"Jane Eyre" is a novel written by Charlotte Brontë, first published in 1847. The novel follows the life of its titular character, Jane Eyre, a plain, but strong-willed and intelligent young woman who faces numerous challenges and obstacles as she seeks to find her place in the world.

The novel is divided into three parts. In the first part, Jane is orphaned at a young age and sent to live with her cruel aunt, Mrs. Reed, at Gateshead Hall.
