Kangaroo Joey Hops Out of Pouch to Play

On a bush trail alive with morning bird calls, I spotted this Eastern Grey Kangaroo joey, completely in its own world.

Its mother seems to hear something unsettling across the trail and takes a moment to watch and make sure. Meanwhile, the joey hops around, clumsy and amusing at times, without a care.

When she wants the joey back in the pouch, she lets out a distinctive call, bends forward, and the joey makes its way over and settles in. (02:40)
