attempted to stop the vehicle, they say.
And DHS says an officer opened fire, quote, fearing for public safety.
But they have not provided any evidence to support those claims.
We have DHS not being reckless at this point, but being very deliberate in focusing on the numbers at whatever cost and whatever comes with that.
I thought that after the death of Rene Good, Alex Pretty, there was a new secretary stated that things may have been a little bit different.
That was only six months ago.
And we see now that there's a push for more arrests and nothing has changed.
None of the officers have bodyguards.
And it's the same rhetoric stating that, you know, they tried to weaponize vehicles instead of really looking at what ICE, what DHS must do to ensure that this doesn't happen again.
Well, this reported policy is welcomed and may seem like a major concession from the administration.
We can't celebrate anything just yet.
And here's the thing. Limiting vehicle stops, if they do so in the first place, doesn't fundamentally change ICE's objectives and motivations, nor does it create any meaningful political goodwill for Trump's opponents.
Because ICE can still terrorize and harm people, whether they're here in this country legally or illegally, or whether they are here, whether people are American citizens.
They can still terrorize people without vehicle stops.
You can terrorize them on the street.
You can terrorize them at parks.
You can terrorize them at jobs.
And you can kill them in different ways.
So it's not going to change their objectives.
And what it really is, is a PR move, right, to get the media to cover the most recent ICE shootings in a more favorable light to the administration.
And look what happened. On July 16th, Donald Trump is out there posting things saying we should continue to traffic stops.
ICE, they have to do their jobs.
So, of course, of course, it's all a PR move.
What are we doing here?
People want fighters.
They want people who express care and concern, who get them excited to vote.
You don't want to have to, all right, I'll vote.
Nobody wants that.
People don't want to have to be like, okay, fine.
People want to be like, yes, that is why them three candidates that Mamdani put forward won.
Because even though it was a small percentage of people who came out, I promise you those young people were excited to vote.
They were excited to vote.
Voting was not a chore for them.
They were happy to do it because they were like, I'm voting to change my life.
And this is what Democrats must offer.
This whole vote, no matter who, you're treating us like employees.
You're treating us like we are obligated to obey you.
You want obedience, not passion.
Obedience, first of all, we ain't giving you obedience because you've not obeyed us.
You know what a progressive is?
A disobedient Democrat.
It's Al Green.
He said he's a liberated Democrat.
I'm a liberated Democrat.
Because liberated Democrats are not obedient.
The leadership's supposed to be obedient to the people, not the other way around.
Y'all want obedience.
You don't want our passion.
You want our obedience.
You want us to obey you.
We should not obey.
And I'm going to say the last thing before I get to a moment of joy.
As voters, we have to stop being obedient.
And we have to start being powerful.
Because the only way that elected officials stay in office is us.
We're the voters.
We have the power.
We can't just lope into the midterms sad and obedient and saying, fine, we'll vote for the Democrats.
We know they're not going to do anything.
We know nothing will change.
But at least they're not Trump.
At least they're not Trump.
Trump, Trump, Trump.
Trump is bad.
I really love Joy Reid's rant when it comes to highlighting the differences between a
robust, motivated, and effective opposition party to the Republicans and the current Democratic
party we're stuck with now.
Because there are way too many of them who are just saying, as she points out, just want
you to be obedient and vote blue no matter what.
I'm sorry, what?
Just because you're not Donald Trump, we should vote for you?
You have to have a better strategy.
You have to have a better platform than that.
You can't just say, yeah, vote blue no matter what, because we're not Trump, and expect
people to be energized and motivated.
Nah.
You need to have actual strategies and policies in place or policies that you're going to
propose and try to get passed that are actually going to help your constituents.
And you should want the passion.
You should want people to hold you accountable and be critical instead of this nonsense of
yeah, here, take this, because we're not Donald Trump.
So you should just accept whatever we give you.
Nah.
We're the ones.
We should be the ones in control.
Not the other way around, because you don't get elected without the people.
So again, we have too many Democrats right now that are in office who want us to just
suck it up and vote blue without any real positive agendas or meaningful changes to
our environment.
Hey, we're not Trump, so vote blue.
Nah.
We don't need that.
For FHQ, we need liberated Democrats, as Joy Reid points out.
We need disobedient Democrats, because there is good in being disobedient.
We've seen that happen.
For FHQ, I'm Chris Williamson.
We'll see you next time.
