Rather than focusing only on enforcement, the coalition hopes to place trained mentors in Beaumont schools during the upcoming school year.

City leaders say after-school programs and community resources already exist, but they need more adults willing to volunteer and build relationships with students. The coalition plans to meet monthly as Beaumont continues looking for long-term solutions to youth violence and safer neighborhoods.
